Our first home was a version of one of these. Appliances were pink with sliding doors between rooms. Life was so simple and precious. Our first child lived in this home with us for 2 years . Loved every minute .
I love this little place. It was only a year-old when I was born. I remember those radios and when the tv looked like that. The Formica table and chairs, tv, the doll all work to give the trailer vintage charm. 😊
There was one identical to this in a very tiny trailer park (9 units tops) in the next town over from me..always wondered what the interior was like.. i thought it was really cool and had character. The park had it pulled out and a new unit (also very small) put in its place.. new unit is nice but doesn't have the same character as the one it replaced.. thank you for sharing
My grandparents also had the 2 bedroom version -- they used it as a lakehouse. I well remember the built-in dresser/dressing table in the smaller bedroom, the sliding pocket doors that separated the bedrooms from the bathroom, the outward-opening windows that were opened by a crank, and the round window in the back door (I always thought it looked like a ship's porthole). It was always a special treat to "go to the lake with Mama and Papa." I enjoyed the trailer as much as the lake itself. Fond memories.
Those that were kept up lasted as long as a normal home, as most were built fairly solid back then... I think that the window leaks caused most of the damage to them, as they needed a solid window awning build around the windows that prevented water from getting near the window seals. The windows were usually the main leakage spot, causing the rot. I would love to see all the new mobile homes be covered with a ceramic tin roof, and siding, with ceramic tin window awnings... Build to last.
Wow! I lived in one almost identical to this one many years ago. It was myself and my two daughters when they were young. I Loved living in it. Brings back some good memories. Thanks for sharing!
1955 was a great year, the year I was born! Time to get my eyes rechecked, though. 👓 I thought I saw a child peering through the front door window before you opened it and kept waiting for you to introduce this little person sometime during the tour, but they were quite evasive! Turns out it was just the glare off the glass 🤦♀️ 😂
That's adorable. When I was a little more than a baby, my parents lived in a trailer similar to this one on my aunt's property. And you showed the counter, I had this flashback of me climbing up on the counter with a bowl of Raisin Bran spilling it everywhere. I might have been 2 years old.
Oh my goodness, this is sweet, I luv the windows to the doors I haven't seen those in a long time and the refrigerator brings back memories, we had a similar fridge with the door handle you pull towards you to open.
I have what I believe to be this exact trailer except much older. The inside and floor plane are nearly identical. The size appears to be the same. The main difference is that mine has real redwood siding on it and a comp shingle roof. It's in original condition with the stove being the only piece missing. All original windows and doors. I'm so glad to have found this video as I had no idea of the make and model of mine. I got it from a fellow who'd bought a large piece of property that included this trailer under a canopy built to protect it. He was going to demolish it. I'll check out your other vids.
It looks just like the trailer my gramma lived in back in the seventies. Brings back a lot of memories of spending weekends sleeping in the couch in her living room
I’d love to live in it actually. I rented one a bit newer than this but not by much. It had two bedrooms with sliding doors so you walked down the small hallway and walked thru the first bedroom then back to the hallway in between the bedrooms was the bathroom which I thought was just the right size for my little family, to the back bedroom. It was sweet really although I didn’t appreciate it much during that time getting a divorce while I had discovered I was pregnant and taking care of my 3yr old daughter. But I look back at it now and it was my savior. Warm and cozy too. Utilities were included if I remember correctly.
@@denisekenney6436 This little mobile here in the video is really nice. I appreciate The nostalgia of this old time unit. I’m gonna be looking for one of these or very similar for my Northwoods property. Nice, small and cozy. I love the decor of this unit in the video. I hope I can find something very similar to this one. Glad to hear that you and your children are all situated, hopefully in a home you’re very happy in. 👍🙂
I would think that as light as these are, one could probably pull it with a truck... meaning could park it in a camp ground that has monthly rates. These older mobile homes pass for pull-type campers.
I have a table like yours... The One Half table in the Living room. I love it... It came w 2 chairs but I gave them away. The table is a treasure... It fits anywhere. ! Enjoyed yr video.
We had one for many years as a guest house at our cabin - not exactly the same - front windows were slightly different and it had a double axle. Thanks for doing both the videos
@@vintagemobilehome2685 wow that little mobile home is adorable very nice...I'm 48 brings back those memories when I stayed with my grandparents when I was 5... in California in a Spartan mobile home...
Gorgeous. I've had my eye on one back home for many years. Now that someone actually cut all the weeds it's been around it for 30 Years anyway. It's even more gorgeous and I want it even more now. One of these days I'm just going to go walk up to the door and ask them how much it will take for it as is I don't care it is gorgeous.
As a new wife married to a Naval Airman in 1964, we could find nothing for rent we could afford. We rented a 1950s trailer near the base. I remember it was a something "Star." It was almost identical to this one only smaller. It had less counter space and only a shower in the bathroom. The bed was.full size, with a bookcase headboard and all together the bed took up the entire width of the bedroom. It had a kerosene heater and a sliding door between the bedroom and the rest of the trailer. The door and screen door and the stove, refrigerator, and small couch were almost identical. The eating table was wooden and drop-leaf, with one leaf doubling as an ironing board and a silverware drawer. Only two wooden chairs. The entire trailer was birch. I believe the trailer we.rented was.the same brand but probably older.
When I first got married, my husband and I lived for five years, in a similar version of this trailer, but with two bedrooms. Yes, that bathroom is small but it was enough to get the job done! We used to always joke about the small sink and the toilet being so close to each other... "You can brush your teeth and go to the bathroom at the same time!"😅🤣😂
Very complete & original! I would paint or spruce up the upside of it a bit. Polish any stainless, repaint the mid-band, etc. Storage? No way....I could call that home on the weekends! My own little get-away!
Very similar to a home we had. Only ours had small windows by the ceiling. Was a good old trailer. Ours was living room, kitchen, tiny room maybe for a nursery???, sliding door to bathroom, sliding door to bedroom.
Old trailers in good condition are beautiful. About 25 years ago I moved to Florida and I purchased my land which also had a 1956 Buddy trailer on it. Similar to this but it has a much roomier bathroom. Back in the 90's most people were taking their old beautiful trailers out and replacing them with new ones. What a mistake because they almost need replacing again while I just did minor refurbishing with polyurethane and new flooring to make mine new again. It is like living in a time capsule for the last 25 years. My trailer and it's own land, "no lot rentals or park fees" cost me $6800 in early mid 90's but I am guessing it's worth 3 or 4 times that today.
Thanks for your comment. When I lived in Stuart Fl there was a park that was full of '40's and '50's trailers. It is where I got the interest. Please let me know if you post any video's of your trailer or sell it!
Well I am a couple hundred miles north and west of Stuart in a place called Silver Springs in the Ocala national forest. I love it here and will be going north for the summer soon, but if I ever get a recording device I might try to make a video some day.
Found a General derelict in 2019 dumped in Cabool, MO. Built by a family that owned a large sawmill, so its framework is all rough Oak. Interesting shape.
39 million people now can not buy a home, 0% down is history. We are looking into building 10x50 2bedroom mobile homes, just within the limits of 80% of all RV parks and to be priced under $30,000 move in ready. All steel framed. At 10x50 moving cost are very minimal.
I would not change any thing. All the original thing's you have came with it and it's the erra of the home which I think make's for a much cozier home!
I'll take it! 2500! I live in Joanna...15 miles away. Let me know...I don't collect campers so if it is something special I don't mean to insult you but I have been looking a couple months now.
TV picture tube and sound seem to work, but I don't get any stations where I am at without a digital converter box. Stove works great as does fridge. Radio does not work. Definitely copper wiring, not aluminum. Two circuits. I cannot remember how many amps each.
A beautiful time capsule!, this one definitely deserves TLC!, 😊❤
Our first home was a version of one of these. Appliances were pink with sliding doors between rooms. Life was so simple and precious. Our first child lived in this home with us for 2 years . Loved every minute .

Very nice classic mobile home. Love the original fixtures. Originality has always been very important to me.
Still in nice condition to be as old as it is.I loved this video. All original too!
Love the originality of this mobile home! So glad to see a vintage radio and TV there too, since that's one of my favorite hobbies!
It's a beauty. Love all of the original features. Love that vintage TV!
The birch wood is lovely. Love the round windows in the doors, original appliances and the vintage TV. Yay!
