Better days made the days and nights of the early 90s a great time and place. Thanks to Johhny and the fellas for a tough and beautiful album. Better days forever.
I spent many a night at the Stone Pony. I worked as a cocktail waitress 3 blocks north. I've always thought that Southside Johnny, in my humble opinion, was much better than Bruce. I miss you Ocean Avenue. What a great time it was to be alive.
a real classic from southside johnny, saw him at the grand opera house in york november 2009, all l can say is superb. Pity he never sings little girl so fine in concert, written by the boss but southside brings real meaning to it
When that album was recorded (This Time It's For Real) the 1977 version of the Drifters backed up Southside on it. One of my faves from that album, as well.
I saw him many years ago at The Original Paladium in NYC after they released The Jukes album. Incredible performance with their out of this world horn section.
Been loving these for over 40 years now! Payed to see them at Knebworth, 1979 (amoung other places & times). Turned out that Led Zepplin, another group on the bill, were quite good!
A girl I worked with in the 80s followed Bon Jovi EVERYWHERE they played, in Jersey. I'll bet she's in the audience. She knew every move he/the band made.
check out the clip with ssj and bruce doing this together. and to think it took till 2005 for bruce to put it on devils and dust, and then not the soulful version. that is the beauty of springsteen's songs. wish ssj and bs would tour together..can you imagine that
Bruce wrote this song but nobody could sing this song better than Southside Johnny this night at the Stone Pony in 1991. Totally awesome performance!!
One of the great vocalists....

One of my favourite ever albums......brilliant!
Springsteen gave away more great songs then some people ever wrote -and he always gave them to people who knew what to do with them.
Southside, Bruce, Stevie Van Zandt. That's talent, judgement and JERSEY.
Johnny sings it good though
South has the BEST R&R voice ever- Bar none….
One of the greatest songs of all time done beautifully by one of the greatest song interpreters ever...
I've always seen Bruce as the King of Rock and Southside as the Crown Prince
I was their at that concert at the pony. Johnnie you were and still are great brother.miss you on the shore.
Nobody can sing this like Johnny...Hi Maxx!!

I love this song. Hits me right in my soul every time I play it.
We thank God for Bruce and his want and need to use his songs to elevate other great performers.
One of the great crooners 🎶
Best performance I've ever seen live was SS Johnny and band at the Whisky in 1978. How does that little dude find that huge inspiring voice?
The Godfather of Jersey Shore rock... enough said.

Johnny sings like an angel and Bruce writes like God.

Nice! A Juke, an E Streeter and a member of Bon Jovi all in one video
OMG Bon Jovi before anyone knew who he was!! Going to see Southside Johnny in early November; can't wait.
I absolutely love this. The arrangement is soooo Willy DeVille (Mink DeVille). Lovely. Discovered it last night and binged it heartily.
