    No,no ,no, adv riders don't ride like motocrossing. One high speed crash, your planned 20k adv ride goes to the drain !
    You don't need big cc. That is totally misconception. You pace the ride so the engine is not taxed. A 250 big tank bike can do the job. Many have done it before. You need a bike that most mechanic are comfortable to fix it. Not super high-tech bike that require some special tools to fix the problem.
    New tech bike,are more powerful and go longer distance. You can drop to 150cc if you are -80 kg. If you're a pig, forget it ! Smaller bikes can go much longer distance now.They have even scale the Himalayas ! ( Many times )

      @nev357 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "You pace the ride so the engine is not taxed"....seems there is a fatal flaw from the get go with insignificant engines. When I was young and poor, I dreamt of owning a bike that had more power than I could use. A bike that I couldn't max out every gear, a bike that was more capable than my abilities could handle so I could learn to become an even better rider. Yep...I am beyond 250cc and one day, you will be to.

  • @oknevals
    @oknevals 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Bike has to fit the rider. Just because one machine has better spec on the paper, doesn't mean everybody can ride it.
    It also depends where you are touring. In the US, roads are good and one rides fast. In other countries, you have slow technical roads.
    Liter bike is overkill. Personally, I prefer shaft drive for long distance touring. Not many choices though. ADV is probably more versatile compared to sport touring but, with proper strategy and time on hands, any machine can do the job.

    • @automotiveterritory
      @automotiveterritory  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Welcome to the club of adventure touring bike fans! The Super Tenere is a great bike, but it is too "super" for a beginner rider. You would be better off starting out with a smaller displacement machine 300-500 cc. For example, Kawasaki Versys-X 300. I might cover the topic of small displacement adventure tourers in the future.
