there’s a saying when you listen to Tool, “ Everyone is a Tool fan, they just don’t know it yet” and i stand by it 💯

Saturn is the astrological symbol for Karma and can also represent when people reach maturity somewhere between 27-29, which is the same as Saturn's cycle. The stone is a weight that hold you down and is also a reference to the philosopher's stone from Alchemy which was sought to transmute metal (usually lead) into gold. More TOOL! Any song. They don't have a bad one.

For sure keep bringing up the lyrics for these. Each band member are at the top of their craft, including the singer/lyricist. Maynard's lyrics are always poetic, layered with meaning and introspective. He truly treats his voice like an instrument so it would be best to be able to understand and read what his instrument is saying. As for songs to review, their whoile catalog really but here's a few for now. I agree with Jamie Stevener below, "Pushit" off Aenima, then "Jambi" off 10,000 Days, "The Patient" off Lateralus, and "Descending" off Fear Inoculum. Thank you for coming back to Tool every week or so, I enjoy your other reactions so far too.

Yeah, I love hip hop man. But Tool is the most inspirational and life changing band I've ever encountered. It's smart, beautiful, it rocks, it's just an experience.

Welcome to the Tool journey! This album is considered pretty perfect by most fans. It's really something special, but so is their discography. I like that you had the lyrics on your other monitor, definitely a good way to do things. Maynard has incredible vocals and writes the lyrics after hearing the instrumentals. Danny is the best drummer of our generation and one of the best of all time - they call him the Octopus. They were known for their music videos actually, as the guitar player (Adam) is very creative musically and artistically. The bass player (Justin) also is very creative with his riffs. Been around since the 90s and their run of Undertow - Aenima - Lateralus (albums) is one of the best of any band ever, just kept getting better. The last couple albums (10,000 Days and Fear Inoculum) are also really really good, with the former being the most accessible to a broader audience and the latter being really progressive. Their first EP and albums have an angrier and more raw sound, while the last albums have a more polished and progressive sound. They're all great.

ALWAYS choose lyrics over official music videos when it comes to Tool. If you want to watch anything live by them, check out Carey on his drum solo on the song Pnuema. One of the best drummers I've EVER heard or seen!

Yes, for TOOL newcomers, go with the lyrics. But avoid music videos till you're more experienced with the band. They can be overwhelming.

If only I had a camera in my car in the 90’s recording my reactions to my first time listening to tool on tape. Fair to say this band is responsible for all my speeding tickets.

Skip the Tool music videos, I hate watching a Tool reaction only for the reactors to go "wow this video is so weird, what the heck is even going on" all the while ignoring the music!

  • @Shmellix

I finally realized what Maynards long scream in this song reminds me of. It's that scene from the princess bride where Wesley is being tortured by the guy with 6 fingers and he lets out that long scream that can be heard all across the land

Yes!! I’m shocked you didn’t comment on Maynard’s super long scream/yell!! Most talented band ever! This album is my favorite! Every song is just exquisite! But I would love to hear your reaction to “Pushit” from the Ænima album!!

You can pick pretty much any Tool song and be astonished. Some songs are 2 or 3 parts in order to put the next song/songs into context. They have been my favorite band since about 1990.
