If this helps you, please return here and let me know when you pass your Praxis. When the next page loads, you will have to provide your email and then they will email the resources from this video to you. I have updated links in the description.
I passed!! 🤩🤩 Honestly, the scope of all we have to study for someone without an art education is extremely broad for this exam. With all my studying this passed month, I just discovering more and more things I had never heard of, and it felt insurmountable. But I covered all I possibly could and put the rest in God’s hands! So grateful for this new opportunity!!
@@lizettekristine6360 Awesome!!! Congratulations! I am so happy for you. It's a lot to prepare for but you did it! Thanks for letting us know you made it...this brought a smile to my face today and I am sure it will encourage others. WAY TO GO! 🥳🎉
I am 51. I wanted to be an Art Teacher but I let someone talk me out of it at a young age, so I became a math teacher. I have about 12 to 15 years left in education and I'm not going to spend it teaching math. I'm going to take my art Praxis. Thank you for your video
That is awesome!!! I am excited for you! I had a coworker switch from kindergarten to art this year and she is loving it so far. I am glad that you decided to follow your passion!
I am so excited for you. I was also talked out of it. i just turned 44, subbed for 8 years in elementary and special ed, then threw in the towel after not getting interviews and have worked for a few years. I finally decided that this is how I want to end my working years! I hope that you pass the first time, i take mine in a month and I need to get back to studying.
I’m a certified elementary education teacher, reading specialist certified and have my admin certification too. My principal switched this year and I’m not a fan of being micromanaged and constantly harassed, so I’m planning to take my art praxis next Friday. Good Lord willing, I’ll pass and move schools! I’ll update after the test. Thank you for the helpful info! 😊
Awesome! Glad to hear we have another art teacher in the making! It's fun teaching art if you are passionate about it and it IS a bit different from being in the gen ed classroom but it isn't Easy Street. There are still most of the same headaches that any other teacher experiences, but with even less support (no grade level team or priority for your content area). You may find teaching art makes you happier in some ways and even more frustrated in others. If you haven't already, talk to several experienced art teachers about the downsides so you won't end up disappointed by the unglamorous reality of being an art teacher. 🤣 😭🥰 Good luck on your test and please keep us posted! I hope that you find a position that is a good fit for you. Take care.
Thanks! I’ll keep you updated. I taught it before when I first graduated from Undergrad. I wasn’t certified, but was a full time sub. I loved creating my own lessons, and have an artistic side. So, fingers crossed, I pass this test and begin a new adventure. ❤
Wow, this video is great! You're very well articulated, and you covered so many points. For a first video this a banger, I sincerly hope you keep it up. I'm currently starting my studies for this exam, and I feel like you've given a real strong jumping-off point.
Thanks. You have brought a smile to my face this morning! I am glad that you found this helpful. I remember being super nervous about this test so I knew that when I started this channel (for art teachers and homeschooling parents) it would be one the first videos that I would make. Best of luck on your exam. Please, feel free to come back by and let me know how it went. 👍
Thank you! I was floundering on how to study. I have been out of school since 2006 and need this to get into a career switcher program. After taking a few small practice test I was a bit worried due to the art history. You have given me some structure. I will check back in once I pass. Thanks again!
That's great! I am glad that this helped to get you going in the right direction. I went back to school in my 30's to make a career change so I can relate. Once I knocked the "rust" off, it wasn't so bad...LOL. Please, do check in. I would love to hear how you are doing. Take care. :)
This is so helpful. Thank you so much for this thoughtful and practical approach. I passed it on the 1st try, but that was back in 2001, or maybe 2002. However, I moved to a new state, and find myself needing to pass again 20 years later. Thanks again!
Thank you for the kind words. Since this is not your first rodeo, I am sure that you will do well. I hope that you are enjoying your new home! Best wishes!
Thank you for creating and sharing this video on how to prepare for the art exam. Although I'm from OKC, your upload links has help direct me on what I need to prepare for. So thank you.
@@lucindajones4795 Hi. Sorry I missed this. My best advice would be to take art history college course and then take the Praxis afterwards. If you really take the art history courses seriously and try to truly learn it, you will pick up enough info get you through the test. If you do not have a couple of semesters to wait for that, I would go over the resources I listed in the video over and over (the Otis College playlist and the Annotated Mona Lisa) until I knew it by heart. I don't know of any better way than those and I do not offer tutoring. How have you learned the best in the past? Are you a visual learner, do you have to hear it, do you have to do it/need movement? Whichever is your learning style, see if you can integrate it into your study sessions. Also, when I googled "Art Content Knowledge Praxis tutors" there were several results that popped up....unfortunately, I have no experience with any of them so I can not make recommendations either way about their effectiveness or legitimacy. Maybe you just needed more time to study than what you had? I genuinely hope that your next test goes smoother.
WOW!! Congratulations on passing under such strenuous circumstances and with such little time! What amazing advice!! I with I had found this video earlier. I’m taking the FTCE Art K12 which is the exam for Florida, but I have heard it’s one of the toughest in the nation. But I believe the content of the test is basically the same as the PRAXIS, except ours also includes an art education and pedagogy competency. The problem is I have not found a study guide for it anywhere except Mometrix. I bought that but I am really disappointed. I have spent the past few weeks on “TH-cam University” familiarizing myself with everything on the test blueprint but I still don’t feel very confident. I appreciate you so much!!
