Postseason interviews revealed that chase was never a contender to win I guess they just didn't want sash to get second place so for contestants on their own without consulting the other ones put a vote on Chase to make sure he came in second and if one more person would have done that chase would have won and it's not just a rumor either people even references sometimes in the comments when it comes to talking about this season

Downplaying your threat level by playing up a certain characteristic is definitely a viable way to play now. Between Fabio and Maryanne Oketch (who I do think played a better version of this strategy) we’ve seen it’s a great way to get the victory.

i have fabio as a low tier winner not becuase he's dumb, his strategy was indeed effective but he was very passive strategically until around the final 7 and i think chase was much more well rounded and in the know/in control throughout the game

I was so happy when he won .... after Brenda was voted off I lost the interest and Nayonka was the worst contestant in 21 years .... I hated her so much ... I was rooting for Fabio he really had no clue most of the time but last 3 immunity challenges come on that has to count for something and he was so genuine .... it got him somewhere ....

Wow, the difference in crowd reactions between Chase and Fabio getting votes was really rude. Fabio got a bunch of cheers but Chase got barely anything. I mildly liked Fabio, and seeing him win was fine, but I wanted Chase to win the most.

But out of the final 3, Fabio definitely was my favorite. Chase was dumb and the kind of dumb that thinks he's smart but is actually stupid. And Sash is just arrogant and an annoying liar. I agree, I think what hurt the season is there wasn't really any interesting female characters like Parvati. I mean some people say Brenda but the female I actually found the most interesting was the lady that put the shoes in the water so it was one of the weaker female casts. I do think Fabio made a great hero and Sash a great villain.
At first I didn’t think Fabio deserved the win when I started watching but the more I watched the season the more I understood why he won. Honestly I would be pissed if Chase or Sash won so I’m glad a good player won a TERRIBLE season.
