You’re not the only one re: desaturated foundations. I used to be a portrait painter and skin IS desaturated. It is also made up of several tones - reds, blues, yellows, greens. I can’t speak for darker skin tones since I am uncooked chicken in tone, but I do best with desaturated tones or yellow undertones. This is probably why Korean BB creams look so good on my skin - they’re almost grey. In US foundations, I tend to get yellow undertone foundation because I have redness in my skin on account of being fucking translucent. If I get pink undertones, I just look sick. Also adding: I know you already stated it so I am just adding on to complain that Zinc based sunscreens are just so damn drying. The Colorscience Flex in Fair is the only one I’ve found that doesn’t make me look like I’m wearing Maybelline Matte Mousse from 2009, but it also just sucks all the life from my skin. I’d kill for lightly tinted chemical sunscreens that aren’t foundation. I know that seems ridiculous because after all, it’s the white cast in mineral we are counteracting! But I do love a little coverage in my sunscreen and I’d love to just slap on some sunscreen, get a little redness coverage, toss on mascara, and call it a day. Just one fewer step! Is that too lazy? 😂😂

So glad there are new developments! personally, I’m still going to stick with k-beauty/j-beauty sunscreens for the most part - they’re simply better because the approved filters are better. Wish the US would catch up as it’s limiting companies based here!! This top was actually a gift, but I do indeed have a ton of similar tops from yesstyle. I bought that L’Oréal vitamin C twice because it had good reviews, but I could never really make it work for me! The dry texture was kind of unappealing and also made it awkward to fit into my skincare routine.
Yeah the feel of it is kind of…meh? It’s all right on my décolletage, under my sunscreen. I feel like layering it into a full routine might bring out the worst of the texture situation!

I really need help finding a product for sun spots. Nothing I've tried works! I'm so pale that redness from acne and brown spots show up like a beacon on my face. Can someone recommend something, pretty please? I'm desperate 😭
Honestly those are so hard to treat. My go-to is microneedling for the toughest of spots, but I hate recommending it as that does come with a lot of precautions. Best to do in a clinic if you can, if not it’s important to keep in mind the risks (I have videos talking about it) For topicals, progress will be SLOW. L-AA, &/or AHA, etc will help but it’s anything but an overnight ordeal. This is why I’d say to find a product with those that’s within your budget, as it will likely take more than one bottle to do the job. Hope that helps, sorry to be the bearer of bad news with how tricky that issue is (been there myself! 😭)

Rosie Jane in Rosie oil perfume and I mixed Kombua vanilla bean oil smells just like the clean reserve skin scent but last all day on your skin unlike the Clean reserve, I accidentally discover that when I got a sample in my Sephora order and put my vanilla oil on over top .
Vanilla Sky smells heavenly but lasts not even 5 minutes. At that price point, I had to return because I could not smell it. It is so sad that such a wonderful scents disappears so fast 😢.
That’s such a disappointment indeed! Glad you got your money back though. No reason to stick it out with products we don’t like (just recently had this revelation with the kosas glow IV that deeply disappointed me - glad I got my $40 back!)

Try MD Solar science kids. It’s a beautiful mineral Sunscreen that is hydrating. It has silicones so if you don’t like that feeling, you won’t like, but I actually enjoy it.

Then found the Garnier Ombrelle tinted that’s exactly the same thing. But it’s only $15. Same SPF 60 and water resistant. The Halsey lip butter looks so juicy! Would you say it’s similar to the Tarte maracuja lippie?
Oh my God. The way I went all the way through my teens and early 20's without a properly matching foundation! Ivory my butt... Also, Walgreen's has a dupe for the Cera Ve vitamin C, (which is also quite similar to the L'oreal) in their store brand for $12 that looks really nice formula-wise.
I just tried the house of Joseon sunscreen that you recommended on one of your videos and I love it so much I’m going to place another order with Stylevanna immediately for another two tubes of it. It is superior to any other sunscreen I’ve used so far. I have oily skin so it’s difficult to find a sunscreen that I feel is hydrating enough without being greasy. Plus my eyes are sensitive so it can’t irritate my eyes.
YUP oh my goodness it’s just no comparison to US sunscreens!! I wish so much that our regulations weren’t outdated so US stores could stock the Korean options. Hopefully someday!

That’s something I didn’t think I could do a couple years ago - but I actually do think there are good options now! I like stick sunscreens the most for reapplication over makeup. Now admittedly it’s not a perfect system, sometimes there’s a bit of makeup smudging. But unlike mists/powders, I feel I can trust sticks much more. Isntree makes my current favorite, although I also like Round Lab’s, and surprisingly the Make Prem mineral option (a bit drying as zinc, but it works!)
Same with the French lol. I took 5 years and could read and write but never could speak it correctly 😆. I can say the alphabet still 20+ years later lol

Have you heard of a brand called ample:n? One of the products they have is a "crystallized" vit c called, VC Shot Ampoule. The form of vit c it has is Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate.
Yes! I haven’t tried too much from them, but I do like their peptide serum. Not too sure I like that it’s in that delivery method you’re describing (I think? At least it sounds similar) - it’s little beads suspended in the liquid, inside of which contains the peptide complex. It does take some effort to burst them open, although the price/oz makes me not mind it as much. Very fair price points
The live tinted SPF is on my wishlist. Skylar Capri summer has been on my wishlist for a while. I like vanilla sky. Some of their limited edition fragrances are nice, too. Fall cashmere isn’t what I was hoping it would be. It smells nice but heavy on the ginger to my nose. It does smell nicer throughout the day. Although some of their fragrances smell sour on me, like boardwalk delight.
I have Skylar Pink Canyon which is fresh and almost like an oriental floral and I have Salt Air which is exactly like the ocean. The fresh, clean smell reminds me of dolce gabbana light blue but more fresh and clean. I will be getting the ones that you tried since I love the Skylar brand.

I LOVE Fall Cashmere! I got the rollerball/full size set during the Sephora President's day sale. I got a small rollerball from Ipsy a while back so I already knew I loved it. I find it actually lasts pretty long on my skin. To me, there's something about it that reminds me just a little bit of Tom Ford's Bitter Peach. Like if the peach in TF was replaced with chai tea, you get Fall Cashmere.

The Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 60 is a solid favorite of mine and you're among the only people I've heard talk about it. Thanks for that because I feel that more people should know about it as it is truly a great option for us with light skin tones (everyone talks about rhe LaRoche-Posay but it's way toooo orange). Also, since you are in the field of scientific nutrition, I wonder if I could possibly ask you an off topic question (i.e. non skincare related)? I have a sick cat with triaditis and so I have to give him probiotics (among other things) as a supplement and the veterinary ones are so expensive. My question to you is : could I give him human probiotics? Are they «formulated» differently? I know it's not the subject of this channel and so it's fine if you don't want to go into it, I just thought I'd take a chance. 😉

That L’Oréal Vitamin C sounds like it might feel silicone-y? That’s how the BeautyStat one feels so I use it mostly on my neck/chest too. I got it in a SkinStore set over the holidays. It’s fine but I really prefer water based VitC.

Yes kind of a greasy silicone feel! I think that if I bought it to use on my face, I would be disappointed. Water based is the way to go imo!

A. I just got the Good Molecules spf in an ulta order that arrived today. I'm so pleased it's good. B. I have a bit of about-face and I like everything so far--liquid lip, liquid eyeshadows and cream blush. Liquid highlighters? And lip gloss. I was introduced to the brand and liked it before I knew it was a celebrity brand.

Have you heard of a brand called ample:n? One of the products they have is a "crystallized" vit c called, VC Shot Ampoule. The form of vit c it has is Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate.
Yes! I haven’t tried too much from them, but I do like their peptide serum. Not too sure I like that it’s in that delivery method you’re describing (I think? At least it sounds similar) - it’s little beads suspended in the liquid, inside of which contains the peptide complex. It does take some effort to burst them open, although the price/oz makes me not mind it as much. Very fair price points
The live tinted SPF is on my wishlist. Skylar Capri summer has been on my wishlist for a while. I like vanilla sky. Some of their limited edition fragrances are nice, too. Fall cashmere isn’t what I was hoping it would be. It smells nice but heavy on the ginger to my nose. It does smell nicer throughout the day. Although some of their fragrances smell sour on me, like boardwalk delight.
Fall cashmere smells nothing like other “cashmere” scents - definitely took me by surprise too!
I have Skylar Pink Canyon which is fresh and almost like an oriental floral and I have Salt Air which is exactly like the ocean. The fresh, clean smell reminds me of dolce gabbana light blue but more fresh and clean. I will be getting the ones that you tried since I love the Skylar brand.

I LOVE Fall Cashmere! I got the rollerball/full size set during the Sephora President's day sale. I got a small rollerball from Ipsy a while back so I already knew I loved it. I find it actually lasts pretty long on my skin. To me, there's something about it that reminds me just a little bit of Tom Ford's Bitter Peach. Like if the peach in TF was replaced with chai tea, you get Fall Cashmere.

I cant use mascaras for six months. Usually they start to dry out about 2 months after opening so they end up not sticking to my lashes at all!
Yeah that’s true. There are some exceptions I guess (the really wet formulas), but I tend to not like those haha!
The Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 60 is a solid favorite of mine and you're among the only people I've heard talk about it. Thanks for that because I feel that more people should know about it as it is truly a great option for us with light skin tones (everyone talks about rhe LaRoche-Posay but it's way toooo orange).
Also, since you are in the field of scientific nutrition, I wonder if I could possibly ask you an off topic question (i.e. non skincare related)? I have a sick cat with triaditis and so I have to give him probiotics (among other things) as a supplement and the veterinary ones are so expensive. My question to you is : could I give him human probiotics? Are they «formulated» differently? I know it's not the subject of this channel and so it's fine if you don't want to go into it, I just thought I'd take a chance. 😉
