Still wild to think of the part we played individually and as a group as far as being super into it, having been sent product and all that. To then being banned and all that and seeing the unfolding of everything lol
I'd like to think we were the forefathers of Metazoo's destruction, lol.
Mike was an ideas guy, he was wanting to do so much with the IP (imitating Pokemon really) but failed to ensure they had a good foundation to build from.
Hard to do that when you spend your time making fun of your customers.
Everyone is an ideas guy. Real skill is to deliver that idea to the world. He delivered a product, but from my own impressions MetaZoo didn't seem to have a lot of quality control/vigorous playtesting. MetaZoo seems like one of those ideas by people that couldn't execute the hardest parts. Mainly that foundation. Which requires vision beyond just ideas.
Another shout out for flesh and blood tcg cool gameplay nice art and a nice community.
I miss playing FaB. Might have to get back into it.

I remember watching that podcast, it’s like MetaZoo ran their discord as a totalitarian state.
Shame on the people running the company, they must have known the game wouldn’t last in 2024 but acted as if everything would be ok completely burning their fans/players.
That's exactly what they did. Very recently, they even posted their road map in 2024 on how to get back on track. They tricked everyone.
I was banned for agreeing with someone who said trump won and should be president. I say "i agree". Then i was instantly banned. They banned people who did not align politically with them. The biggest mistake an upcoming "ip" can do is not being politically neutral. They must remain neutral to maximize the customer base. They failed basic common sense.
Awesome video ren, sad to see this happen but it was inevitable honestly. Maybe there’s a new brighter future though
The IP isn't dead yet, and I imagine they are shopping for buyers. Not sure that would solve anything though.

Meta zoo is definitely a dying game for play and collection. I never could get into it all that much, but the company as a whole isn't very good. It's unfortunate

I can only speak for myself, but its the fact that Mike and Andy (Metazoo team) are gone. As I said in the video, it sucks that they get out with the money and the community are the ones lest to rot here.

Holy crap i never looked into the community stuff cause of the NFT scams on discord. I got the hell out of there and i just been silently collecting cards. This sounds very similiar to how argent saga died, the owner just had thin skin.

I don’t know anything about Metazoo, but how does someone get banned from a card game? Like you can’t go to events?
Yes, they ban you from participating in their events, kicked me off of their discord and all social media's. So I could collect and whatever, but I would never be able to play in official tournaments, join their social stuff, anything like that.

Why do we not have a sailor moon CCG?? Also, people should check out the new Digimon TCG and dragon ball CCG! Dragon ball CCG gets a lot of hate for its game play, but I think it's fine. If nothing else, the cards are awesome to collect!

@@RensCollectibles yes and their new cards are good quality and look great! There are some huge pulls you can get right now and most boxes are reasonably priced! Bandai is crushing it lately

There is only Magic and Pokémon, who stood the test of time, the rest is just white noise and if someone "invests" in anything else I dont have any pity if they lose their money...that doenst mean people shouldn't play and enjoy other tcgs.
That's the difference, playing/collecting versus investing.

I didn't leave it out, it was because I was associated with someone who liked a post on IG that Mike didn't like. So I got booted because I knew someone else.
Can you be more specific? In this video nothing you said here was included and it's titled "this is why meta zoo failed" and opens eith the banning as a key point. I still don't even know what ig post or people you are talking about. I went back about a year of videos and found nothing there for reference either.

That's something I said at the beginning, there was no game. People claimed thousands of people were playing, but there was never proof to it.
@@RensCollectibles i... actually never saw the cards sold anywhere i mean i live in a large german city, we have a friggn LARGE LGS which stores some of obscure games. And even they didn't store it

Metazoo IP is worthless, Cryptids aren't that popular to begin with and they are all in the public domain. If someone wanted to make a cryptid TCG they would be better off making up their own IP.
There is a cartoon called the Secret Saturdays, it was about cryptids, but they also made up a bunch of original cryptids so they actually have something to copyright.
I'm sure someone will capitalize off of cryptids for a tcg. It's an open space that is still popular enough.

In the early days, yes. But after they banned me for no reason, no. Mike and his team were awful and metazoo went down because of them.
