  • The weathering hypothesis states that chronic exposure to social and economic disadvantage leads to an accelerated decline in physical health outcomes and could partially explain racial disparities in a wide array of health conditions.
In our commitment to creating a more equitable health system, NICHQ acknowledges the impacts of both navigating racist systems and working to dismantle them. In honor of National Minority Mental Health Month, NICHQ's Department of Health Equity Innovation hosted a conversation about equity fatigue and weathering and highlighted strategies for maintaining momentum and engagement in equity initiatives.
