The Steam OS 3.5.17 update causes PS3 to open and close instantly.
Here is the fix:
Go to your EmuDeck- manage emulator- RPCS3- uninstall it - then install it again.
now RPCS3 can be opened from desktop mode and PS3 games are running from Gaming mode.

Games are not on SSD. The ssd is just for transferring the game from computer to steam deck. Games are stored on steam deck SD card. You can get PS3 games by searching google. An actual ps3 is not required.

Perfectly running with the PSN workaround (didn't try other formats but they'll work for sure).
I have to say that I'm against any kind of piracy but I never played the God Of War saga. Just bought the God Of War 3 remaster for PS4 and the God Of War (2018) for PS4 in order to play them on my PS5. Checked that there's no PS4 version of God Of War and God Of War 2 but I was (and am) decided to buy them on PlayStation Store but is not possible because they only can be downloaded with Plus Suscription that I don't want and even with that they're only playable in a PS3 that I don't currently own.
So, as a summary, Sony forced me to emulate them in order to play the full saga and to know its story. If Sony releases a remaster playable on PS4/PS5 I'll purchase them as was always my intention.

Same here, but for me the sky Cooper games. You can only stream them if you pay monthly. If I could pay them I would but I don’t have that option.

Ok, so I opened the .iso, and I have a tone of files and folders show up. I tried moving them to a folder with the game name, but they still don't show up in steam rom manager. Also when I open the iso, it opens using the extractor application, is that the issue? Thanks for any help.

I love it how a $400 handheld can natively run PS3 games, but a $500 PS5 that's a lot more powerful has to stick with streaming, because "the architecture is difficult to emulate" says the creators of said architect.
it actually is. you dont understand how complicated the ps3 was even to this day. unlike the ps4 to ps5 or ps1 to ps2, the ps3 wasnt just an upgrade, it was a complete revamp. developers had trouble developing on it its whole life span

@@ganganthefatman1382 its being emulated though, not natively run. Also a console has a specific purpose vs a pc which is inherently multi functional

If you’re like me and had an issue with the games not showing up in Emulation Station, make sure when you create your new folder to put the iso files in, add .ps3 to the end, this will fix the problem. (For example, he did Skate 3, you would rename to Skate 3.ps3)
I'm honestly impressed at how well the Deck can handle PS3 games. Obviously not everything works, a couple games I really wanted to play, Last of Us and Infamous 2 are bootable, but are virtually unplayable. However I've got about 20 or so games that all run amazingly well.
Out of curiosity do you think you can do a PS Vita emulation guide and showcase? There aren't very many videos about Vita games on the Steam Deck, they don't show any set up, just that a handful of games are playable and most aren't.

Just curious, what PS3 games have you tested that run well? I’ve only found a handful of games that I would consider playable (meaning, games are full-speed and don’t exhibit audio crackling when falling below target FPS)
Hell my i7-7700HQ struggles with Jak and Daxter 1, the Steam Deck is more powerful than my gaming laptop HAHAHA!

you can use the same SD card for your steam games and emulation games. no need to use 2nd card. unless you prefer to do it that way.

last of us, god of war 3 and some other heavily demanding games are just not running quite well on the deck at this moment.

Use 7ZIP software instead of Windows Explorer to view and copy the contents of iso files. that will solve the problems.

Great video work straight away for me but just one question, everytime I boot up a ps3 the fans in my steam deck goes nuts even if it’s a small title like plants vs zombies 2, is this normal?
I think that is just normal. PS3 emulation is pretty hard to run even on high end gaming PC.

Excellent tutorial, informative and straight to the point. EmuDeck does not detect my SD card, it's detected on desktop mode, but I did notice when I'm in game mode , it's not detected but i can play non steam games off of the SD card. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Thank you. I think that’s a system glitch. Try turn off deck then remove the sd card and put it back in and power on the deck.
@@ED4T Thenks , I just tried and installed emudeck and my sd card is still not detected. I tried to choose custom location, chose my SD card and got non writable directory selected, please choose another. My SD card is formatted in exFat so I can put it on my Pc and copy files over.

@@brethbk69 Sorry, but let me help you greatly: You should insert the SD card in the Steam Deck, and format it there; you can use Deckyloader (or "Decky") to do something called "DeckMTP"
Follow those simple instructions, because then you can plug your Steam Deck into your PC, and transfer stuff (by way of the Type-C port on top of the Deck and the other (presumably Type-A) into the PC,) as though it were an old walkman or Cell phone
Essentially, abandon using the MicroSD being formatted any way other than Internal Steam Deck; then simply plug it into your PC as though it were a cell phone

Ok so this was somewhat useful but the one problem I have is when you decided to skip details on how to get PS3 roms/games also I don own a PC to download games or roms through so I'm just stuck with the steam deck if anyone knows a way I can download games through the steam deck please lmk thanks
So this tutorial worked perfectly and I got it working for Spider Man Shattered Dimensions. One quick thing I wanna ask though, is it possible to just add the games to Emulation Station and not have the PS3 game parcers show up in my Steam library. I realize a lot of people like it this way, but me personally I like have all my roms just in Emulation Station and not cluttered in Steam Library

decryption file is the files created during the decrypting process there is no need to download those files.
