This is one of my favorite movies. My husband grew up in Hawai’i, and then we were stationed there for 3 years with the Army. The culture gets into your soul. I was sad to leave, but we go back and visit my mother-in-law. Our daughter has a Hawaiian middle name, originally given to me by my coworkers. My daughter got to help choreograph her middle school’s production of Moana Jr, and our friends and family were kind of her consultants. It was such a privilege for her to do.
I can relate to her, I was always drawn to the water, for as long as I can remember. I always felt that pull to go explore what is on other lands for myself, but also felt that need to stay and help the family.
My friend is member of the Royal Family in Hawaii the last remaining descendants of the Royals. His last name is literally one of the Island called Maui😂
Ah mate. Memories of watching this so many, many, many, many, many times with my niece. And crying when watching her singing the songs with heart. This still stands as a good movie, although I would love to see it with the more ethnic Encanto treatment. She loooooves Encanto now. We don't talk about Maui!

Same thing i get very emotional whenever i see that part where the grandma is walking with her at the sand of the beach.. it's it's very nostalgic..
The singer is Christopher Jackson-He’s George Washington in Hamilton. Lin Manuel wrote all the Moana songs!
Yes it’s very strong in Polynesian culture, Polynesia is made up of Hawai’i, Samoa, Tahiti, New Zealand and many other islands in the South Pacific.

You would absolutely love the Moana cover by Voiceplay. To me it is superb!
