"O come, o Wisdom from on high, Who ordered all things mightily,
To us the path of knowlege show
And teach us in its ways to go..."

a great theological AND practical point....learning how to wait....patience in the Lord through His Word is the only way to bear this and I never viewed it in this manner.

Ready to go or stay. God’s will, not my will. God is great!

I appreciate the Lutheran eschatology! I am no longer a dispensationalist!

I figure if the Lord is patient, not wanting any to perish, then though I'm ready to go now, I'm also more than ready to wait for this reason.

In training for Army service, from day one we were to always be prepared; ready is too short sighted.

“Maybe it’s December 31st somewhere else in the world…” That gave me a chuckle. World needs more chuckles right now for sure. Keep ‘em coming, Wolfmueller!

I seriously wonder, if the state of Israel was destroyed again, how many of these evangelic Zionists would lose their faith.

I had been told in youth group that Christ would return before the end of the1970s but it didn't happen so when I heard that a pastor wrote 88 reasons why Christ would return in 1988 and the next year wrote 89 reasons Christ would return in 1989 I didn't believe it.

I’ve heard it said “it’s easier to die for Christ, than live for Christ” You posed a similar idea. Are you ready to wait?

To answer your question of "Where did the Lord make such a promise," those who believe that he did would cite Revelation 3:10-11 (NIV): Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
Yes, it's apocalyptic writing, and no, interpretation of it should not put it in conflict with other less symbolic Scriptures on this subject, but there it is. There is a passage that promises an escape from tribulation that shall come upon those who do not escape.

Ok pastor I have a question that is off topic , but it is on my mind every Christmas.
The Lord forgives our sins not by anything we do good but because of the GIFT of Jesus.
We tell our young children that you better be good otherwise Santa won’t give you any GIFTS.
Whenever I bring up-this thought I feel like I am the grinch of Christmas. Am I going to far in my desire to keep Christ in Christmas.

I tell people all the time the oil is your faith. That is why the wise virgins could not give faith to the foolish virgins. We each have to attend to nourishing our own faith.

Yes, the Oil is usually considered to be reference to faith or the filling/anointing of the Holy Spirit. The Oil is the fuel for your LIGHT to SHINE ("let your light so shine that they may see your good works and glorify Your Father in Heaven").

2:10 mark is not true. The abomination of desolation has not occurred. We still have one sign to wait for.

Most everyone I know believes in the rapture. As I’ve studied scripture and even pastored I’ve found that a split second coming isn’t found in scripture. The second advent is a one time occurrence! And no! We can’t interpret eschatological apocalyptic scriptures by watching current world events on the news! Scripture always interprets scripture!

Sir, the Lord Jesus Christ came to His own the Jews and He told them to not go to the way of the gentiles. It wasn't time yet for the gentiles. Paul was a chosen vessel to bring the mystery of the gospel that was not known before. Jesus himself came to Paul and gave him that mystery. God wants Jews and gentiles to come and listen to Paul's gospel. After the rapture God will keep HIS promises and everlasting covenant with HIS chosen remnant of Israel
