Brilliant swamp man. Written some CLASSIC'S and wasn't given the DUES he's worth. He was underated by who knows who.

Been a huge fan since the sixties I play lead guitar and had the privilege of touring hotels in Australia with him in the 80's. I went to a gig at The Waverly Hotel in Perth. I was friends and a guest of the support band for Tony. Got to go into the house-bar after his gig (which totally blew me away) and meet him in person. Dream come true... It got way better. While we waited in the House-bar the support band and myself brought some instruments in and we were playing and singing harmonies "off the cuff" there were 15 to 20 people there waiting for him- Tony to shower and get cleaned up. All the people in the house-bar who weren't playing instruments, were all singing in different layers of the beautiful and perfect harmonies. It was like a huge choral rock concert. I remember we were all singing Joe Cocker's With a little Help From my friends in choral unison. I looked around and Tony was standing at the top of the staircase. I had no idea of how long he had been standing there listening. He surprised us all by saying "it was the most awesome thing he had ever heard... The harmonies were magic... He asked" Do you all play together? Did you all rehearse this? It is the most amazing harmonies I have ever heard... Are you sure you didn't rehearse this?".... We told him it was off the cuff and most of us were strangers and had not met until that moment. Tony was so animated and impressed. Long story short- I hatched a plan to try and get him to come back to our place? Introduced him to my beautiful sister? And asked Tony if he would come back to the house and Jam with us? (at her house) He said "I will, but on" two conditions" I had to have my two favourite instruments at your house? I answered I play a "Fender" '67 Stratocaster.: He- Tony answered" "that's the first one" And I have a Fender Twin Reverb amp- Actually we have two? That's the second!" We jammed all night 'till daybreak and unbeknown to me, My sister had recorded it all. I woke up to the sounds of Tony Joe and I jamming. I thought I was still dreaming! As it dawned on me- it was the jam and Tony Joe White and myself playing. I bolted into the lounge-room - to the sound of my sisters yelling! No! - No! you're not getting it! My sister emphatically "refused" to part with the recording of- "Tony Joe White" playing at "her house." Nostalgic beautiful memories of a "true iconic Super Star and- one of the "nicest down-to-earth people, I have ever met! Memories I will treasure for ever and ever! RIP old friend...

What was your support band ? I didn’t think he toured in the 80’s , what was your tour company ?
