    Those dances are super traditional. So in primary school(elementary)we would do these dances and have a show for the families, this was in the 80's. I'm glad the tradition has continued.

    The girl in this vlog was of maroon heritage which is why her grandparents knew about these things most Jamaicans who aren’t of maroon families including myself have never heard of these things

    The Tambu is mainly from Trelawny in western Jamaica. there is much more to there dances than what being presented..it is true dancehall has incorporated Jamaican Folk forms....mr WACKY is a standout.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣 Had me cracking up with this reaction! Its pretty harmless fun for Caribbean people to whine and grind on randoms with their partners watching, esp during Carnival. I would love to know the history of Bamboo walk too, its the only one I haven't heard of. Lots of stray animals about in rural areas, lots of open yards without fencing. Thank you for reacting fam!💛💚🖤

    Interesting the only people in Jamaica who have any knowledge of the African names associated with these dances are the maroons who were escaped slaves who escaped the British plantations on the island a lot of them retained many of there old African ways and traditions of course thts not the majority of Jamaica though most of us are descended from slaves

      @dougie_main 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its East African. The term sugua is a Swahili word meaning to rub. Rubbing your feet on the stone to make them clean. Chakacha was the dance

      @@dougie_main the dances in sugua gaga was influenced by Jamaica, check Jamaican dance videos 20 years ago and you'll see twerking and all those split and supposedly trying to wine moves in them. that song is about 8 years old, twerking is older than me in the caribbean.
