    I've only welled up at one book in my life, and that was also Karin Slaughter - Pretty Girls. And the scene I welled up at was between 2 sisters, who have a very complicated relationship. Karin Slaughter writes sisterhood and sisterly relationships in a masterful way.

    Oh they made No Exit into a movie! I didn’t know it was a book… as you were describing it, I thought, “wait this sounds familiar”.
    It’s not bad, check it out :)
    Thanks for the video! I binge on thriller reads once it hits Sept :)

      It was terrible in my opinion. They could have done something so much better with it. The actress who plays Darby was good, but they shortened the story in a way that just didn't work for me. Sad.

      @juju1981 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@beej13yeah movies generally don’t live up to the book, but since I never read the book, I only watched through the lens of a horror/thriller movie buff 😊 thought it was decent! (But also wasn’t expecting much)

      @@juju1981 yeah, i think it was ok from that pov, but if you read the book you can see how badly they adapted it. I was sad bc it's one of my favorite thrillers and i was super excited to watch the movie.

      I don't find them similar really. At least not in atmosphere. Dark Places had a gritty atmosphere. It girl takes place at a really swanky college.

    I own the books The Chestnut Man and The Good daughter. I was planning to read the Chestnut Man last year in December but did not, read The Whisper Man instead, so maybe this year I will see about reading it in December. I loved The It Girl, The Final Girls was my first Riley Sager book too. I loved The Turn of the Key and it is my favorite Ruth Ware book.

    • @GettingHyggeWithIt

      I hope you enjoy Chestnut Man! It's not got much of a cozy vibe because it's a lot of death, death and more death lol but it's still a good read!

    I like the way you reviewed the books without giving too much away but i font quite understand why you said there are no mystery elements in them. I believe they do have mystery elements in them.
    I read one book only feom both Karin slaughter and Ruth ware. I thibk it was Pretty Girls and the death of Mrs westerley. Stories are good but just didnt like them because they are too wordy. I think the authors went a bit overboard with describing the characters' emotions, thought and action processes too much. That is why Karin slaughter books are so thick. Nah for me.
    Alice feeny books are good. I read a few and i like them. Infact i am reading Daisy Darker now.
    I read the latest book from taylor adams. Cant remember the name but not sure why i didnt finish it. Maybe i didnt like the style of writing but i might pick it up again.
    Riley sager has few good books. I read all except survive the night. But doht read last night i lied. I couldnt wait to get through the book. Boring. The mystery just didnt grip me. Read his "lock every door', home before dark and the only one left. Those are the good ones. I difnt quite like final girls too.

    • @GettingHyggeWithIt
      @GettingHyggeWithIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes I see what you mean! They all have mystery elements! What I meant is they aren’t like an Agatha Christie book. You know?

    I will read the books you suggested, except Ruth Ware, she's too soft and basic. I prefer Karin Slaughter and Gillian Flynn, something dark and shocking.
