Because he is professional. All images are based up on the basic shapes of circle, triangle and rectangle. Knowing the relationship between these shapes in compassion to one another is the basic building blocks on professional design.

Thor Ragnarok is by far one of their best, the colours are so vibrant and the placement is genius. It’s amazing especially when comparing it to the other Thor posters which weren’t as exciting.

There's also the 3rd poster with Spidey crouching in the foreground, Vulture in flight mode behind him as if he's swooping up behind Spidey and then a tiny Iron Man of to the side. Personally that's my favourite Homecoming poster as there's a lot of kinetic energy going on with the Vulture as if we're right in the middle of the action scene. Iron Man however just seems included for no other reason than marketing and isn't part of the action. Without him that poster would've looked much better.

Instead, the MCU has been mainly taken over by writers Markus and Mcfeely (wrote all 3 cap movies and Infinity War and EndGame) and Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and EndGame have been directed by the Russos, who started their MCU career with Cap as well. Those 4 hold Cap very close to their heart, which is why he is the main character in EndGame. RDJ is only 2nd simply because of box office numbers and overall stardom since Chaplin days.

I just finished watching 45 minutes of movie poster analysis by James Verdesoto. It was educational. But the only poster that I saw that I will remember forever was the one for Anatomy of a Murder. That poster said so little, and yet said so much (perhaps the picturesque movie title made the poster possible.) That poster is still challenging my mind. By comparison most of the other posters were crowded, repetitive, formulaic, uninspired and eyelid-closing. And I don't think the movie Anatomy of a Murder could be as good as its poster, but I still want to see it now, because of the poster.

What I'm getting is that Marvel went less and less traditional as time went on, looking less and less at how it'd been done by others before. They're setting their own trends now, with Black Panther's geometrics, Wasp's diagonal design and the 1000 characters of Infinity War etc, and rightly so. What they're doing works.
To all the people complaining about him not going into depth and instead only explaining the obvious: I don’t think he lacks the ability to do that, I think frankly the posters lack the depth to do that. He works with what is there and gives a visual analysis. There’s just not that much there. If you look at him in other videos you’ll notice he explains much more and draws comparisons to art styles of other eras, factors in budget decisions etc.
I LOVE Spiderman Homecoming and I've never seen that poster before - seeing it now, I'm glad I'd avoided it previously. I much prefer the one where he's lying on an angle with the blazer over the spider suit, and the NYC skyline in the BG. It makes way more sense with the film.
honestly, i don't like any of the marvel posters. they're (almost) all just basically heads in the sky in different configurations. the captain marvel poster was a nice surprise and gave me hope for future posters but then it all went back to how it was. the endgame poster is just the same old heads in the sky i despise.
If only this guy were my Graphic Design teacher, he made it fun to sit through this video. He gets it, he knows that in posters, you can tell a story without giving away too much of the actual story in the film. He sees that there is a structure to them as well.

I think they wanted to tell the whole story in the Homecoming Poster. A poster shouldn't tell the whole story it should give you a taste.

They probably filmed this before the new theatrical poster came out.
I think that the best thing to do for Avengers: Endgame would be some sort of recreation of the first Avengers movie poster. Infinity War has too much going on in the poster, and Endgame features a lot of the same characters as the first Avengers.

It annoys me how Ned isn't on the Homecoming poster and Jacob isn't even mentioned although he has a bigger role than Zendaya. I get that she would attract people to watch due to her fame but Ned is too underrated imo

I came here because I thought he's gonna interpret the movie through the movie posters too, but I get this take and its fine and not wrong.. I dont get why people are hating on this. He is discussing technicalities, the design. That's normal, its also part of what a graphic designer does.
