    Maybe it’s just imposter syndrome or lockdown blues, but I feel like I don’t have the skills to do any of these things on a level where I would feel comfortable taking anyone’s money.

      I mean, nobody is born a mixing engineer or producer. Everything is learned through experience. I’d say give everything a try. A REAL try. Then you can be sure of who you are and aren’t.

    Hi Graham - I'm a session drummer on www.soundbetter.com and my own studio and you are right on point! I make an average of $400-$1000 a month from my client base on SB. I'd like it to be a little more more consistent but it is still the music industry! Lol! Enjoying your videos man!

    Thank you so much Graham for discussing these things
    I've been working on my mixing skills consistently for over 2 years now and i got pretty confident at it but have never charged someone for mixing their music because i was still learning and had absolutely no idea what i should be charging for my services and i never get an honest answer if i ask someone about the subject of money in this field
    Thank you for talking about this!

    If you can play guitar and/or piano and sing well then another way is to play cover songs at restaurants and bars. You can make $300+ for 3 hours of performing on a good night.

    Producing is project management, my babies. You need to do the art stuff, obviously, but you also have to know EVERYONE’S job at least as good as they do, and then ALSO make sure you deliver everything on time and on budget. It’s like 80% social work. They get paid the most because they are the adults in the room who are responsible for EVERYTHING.

    WHEN do you estimate to answer this: In your video «4 Laws of Acoustic Guitar Recording» at 5:50 you advice to put the mic «one foot» away and then you add «a meeter and a half» away. As I understand it, "one foot" is nowhere near saying that "one foot" = 1.5 meters ... So what do you really mean?

    • @olivergraf373
      @olivergraf373 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is only an opinion: Don’t drop out of school because of the networking side of things. Try and get to know everyone you can. Next, keep on getting better at those skills you mentioned, you can ALWAYS improve and there is ALWAYS room for more learning. Finally, don’t let the world get to you kid. Be humble and don’t lose track of who you are. Now that doesn’t mean stay the same always. Change is inevitable, the trick is to always strive to change for the better. I wish you a good life.
