This gen megane RS was a hallmark. There were so many of them at the time lapping the ring. Very fast (and good) machinery. You couldn't extract heaps of power out of them, so not that famous in the tuning scenes where HP and straight line speed is what matters. On track they were relatively reliable, and came with some nice stuff from factory - like Recaro Cs bucket seats, 4 pot brembo brakes up front, etx
Well if it's dry you can "always" put some temperature in them. Once they come alive they will give sporty street tire like my PS4S a run for their money. IDK which lap the megane was on, but it seem that he was getting quicker by the laps end, while I was getting slower. Maybe his tires were coming alive as mine were overheating 🥵
We can see the Yaris GR goes like a 🚀 But Just a quick reminder : The Yaris GR have : 261hp/360nm for 1280kg The Megane 3 RS have : 265hp/360nm for 1490kg So yes the yaris is quick af , but the chassis of the megane make the difference , even with +200kg , absolutly incredible !
That Megane was far from being full weight. Also de 3 RS Trophy, which was the case, 1469Kg EU vs 1355Kg EU. Straight line speed was very similar. Megane was rocking AR1s :) which is arguably a faster tyre than my cup2
Corner exit felt better on the Yaris, and even more at the beginning of the lap. I felt that my tyres ran out on me towards the end. The Renault had semi-slicks, and I would bet not stock suspension :D
@@GreatMotors I'm as far of a knowledgeable guy as it gets but, from watching, it looked like towards the end you could not tighter the line as good as in the beginning. (to the extreme, people can also see this every other two weekends in F1 :D, where the difference between a worn out tire and brand new one, in corners, is staggering)
@@eugenux yeah, it's exactly that. The fronts get overheated and loose grip, which doesn't happen at the same pace with the rears, and then you screw the front/rear balance. You start getting a lot more understeer at turn-in and the car becomes a lot lazyer to rotate.
Remove the spare tyre and a tare weight of the 275 megane is about 1340kg. The renault would be in front pwr to weight after drivetrain losses? Meganes have awesome suspension from the factory, Dual axis suspension gives it more front end grip and tyre patch on the road you don't get with standard Macpherson strut setup.

I follow Thilox and he is pretty fast in this Cupra...and this is how i know 718 GT4 is very capable in the right hands when he was following it in his very fast Cupra. It would be nice to see you go head to head with his car in your Yaris and see how well you will keep up, because in other video you made it look like 718 GT4 can't get away from Yaris which i think is bullocks. It is about the drivers experience rather than the actual car imo.

this is not impressive , following other cars around the track. if you think your car is faster, then you should pass them. it can easily be seen as racing against cars that are not racing you.

You could just look at that megane rs to know it was 100% unmodified. The roll cage and bucket seats I saw from the rear window were a mirage. The AR-1s that were mounted were also a figment of my imagination. I did overtake a R34 GTR last weekend on track, but no idea a R33. You need to bring yours over.
@@peejayem4700 It's not a fair comparison to compare used car prices with new car prices, is it ? When new I reckon the Megane costed as much as the Yaris, if not more. Also if you price in the used price of a Megane + the price of all the mods this one has, I don't think they will be that far apart.

and... the Yaris is AWD while the Megane is FWD
Seems the little chugger was only let down by top end and what looked like a little too much body roll. Easily remedied issues. Nice driving

You are correct! Lowered and better suspension is in! Wider tires not for now.
Lower suspension means more body roll if the angle of arms are not corrected.

It's mounted to my head. That's how much G forces and camber changes there are in the circuit.
