    I was at Barnes and nobles the other day and almost picked up In the Woods because the premise sounded so interesting! I love Thrillers with groups of kids experiencing sometime bad and having the flash forward to having to deal with it in adulthood. But something in me told me to put it down and I’m so glad I did after seeing how much you hate it LOL. So far your recommendations have been fantastic so I’ll trust you on that

    These thriller books did pretty well in your tier list for not being your favourite compared to the horror tier list lol. I haven't listened to many thrillers but might try pretty girls! Thanks for another great video!

    Not one Robyn Harding book on this list?!!?! If you enjoy any Jennifer Hillier book. You need to check out Robyn Harding.

    Love, love, LOVE this video! You had me laughing at how you wanna burn all of the In The Wood books by Tana French. Your " Oh, Boy " was an indication, haha. I actually steered clear of that one for many years because the negative reviews were overwhelming. I agree with you about I am Thinking of Ending Things by Ian Reid. It was good. But not fantastic and definitely not in my all time faves. I never read a Karin Slaughter book before so I'll start with The Good Daughter. You had me at " It's dark."
    I haven't read The Chain but if I do, I'll only read the first half, lol. And skip the second half. I read The Island by Adrian McKinty. The action is relentless. I liked Heather ( shockingly, I remember her name haha ). She is a strong heroine. You do have to suspend some disbelief but I very much enjoyed it. 4 stars. You may enjoy it. :)

    Hi Aspen. New subbie here. Great recommendation video. I love the fact that (most of the time) you hate the books 99% of the bigger booktubers love, and love the books that this 99% hate. It makes you unique!

    I love long videos! Bring them on! I have to read Kiss the Girls now. You have me curious. I have only read a James Patterson book when it was tagged with another author. Never one with just his name if that makes sense. I am surprise too with the number of books in your top two columns. :🤣

    If you like The Chain I'd Recommend the Island by Adrian it's really action-packed and tense but I preferred it over the chain, I also really liked the dynamics in the Island (It's following a family on holiday) and having this family go through some of the stuff in this book, the character development is really good for a thriller at-least IMO. The only thing is the Island is very tense and once it kicks off it does not stop, I really recommend the audiobook for The Island by if you decide to read it.
    Also No Exit I really loved the movie, I preferred the movie over the book, I'd recommend watching the movie over the book.

    • @aspensarchive
      @aspensarchive  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been meaning to try The Island! Also very interesting your take on No Exit. I feel like I've only ever heard that the movie is terrible, but that's said by people who loved the book, so maybe I'll have to give it a try!

    • @TheCourtsOfLove
      @TheCourtsOfLove ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aspensarchive Yeah I watched the movie after reading the book and thought it was really well done and enjoyed it more, the book for me was so dry and the main character I just didn't care for, but the movie spends like 20 minutes giving backstory to Darby (I believe was the main character in the book) I can't remember if the movie changed the name or not and it's been a while.
      But yeah I'd really recommend the movie, the acting was really good for the cast and really gave life to the characters from the book (To make them more intimidating with the villains).

    • @Bushraize
      @Bushraize ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aspensarchive the movie is way way awful 😖 the cast the acting everything bad you can imagine about a movie. To make it short (a low budget movie)

    These days I'm just reading back to back books by David Ellis till I finish his blacklist. He's truly truly so 👍. You have no idea how grateful I am to Gabby for introducing this great author to me by recommending Look Closer, it's his recent and a hit. You should try him.

    • @aspensarchive
      @aspensarchive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aspensarchive I continued watching your video today while having my keto lunch 😋 and I finished reading Invincible by David Ellis & James Patterson. These two are truly a piece of work, I cried 😢 at one scene and in The Black Book I cried too. They make you laugh, they make you cry and be on edge all wrapped up in one package. I hope you'll consider reading books by them.
      I put Kiss The Girl on my list hopefully I'll get to read it soon and they do have some disturbing seen in the books I've read so far and the same thing happened to me when I got to the twist in The Black Book the revelation was too much for me to wrap my mind around it🤯, I left the book took break and came back for it.

    so late, but pretty girls too me was a little boring to me i guessed the plot twist pretty quickly there, i did with sharp objects as well. but i liked sharp objects more, because of the topic it was about i found this to be interesting.
    liked the night swim as well, it kept me entertained while i was on a walk while i listened to it, kept me wanting to walk more haha, because i wanted to listen to what would happen next. same with local woman missing. but i think reading it myself i would share a similar opinion with you.
    also verity gave me the "ick" .
    *SPOILER*
    when it came to the autistic child....because i am autistic, while i was not triggered it gave me the ick about the way this kid was talked about. and for me personally it sounded more like it was the authors voice more than the character's opinion on it. which also can be discussed if it really was the character's opinion about the kid. but other than that i had fun with verity.

    AMEN to your feelings on In the Woods - that is also among my least favorite books I have ever read, if not the very worst. I read it a year ago and I'm still mad that I wasted so much time on sticking it out. I'm verging on going into a full rant lol that book is an actual abomination!

    My review of Local Women Missing was denied by Amazon because of how blunt I was with the author. Yeah right! 🙄 like anyone would believe that in America with the thorough autopsy they do, yet the death was ruled as a socied, like she wants the reader to believe that they couldn't find out that she was hit by a hammer on the back of her head and so many unrealistic things, Meh.
