    Krizia, thanks for the update. You are a big reason I decided to take the plunge and go to WCU. I attend the Ontario campus and I'm half way through the program. Thank you for providing an update on how it is financially as a new grad. I worry sometimes about the loan amount but you give me hope.

      Hey! Thank you for watching! & congrats, you’re half way there!! I made sure that the loans weren’t going to stop me from reaching my goals/dreams. Just know there are many different ways to pay off loans, you can pay the lowest or pay the most. You can take on a per diem job on the side and use that to pay loans. There are many different opportunities to find a way to make it work.

    I think for legal reasons you should probably stop saying that you’re “prescribing” medications. What you do is recommended. And just because you enter a script under a doctors name. Doesn’t mean you’re prescribing it. The doctor is prescribing it. It is not within a nurses scope to prescribe. You’re you’re creating false advertising of what RN’s do. You may be giving a suggestion to the doctor.

    My suggestion is to become an LPN, if the school loans are an issue. I make over 100k a year as a LVN in California and my loans was less than 20k. You do basically what RNs do minus pushing IV meds.

    Hi krizia! I graduated from LA West Coast January 2021 too, I guess we're in the same cohort. Instead of outpatient care I went straight into bedside nursing, tele unit. Since then I have worked at two different hospitals, I have to say bedside nursing experience varies from different hospitals. One of the hospital I dread going to work, the workload is ridiculously high and you get zero management support. I quit that job as soon as I'm able to find another. My current job is at a magnet hospital, the experiences to totally opposite, my stress level drop so much I actually sometime like going to work. I'm glad to see a different perspective of nursing especially from a alumni graduate the same month and same year as myself. Hospice nursing does sound tempting to me as it fit in my lifestyle better (I work night shifts 😅). I have a few questions. Do you work 40 hours 5 days a week? How are the benefits of working outpatient? Such as health insurance and 401k? How many patients are you usually responsible for? I am seriously considering hospice, not that I don't like my bedside job, but it really disrupt my worklife balance.

    • @nurse_krizia
      @nurse_krizia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I work 8 hour shifts 5 days a week. It depends on where you work, you can do outpatient with a hospital and get the same benefits of that hospital. Or work in smaller outpatient settings and benefits may not be the same. With my company, I am offered health insurance, 401k, dental and vision. As a case manager in hospice, you are likely to have up to 15-18 patients. Depending on their needs, you may see them multiple times a week. But if you have 15 patients and see them once a week over 5 days, that is 3 patients a day.

    • @nurse_krizia
      @nurse_krizia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I went on credible to compare the different loan companies and then researched on each one of them. After my first term, the only struggle I had was finding a co-signer. My dad co-signed the first one with me, then my sister the second time, then my dad the third time. After graduating, I refinanced my loans for a lower rate under myself only and my dad and sister were removed from my previous loans.

    I am currently looking into loans to start the program in April. I’m worried applying for the loans will drop my credit score by a lot. Did applying for loans affect your credit score by a lot? Thank you so much for your videos they are so helpful! ❤️

    • @nurse_krizia
      @nurse_krizia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! My credit score did drop but I don’t remember how much. It didn’t drop it significantly/dramatically. I personally, didn’t look at my credit score during schools because I wasn’t making any large purchases. At the time, the only thing that mattered to me was whether or not I got approved. I actually found my credit score to be the best during nursing school.

    • @nurse_krizia
      @nurse_krizia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When shopping for loans, it will give you an estimate but once you decide on a loan provider and run the hard check, that’s when it affects your credit score. I don’t suggest running a hard check on credit for multiple loans at once.

      Hello, I used the link the school provided and did my research on those. I had co signers for all my loans. Once I graduated and had a job, I refinanced it under my name only. Once I did this, the co signers were released from my loans and the loans no longer appeared on their credit.

      Hey! I worked starting OB term. I suggest not working for the first couple terms so you can build a good foundation of your studying habits. Once you have it down, look for jobs. After 2 terms, I believe you can sit down and take an exam to get your certification as a CNA. Some hospitals also take 2 terms of nursing school as a requirement.

    I’m so happy to see you’re in such a great place with your career! I wanted to ask, when you first decided to work home health as a newgrad, did you feel kind of disappointed in yourself that you didn’t immediately land a hospital job? I graduated in feb and I’m kind of going through that right now. I accepted a job as an RN supervisor in a LTC and I actually love it, but I feel insecure because all of my friends have already been able to get their dream ICU position. I don’t know if being in the hospital setting is necessarily what I want to do but I feel pressured like that’s where I’m supposed to be at this point!

    • @nurse_krizia
      @nurse_krizia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I did feel disappointed not being able to land a hospital job. But I don’t think I’d enjoy nursing if I wasn’t doing hospice. I find so much more satisfaction with the amount of care I’m able to provide patients and families. I have a great support system at work, directors who are great mentors and look out for my well-being. I’m constantly asked how I’m doing and if I need help, it’s easy for me to express my concerns. If I worked in a hospital I wouldn’t get that type of support and would just feel like another employee.
