  • Shopify has a new native connector for Google Analytics 4. In this video I try out the new connector and look at the out of the box implementation it does to your Shopify store. Will it install only the Tracking code or customize our implementation with the Ecommerce tracking functionality? Let’s find out.

Could you share the three purchase event data layer variables (full path) for ID, currency and value? Thanks 🙏

How does this work in relation to server side tracking?
Does the native GA4 integration use server side tracking or does it just use the browser?

From a Google Ads perspective the new channel app is very confusing.
It apparently allows Performance Max campaigns to be created from within the app.
BUT I don't want those. What I do want is to run Google Search campaigns and Shopping campaigns that I created within the Google Ads dashboard.
However, it is not clear how, or where, I deploy the conversion tracking code required for a search campaign.

thanks for the insight. Didn't particularly look at Google Ads here.

I agree its so confusing i still cant get google ads to track conversions

Do you know how it works now? Because I also have problems with my conversion tracking inside google ads when I’m running Google search campaigns…

Can the Google App be used in parallel to GTM?

    • @MeasureSchool

      yes, I wouldn't see a problem

@@MeasureSchool Yes, there seems to be an issue deploying both simultaneously to a single website - The native app initiates an additional GA4 config tag, so the issue is it sends duplicate events into the GA4 property. And, AFAIK, there's no option to edit the events sent from the app.
If you have yet to notice duplicated events when using both GTM and the app simultaneously, then there's probably something that I need to include in the setup...?

@@user-id2fe4ox5d Same question here! Since you can't have the Tag in GTM, custom events are not available. Or is there another way to send events to GA4 through GTM?

@@user-id2fe4ox5d @MeasureSchool How do we avoid duplicates? I still didnt connect the native integration to my Shopify, but i have a question. The Purchase Event is one of the automatically tracked events by the new Native GA4 integration. But i have also already created a purchase event on GTM. Should i pause it on GTM before deploying the native integration?

GA4 sucks. The data is NOT correct. Every day the tracking of sales is 10-20% inaccurate. I dont know why Shopify messed this up

    • @1234rfvcxy
      @1234rfvcxy ปีที่แล้ว

It's totally normal that the tracking is inaccurate, since it's using google client side code which can be blocked by adblockers. Usually the percentage of users using ad blockers is around 20-40 percent depending on the country...

@@1234rfvcxy Well then GA4 is entirely useless. There is ZERO reason to install it if it gives you false analytics

    • @dmitrypodoleev6992

@@1234rfvcxy 20-40 % is too much I have not encountered such numbers before. But actually this integration is not good. Before I have implemented GA4 ecommerce in Shopify manually with GTM and dataLayer method via code and my discrepancy was always 5-10 %.
Yes, there was no opportunity to implement begin_checkout event on Non-Plus stores manually with GTM. But 5-10 % discrepancy was often normal.
Now we have tried to map this native integration because it gives begin_checkout event with adding missing view_cart or view_item_list events manually but after a week of implementation we see that the discrepancy in purchases is too much. And we've tried to investigate what's the reason but there are no clues at all. The only thing is that most of the stores from EU zone are affected. At the same time one Australian store has about 3 % discrepancy.
