  • If you ever want to know who is truly committed and wants to be a part of your program, look for the recruits who shut down the process after they commit. The Trojans have one such player who plays defensive line. I talk about it during the show's first segment.
In the second segment, I discuss USC's QB recruiting strategy and the risks involved.
In the 3rd segment, I talk about my biggest and least concerns with the team.

My answer may be a bit off center Marc but my biggest concern moving forward is USCs and LRs ability to retain this elite talented defensive coaching staff. I am not a gambler but I would bet my lunch money that this collection of coaches moves USC into a top 40 or better defensive unit by the end of 2024. With the recruiting job they are doing for 2025 and if they follow that with a top 40 defense in 2024 then the NFL and college wolves will be out. If this staff stays intact there is little doubt in my mind that USC is in the National Championship Game in 2026.

welllllll, I might get lunch money ready if we don't have too much attrition in the trenches. We have the skill position talent to go with a top 40 D [I want a top 30D], but if Miller's right side isn't protected enough or we cant get the crucial 3 yds and a cloud of dust when it is an absolute must to keep drives alive,.... I'm putting that lunch money back. FYI, I typed this BEFORE Marc mentioned it in this video. we are usually in sync.

@@gendaminoru3195 Again I am not concerned with an offensive genius going into a season where he is questioning the offensive line talent he is putting on the field. You can have the best offensive line in the country and put up 40 points a game and the Grinch scheme would still guarantee you four losses in the Pack 12 or the BIG 10. I trust LR to scheme to his strengths , LR may find the need to play a bit more of 12 personnel in the BIG 10. The lunch money is still on the table and my concern with this team remains the performance and the retention of this elite defensive staff. FIGHT ON ✌✌✌✌

I think if LR can free up some time to keep his eyes open for future coaching replacements (like Aaron Donald?🤔) because his current staff WILL leave for promotions, he will be able keep things rolling.

Hi Marc, Great show and thank you for giving us all the news and insight as it develops. Great news that Gus the Bus has shut it down (does this mean he is hard committing and signing on the dotted line? And is USC able to now sign multi-year contracts with players like the NFL?)
Let’s talk about what USC has to offer over most of its top tier (football) competition: Tradition, top coaches and training, pipeline to the pros, etc.
What we lack is a fun little college town surrounding the school and training facilities with all the modern updated 0:10 bells and whistles (reclining locker room chairs, game rooms, bowling alleys even. We are apparently building a facility with these types of amenities).
Maybe when a player commits early, like Willy Wascher, Gus Cordova, etc., we have a perk package that we offer them.
-Start with training and guidance. They get access while they are still in high school to train with the USC athletes, watch film, get analysis and guidance beyond what they would usually get.
-Recruiting events: They would be invited to most or all of the recruiting events this year to meet the other players, participate in the fun, and to help with recruiting. They can pick what they come to or can help with planning events.
-Class schedule: USC should not stop with just having professors be present at recruiting events. They should continue down that road and help the new recruits with their long-term plans and help them choose their classes accordingly.
Also, football recruits, especially the early signups should have access to tutors and mentors that assist them with their schoolwork should they have difficulties through the year.
-Housing: Early signups should be offered top priority on the best student housing facilities available for Freshman. I know that this has to be shared with top academic student recruits, upper classmen, and Early Action enrolled students.
This is going to be key for the longevity of our football recruits well-being, happiness, and college experience.
When I was undergrad, I was housed at Cardinal Gardens, a pretty new apt complex right across the street from campus.
Later when I worked in LA and later went back for my MBA, I lived all over. West LA, Santa Monica and ultimately in Manhattan Beach (I’m a surfer and I loved it there). Great experience at USC.
Parents and Family looking for Residency: Regarding a family (like Juju Lewis’s parents, for example) who are looking to buy or to rent housing in LA to be near their son during the duration of his college time or even afterwards.
USC should be totally involved and invested in having a chosen team of realtors or rental agents that show these out-of-state family members all the great and diverse areas there are to live in LA. It definitely ain’t all about the immediate neighborhood surrounding the school.
The student athlete certainly should live close to or on campus. Too much going on to be commuting.
But the families don’t have to be right there. On the weekends and long holidays, the student athlete can come home and stay at the family home.
    Show them:
Santa Monica, Brentwood, San Marino, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Venice, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Pacific Palisades.
Heck, even show them Malibu, Zuma, Point Dume, Even Orange County like Huntington and Newport Beach.
Show them the cool urban areas to live.
It’s all about what they like.
My point is, if you really want to nail these guys down and get them invested in the USC Trojan family and culture and the true Southern California lifestyle which will bring them ultimate happiness and fame, then don’t drop the ball after you’re done recruiting and have verbal commitments. Keep it going. Thank you for your time reading this long message. Fight on! 👍🤙

Marc, its a fact that instead of portal money, they are paying high school kids. Its a fact. They are working on stacking up several good recruiting classes by using NIL that way instead of paying for the portal. Its not a rumor. Kids from Georgia, two 5 star DL kids are not going to commit to SC without some big money. That is a fact. No coach you can bring in has that pull in high school. None. SC has made their strategy known and if these kids pan out, its brilliant because they are much cheaper than portal players but unproven. Marc, Cordova is a 3 star kid. Of course he is going to shut it down. Those other kids are 4-5 stars, they are not going to do that. They got options. Real options. Cordova was not on Oregon's radar. There is no offer to the kid. Wake Forest, Arizona, Arkansa, and ASU were USC main competition. Good for the kid, he locked it down, but don't expect kids that are ranked as high as the others to do the same.

SC is doing well with the 2025 recruiting class . But as we know , they have to win in 2024 to keep most of them staying committed. How many recruits did we loose this year from a below average season ? We had a very good recruiting season last summer , but come late fall many recommitted and moved some where else . This get back to the same point I have been making all season - win baby win or loose your recruits . Simple as that - go 9 and 3 keep 70%, for 10 and 2 keep 80%. Go to the playoffs and your looking at 90.% plus staying. You like my mathematically analysis haha . Love the show . Oh by the way I like how you give it back to Chris .
