Jesse, you are truly talented. I grew up on Bob Dylan. It's refreshing that you have picked up the torch in these troubled times. Thank you for sharing awareness to what's going on in our world. I'm just an old man, living out my end years with my dog and my guitar. The world needs change. In my eyes, you are helping to bring it about. I hope that sometime we might meet or connect with each other. Keep up the good fight for TRUTH! I'm in "The Stands" routing for you! Sincerely, Jeff Boxell
Let’s be honest… Jesse needs to just have a concert right there under those power lines.. who else would pay good money to put a blanket down, styrofoam cooler with chilled beverage of choice?? Sounds absolutely perfect.
Jesse- I am writing this from a dark room without power and a generator running my wifi. Western NC/appalachia has been devastated by Hurricane Helene and we may never recover. It’s hurricane katrina levels of destruction due to us being so far inland, especially in the mountains, the valleys filled up like bowls and the tiny forest streams were destroyed attempting to drain this flood. Thousands of appalachians, good, hardworking, folks who live off as little as possible, are gone. Missing or dead. It’s been 2 weeks since the hurricane and half of the population in some counties are without water and power still. Entire towns are gone, replaced with 3foot deep toxic mud flats. Supplies cannot get to us via roads because they are still collapsing and blocked. We are being told not to drive unless it’s an emergency. People believe that we deserve this, they say we were stupid to not evacuate, but we are 300+ miles from the coast, we are in the highest possible places to get away from flooding and danger, and we were told by our government officials to NOT evacuate, we were told to shelter in place. Please consider using your voice to spread awareness about this situation, everyone has already moved onto hurricane milton in Florida, including donations and the linemen who were supposed to help us. Hurricane Milton is bad but they had the time and the warning to evacuate, and it actually lowered categories once it reached land. Hurricane Helene did the opposite. Please do not let us be forgotten.
I pray for you and all those affected! I have been donating to Samaritan's Purse and World Vision and telling anyone who will listen about what is going on. I wish I could do more. Please know that not all are blind and heartless to this disaster. My heart is with all of you. 🙏 It's dumb cliche but I don't know how else to say it, please stay strong, best you can.
Hang in there - I'm sorry for your situation. I live 8 miles south of Lansing North Carolina. I've been volunteering and my chainsaw and my generator has been lent out, and it's just a mess. Sorry for your difficulties-I have been blessed in comparison, but the devastation is all around me
Thank you for your message, @Charlesmouse. It was devastating to read. I pray for those who are suffering. I'm a songwriter living in France and I wrote a song about these events a couple of days ago, it's called "Helene and Milton". You can find a performance of it on my channel. Since I am a refugee from Ukraine, I can't really help financially, but I decided I could write a song, so I did. I don't really have a voice to spread awareness, and I don't know if this song can help anyone, but I sure pray it does. Please hold on! I wish good health to you and your family. P.S. We had a terrible storm early this week in the region where I live (Bourgogne), much weaker than Helene though, unfortunately we still had one person die, which is terrible enough.
Soo sorry to read this. Sounds like hell 😢. . Not much I can do but if you read this I'm sending you some love from Wales UK and hope you get the help you need. Your politicians should be helping their own country not spending money supporting genocide 🙏
I couldn’t sleep, listening to this song and decided to print it and sing it without learning the chords or anything. Went back to find a link to it to add to my “cover” and saw this comment from a Helene survivor. Since I sold one of Jesse’s he’s welcome to mine. My version is on my channel but be forewarned I can’t sing and don’t play that great. Anyway, the song for Helene survivors still trying to recover lyrics: Helene No warning came, the skies turned gray, The winds roared fierce, Dreams swept away. People huddled, homes turned to dust, Left to fight, in a world unjust. Forgotten faces in the storm’s cruel wake, New hurricanes come, more hearts to break. Elections rise, and the headlines fade, But the struggle remains, in the shadows that were made. They weren’t told to run, no place to hide, In the eye of the storm, the pain resides. Rebuilding lives, piece by piece, In a land where sorrow never seems to cease. Forgotten faces in the storm’s cruel wake, New hurricanes come, more hearts to break. Elections rise, and the headlines fade, But the struggle remains, in the shadows that were made. Communities torn, but spirits fight, Against the dark, they seek the light. Though the world moves on, they still stand, Holding on tight, to the promised land. Newscasts fade, and the cameras leave, But the scars remain, and the people grieve. In the quiet aftermath, they strive to survive, In their hearts, a desperate drive. Forgotten faces in the storm’s cruel wake, New hurricanes come, more hearts to break. Elections rise, and the headlines fade, But the struggle remains, in the shadows that were made. So here’s to the ones, left in despair, Holding on strong, in the storm's cruel glare. May they find peace, as the years roll by, In the hope of a dawn, beneath the same sky.

@@Wargsy Thank you, it’s been the hardest year of my life, both of my parents were moved from their house to a 24 hour hospice house, my mom died promptly and painlessly, thankfully, but it was so sudden, still grieving her. My dad is dying right now, but he is 100% deaf with dementia that he’s had for over 10 years. It’s very difficult to know how long my dad will hang on, but he’s 90, so it would be a blessing for him to pass, when I was down south in September (last month at this time) he was hurting bad, he can’t talk much anymore, but he kept saying owie, ouch, ouwe, so got his meds adjusted and now he’s not in pain, thanks for your kind words.

It's actually an honor to be compared to a music star. Not sure what bands I even sound like but would never be insulted by someone telling my my music sounded like famous musician.
Jesse's magnum opus! His most original guitar composition yet, doesn't sound like the same picking pattern/chord progression he leans toward, and universally-applicable lyrics about reconciling patriotism and disappointment. Not too on-the-nose, perfectly heartfelt. Atypical song structure, but resolves enough to make it sound like a classic folk-rock radio anthem. Excellent work!
Your previous work got me interested in you as a musician but this song I really love. Whatever songwriting spirit took hold of you in recent months I hope it keeps growing like this suggests.
