      @@101boertjie you can also request for some designs, i still remember my grandfather's balisong the lock of the balisong was made by pure gold and he has also his name carve in the knife that was so beautiful but ever since he died I've never seen it again, maybe they put his knives in his tomb.

    Bente Nuebe (Spanish for Veinte Nueve) originally was the measurement of an open Balisong in Centimeters.

    Fun fact: the very first design and idea of a balisong actually came from france and was brought to the philippines during the spanish colonisation, it was we filipinos who perfected the design and so it's widely known as a filipino knife

    I wouldn’t say that balisong making will die, as balisongs are being made on massive scale with companies such as benchmade making them on a professional level.
    However, traditionally the craft will die out. It won’t die out fully, as the internet and multiple resources exist to keep the records and instructions there. But the interest will die out at some point, but like many things, it will come back. Balisongs are the katanas of the knife world, they will never truly die out and the craft will keep going

    They are using 5160 Spring Steel for the blade. That blade can puncture and penetrate a silver dollar or a quarter dollar coin with just a one hard poke and the point of the blade didn't even break They are hand forged great Craftsmanship.

      The only way you could buy knives from him is through dealers at Barrio Balisong Batangas and via the internet at www.balisong.com

      In Barangay Balisong in Taal, Batangas, there are stores along the road that sell balisongs. You can get an original 29 cm (handle is made of brass, not aluminum) for about 20USD. If you end up at Ona`s, store, the price is 5x more because he deals with foreigners who don't know that the original can be had for only 20USD. It is the same knives sold at balisong.com, if not better. I know this because I was there last week.

    bilang balisong enthusiast dito sa pilipinas, piling ko kailangan ng pilipinas na makapagbreak in ng todo sa flipping market worldwide kung gusto pa nating tumagal itong craft na to long term. i mean oo tradition is tradition pero kung pwede naman sana ay magkaroon ng kahit isang shop o company na gumagawa ng traditional na balisong na may modern na materials, machining, flipping balance, pivot mechanisms, at hardware pwede pa tayo maging competitive sa balisong market worldwide, lalo na kung yung price ay tama. now yung sentiment na nakikita ko mula sa mga dayuhan ay gusto nilang kunin pang display lamang, gusto ko din sana bilang pilipino makita yung gawa natin finiflip din competitively, di lang pang display.

    Remember guys, a balisong is not a true balisong if it cannot pierce a 1 peso coin without damaging the tip, that is the mark of a TRUE balisong batangas. All Balisong Batangas are tested that way.

      No ethnic group in the Philippines uses karambit, we have similar curve knives though.

    Im filipino and 15 i own a balisong and was taken away from me because i brought it to school, but i want to learn the craft, im from laguna please let me learn the craft and i shall preserve it

    The only bladed weapon we have at home is a samurai sword from world war II. It was confiscated by my father from a madman.
