I'm hoping to spend the month of October 2021 in Panama. Curious to know how many updates will have happened from the time of this video from October 2020. Has anyone traveled to Panama recently? Do you still need the PCR test if you're fully vaccinated? Once again, thanks for this informative video, Kristin!
Thanks Kristin. As a current resident of Panama your information is absolutely correct. After 7 months of a hard lockdown finally things are open again. Would it be possible to do a video on the US and specific requirements for certain tourism states like Miami and LA? Thank you very much for the great content as always
You’re so welcome, Mershin! Yes I will look into that! Here in Miami there don’t seem to be any specific requirements. Would you be traveling from PTY-MIA?
I’m supposed to be going to Panama very soon to stay with a friend on Bastimentos, really not sure whether I should or not, I’d be travelling alone from London if I’d 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤯 could really do with the break too 😩
Hi Bailey! Oh, Bastimentos is nice! It’s hard to say if you should go or not as we can’t tell if anything would happen... however if you can get the test in time or test negative upon arrival and have time to wait for the results, it could be worth going if you take precautions while traveling. Of course, staying home is always the safest but many people are also traveling safely on a regular basis during the pandemic. Hope this helps! Follow your heart ❤️😉
@@TravelingwithKristin also re test, they’re apparently doing them at the airport on arrival, would you recommend this or trying to get one before I leave? I was a bit concerned on the 48hr timescale. But then also didn’t want to be cueing for hours for the test in the airport?!
@@bailey2913 Hi, I'm Panamanian and I've had many friends travel back and forth from their home countries within the last month. You can either attempt to get tested within 48 from your flight and reflecting a negative result (it's possible to achieve this, I've had friends come in from france and israel with this method) or you could pay for the test upon arrival at the airport, but commit and submit to quarantine for 48 hours or until you receive the results to your test. In the case that you are caught breaching the quarantine, you will be fined from $50 to $1,000 (it varies depending on the degree of violation to the confinement terms.) SO, if you're not willing to wait for your test results while you're in Panama, you should attempt to take the test before arriving :)
@@kimmyc89 thanks for the advice Kim, I wasn’t aware I would have to wait that long for my results, that’s changed my ideas on getting the test on arrival. Would you recommend getting a connecting flight to Bocas, or do you think it’s ok by road?
@@bailey2913 wow I don't even know about the possibility of flying in to Bocas honestly, we are divided into provinces and Bocas del Toro is unfortunately one of the provinces that they still have under strict lock down with like a 7 pm curfew in most of the province and no roaming around on the weekends (friday to sunday) so you'd essentially have monday to thursday from 5 am to 7 pm to do whatever you'd like to do... there are some regions that are an exception, but I am unsure of where you are headed to. I'd recommend flying directly to the main airport (tocumen) instead and then see where to? Panama is pretty small, but we also have SOME mobility restrictions from province to province, there are some beaches that are closer to the city about 2 hours or less (depending on where you'd like to go) that are open to the public now versus a month ago where you couldn't even travel to the beach. If you have any other questions let me know!

I was planning on taking a bus, are you aware of any additional requirements at the border due to COVID?
Hi Allie! So glad you are liking them :) Yes testing is available in CR, however the border is still closed with Panama for foreigners. However, that might change in January! Check with the Tico Times or US Embassy in Costa Rica for updates and lmk any other questions!
Also would you be able to include in your next video different neighborhoods that are being build that are affordable for the Panamaian people/ people who want to retire/ people who want to work their.

Hi No. 2! :) There shouldn't be any restrictions on Panamanians traveling to the US then returning home, unless it's a state like NY with a quarantine requirement
Hi Greg, it depends on how long your layover is. The airport is 30 min or so from the city center and then you'd have to pass back through security and immigration, which could be complicated with the covid requirements
Hi Snake, I heard that the border with CR is closed. The other one with Colombia is kind of a rainforest so I've never been that way. But you should be able to travel through the country no problem!

Thanks for this video. Booked a trip there for March 2021 as the airfare was incredibly cheap. Planning to rent a car and drive around the island for 5 days. We have also been to DR and PR since the pandemic began. PR was extremely strict, DR, not so much. Looking forward to a semi-normal vacation. One question - I heard that there is still a limit on what hours you can leave the home to run essential errands, based on the last numbers of your drivers license. Is that still in effect? or is there free movement now?
You're welcome Lauren! I hope you have a great trip. Here is the info from the US embassy but I think this will change by March: From December 18 through January 4, curfew is set from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Beginning December 18, access to rivers and beaches is forbidden. From December 23 at 5:00 a.m. through January 4 at 5:00 a.m., access to/from beaches and the interior will be restricted. There will be checkpoints in strategic locations such as Chorrera, Divisa, La Villa, Chagres, Vigui. Full lockdown from December 25 at 7:00 p.m. through December 28 at 5:00 a.m. Full lockdown from January 1 at 7:00 p.m. through January 4 at 5:00 a.m. International borders remain open. One person per household allowed into supermarkets, with the exception that a minor or a person with a disability may also enter.

Hi Scrella, I think it's just in shared spaces like public transportation, retail outlets, and restaurants
Very helpful, Kristin... I’m heading to Panama in a week.
Glad it was helpful! 💛
Are you in panama now? Nice
Hi John! Not at the moment (Miami)
@@TravelingwithKristin Nice, I went to Tampa from NYC to get residency, then left.. why do you like Miami so much? Currently in Nashville, its pretty sleepy here, but about to go somewhere else... I always wanted to meet you. Hopefully some day.
Is the land border at Paso Canoas open?
Hi Paul, I have read online that it isn't, however my driver has been making trips to the border to pick things up (although not passing through). Maybe Sansa and Nature Air have some flights between CR and Panama now instead?
As of 10/13 there are quarantine rules from Friday to Sunday in Bocas del Toro and all of Chiriqui.
Interesting! Can you share a link with us?
@@TravelingwithKristin We live in Chiriqui 6mos a year. We checked with the US embassy last week to help plan our return and saw the notice in one of their alerts. Also neighbors in Puerto Armuelles report lots of cases.
Loved the video, would you be able to make a video of the cost of living in the city / the out parts of Panama like Colon etc. Thank you keep up the great work🔥🔥
Yes! I have a few other videos on the way first about the cost of living in Norway, Bali, and Costa Rica but I’ll add Panama to the list!
I would not advice go to colon, the city itself isnot very safe, but some beaches away from the city are ok. Better to go to other provinces like Cocle, Los Santos, Chiriquí, Bocas del toro, and fabulous indigenous territory of Güna Yala (aka San Blas archipelago). There’s folklore, music, food, nice beaches and cool fact is at least in the city a lot of people know English
@@escapesbycat Thank you for the update its greatly appreciated. Are you from Panama??
I am indian .I wanna to go costa rica ....with connecting flights the aeroplane has one stop a tucumen international airport can I have required transist visa if my airline change from KLM to copa
I am not sure about that, did you mean tourist visa?
Yes. Planning to go in Dec /Jan. More Panama information, please. 😊
Great news! Any questions I can help with?
Any updates on Japan or Bali?
I was just researching Japan last week but still seems pretty restrictive... very few countries allowed in. Should I make an update anyway?
I had covid I wonder if I could show them an Antibody test....?
I haven't seen anything on that specifically but you could go to that island in Brazil that only allows people who have already had Covid to come in! th-cam.com/video/cpngMvvrgNk/w-d-xo.html
Still waiting on updates Nicki! Thanks for watching!
Hi
THANKS SO MUCH..
VERY INTERESTING INFORMATION!!!
Glad it was helpful, Roger!
Always great info, thanks!
You are so welcome! Happy to help 😊
Nice and interesting video.it is my first time in your channel my name is Jose Taveras
Thanks for watching Jose! 💛
Had my 2 shots does this count for covid
Thanks Kristin. As a current resident of Panama your information is absolutely correct. After 7 months of a hard lockdown finally things are open again. Would it be possible to do a video on the US and specific requirements for certain tourism states like Miami and LA? Thank you very much for the great content as always
You’re so welcome, Mershin! Yes I will look into that! Here in Miami there don’t seem to be any specific requirements. Would you be traveling from PTY-MIA?
@@TravelingwithKristin Thank you Kristin. Yes, thats the plan.
Sounds great! I've already heard Panama is a really nice country to visit/live in/retire to.
It really is! I swear it’s half the cost of moving to Costa Rica... quite affordable
@@TravelingwithKristin So I am voting for a more in depth video about living in/moving to Panama. Thanks Kristen!
Nope not now!!! Beaches are closed which is a big part of why i love that place..caranval canceled 💀 I went last feb and it was amazing. Think ill wait until feb hopefully by then it changes

Hi Kristin! These videos are SO helpful. I am planning on flying to Costa Rica from New York in January. I was going to stay for a week and then continue down to Panama for another week after that. Do you know if I would be able to take a test while in Costa Rica and have results in time for travel to Panama? I was planning on taking a bus, are you aware of any additional requirements at the border due to COVID?
Hi Allie! So glad you are liking them :) Yes testing is available in CR, however the border is still closed with Panama for foreigners. However, that might change in January! Check with the Tico Times or US Embassy in Costa Rica for updates and lmk any other questions!
Also would you be able to include in your next video different neighborhoods that are being build that are affordable for the Panamaian people/ people who want to retire/ people who want to work their.
Hi Awill, sure where are you from? Are you interested in places in the city, beaches, or countryside?
Kristin I found you this morning and have a flight out Dec 2nd. My big concern right now is yes Covid which you have given me lots of info on but the weather. My daughter is in Costa Rica and she says it's raining non stop come later like in Jan. What if you can tell me is your opinion. Lots of rain right now? thank you Kris

Hi hon

Working on more Tommy! Stay tuned!
Are there any restrictions on citizens of Panama traveling to the United States and then retuning to Panama?
Hi No. 2! :) There shouldn't be any restrictions on Panamanians traveling to the US then returning home, unless it's a state like NY with a quarantine requirement
I have a stop on my international flight. Could i still visit the city and come back to the airport?
Hi Greg, it depends on how long your layover is. The airport is 30 min or so from the city center and then you'd have to pass back through security and immigration, which could be complicated with the covid requirements
@@TravelingwithKristin i have a layover of 8 hours.
Did you have to show a negative pcr results for the layover I don’t plan to leave the airport or anything like that

Are there topes (speed bumps) too? I saw that there are protests that lead to road blocks. Can’t do that negative Pcr test ( worry about a symptomatic long COVID). Mexico 🇲🇽 has spoiled me with their ease of travel. Serbia 🇷🇸 in 2 weeks is my next trip.

I have a trip booked to Panama City from JFK on November 15th. That 48 hour window for a PCR test is a BIG concern. Also, I really hate wearing a mask and can't even imagine wearing one outdoors.
