    Philippine Soldiers prefer this blade to a close combat. A blade design for an eskrima practitioner. mabuhay Pilipinas ipagmalaki natin ang ating sining dahil minamahal ng banyaga ang sariling atin.

      Ang problema wala nagtuturo ng Arnis Kali dito sa Maynila na maestro.
      Nakakalungkot at hindi dito binibigyan ng importansya ang sariling martial arts.

    It's one of the best blade from Philippines. They are made from train railroad. So hard, sharp and unique blades.

    • @sumakwelvictoria5635
      @sumakwelvictoria5635 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Blades created from train tracks are very hard to find now. No old unused train tracks anymore or at least a cheap source of it.
      Most blacksmiths in the Philippines use old leaf springs mostly.
      Although I have heard of transmission axles used.
      I have heard of a blacksmith using big aircraft ball bearing metal. The toughest metal they have ever worked on so they say.

    There are only five vowel sounds in Philippine languages, similar to Spanish. Ah, Eh, Ih, O (short o without any W sound), and U as in umami. Double vowels are pronounced separately and don't blend together so "daan" (path) is pronounced as [DAH-an].

    Bicuco? Not sure man, i'm ilonggo, and in hiligaynon it's binakuko (bee-nah-ko-kuh). It's not just a sword, it's an everyday tool. Used in the farm and the field.
    Thanks for showcasing our philippine blade. 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

    • @andoylanggid
      @andoylanggid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bicuco and Binakuko are 2 different swords. It could be that Bicuco was influenced or derived from Binakuko. They are both long swords with a sharp edge halfway along the back. The Moro Binakuko looks nastier and deadlier. It has a distinct curve with a sharp back edge. The name derived from the local name given to a kind of fish, with a nasty sharp and long back fin.

      If you see blacksmiths in the Philippines try buying his swords & bolos.
      They are a dying breed.
      If you buy it somewhere where Arnis Kali is still practiced you will notice war blades usually have a better quality than somewhere it isn't practiced seriously.

    All of these blades are so similar to what the Phillipine Recons and marines use

    • @andoylanggid
      @andoylanggid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Technically, they use the ginunting, a Bisaya sword. You're correct, they are quite similar, except that in ginunting the back edge does not go so far, only on the tip. This mean the blade could be safely brought close to the body of the bearer without cutting oneself, especially in close combat in tight places, while the Bicuco could be quite dangerous to the bearer in that situation. Plus the Ginunting is black steel. Useful in night time ambush. In our village, a tribal chieftain daughter got married to somebody from the lowland. Its customary for the bridal party to be preceded by dancing men weilding double ginunting, one on each hand. The groom party turned white to a person. Sadly, tradition like this are no more due to the "peace and order" ordinances.
