  • Behold my greatest piece of replicated work, the Sao Feng Map from Pirates of Caribbean - At World's End. A prop that took five and a half months to complete, an enormous quantity of resources and materials, blood, sweat and tears (almost literally!) ENJOY!

    Phenomenal work there. I imagine you also gained a large amount of knowledge on many construction / artistic techniques during your experience. Hope these props bring you much joy, it is well deserved.

    Hi!
    Funnily enough, that's where mine is right now, hanging on the wall. Originally I hammered some nails into the bottom so it leaned back against the wall instead of forward, then the cables holding it snapped so now I use bicycle brake wires! IT'S HEAVY! My rings need to be at quite an angle to fall out and the Vaseline does help keep them in, so yes, I think you'd be alright as long as it's vertical. Imperfect circles like mine cause jamming so they'd stay in, perfect circles may fall out.

    Hello i'm making the map myself now and I want to say that this is one of the best pieces of replicated art I've ever seen. Do you have any tips for my while I'm making this map?

    Hello!
    Amazing job!
    Let me ask you. Was the art hand made or did you use the computer? Any chance you could provide the file? Sorry for the writing mistakes...

      It was all made and hand-drawn. There is a image of it on my Deviant Art page with the same name that you can download I think. Haven't checked in a while!

    I'm looking to make a replica Sao Feng map as well. I don't need it to roll up, but I want it to have the rotating inner circles. However, I also want it to function as a wall-hanging piece. Are the wooden circles in yours tight enough to remain intact if you hang it upright on a wall? If not, do you have any suggestions as to how I might achieve that same effect without having to worry about the pieces falling out?

    How big is the map in width and hight. How big are each of the circles ?
    You use to color it sharpie? watercolors and colored pencils?
    So you dipped your paint brush into lighter fluid and then into watercolor paint for all of it? After you colored with color pencils ?

    • @Equilibrious
      @Equilibrious  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      laurasstarr Hi, the board is 3 feet wide by 2 feet tall, the circles are: from largest to smallest; 53.5cm, 50cm, 46cm, 38cm, 27.5cm, 19cm, 15cm, and the central disc is 11cm,
      I drew it out with pencil, colour it in with water colour crayons, then smudged the colour together with a cotton bud dipped in lighter fluid.

    This is absolutely amazing, very good job. Did you paint directly onto the wood or use a watercolour ground?

    • @Equilibrious
      @Equilibrious  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robalot39 Water colour ground! The wood is MDF, absorbs anything, impossible to paint on

    • @Robalot39
      @Robalot39 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +T.H.CooneyArt Thank you so much, you have no idea how helpful that is. I am making my own kind of rotary map out of wood and have been wondering how on earth to paint the detail on it. If I could email you the design I would as you have such a wealth of experience, especially compared to me!

  • @supercal1969

    This is wrong. The ship breaks in two once sank. The fact that the stern raises pointing the sky till the last moment is because the bow was still pulling the stern down. If the ship had really broken the way this film shows, the rear would have remained floating much long time to be salvation for all the passengers.

    • @Equilibrious
      @Equilibrious  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry dude, I disagree, the sealed bulkheads are what caused the stern to remain afloat. Once it had reached 25 degrees, the water no longer spilled over the bulkheads, creating a natural seal and allowing the stern to remain afloat and be raised up by the sinking bow. It's apparently widely agreed that it broke at about 30 degrees because of the strain of 30,000 tons, the damage tore the stern apart allowing huge amounts of water in, the stern would've sank one way or another. Plus, the stern even had some sealed rooms inside where water did not reach, and yet it was still pulled under by the heavy turbine engine room, then imploded a few hundred feet down.
      Anyway, I wasn't going for accuracy, I was going for excitement.
