Never see this game for more than 30 years. And its the first time for me to see the finish moment. Never can go through that labyrinth building, and never see another player pass that stage. Actually its so close.... Thank you for sharing. Now i can slepp well as i know what happen after that crazy building lol.
I spent all my money for this game. Here in Germany it was more expensive. The game for 1 DM, wich was aproximately 70 cent. And one game doesn't last long in the beginning. It took as many tries to manage the 3rd round. And the 5th stage, we thought to be impossible, before we were told, that you have to go forward before the first descend. In those times, the money I get from my father (he will become 89 years old in November and s still fit) for the month, (I think 60 DM when I was seventeen) very often was spent after three days for gaming.

I had scramble on the Vectrex in 1982. I did not know the arcade! I Just discover now 44 years after that the Vectrex version was really respectfull. Incredible for the Vectrex how the game is the same despite the vector graphics and the color overlay. Wow.
@@wolfgangs.8243Why would it be impossible? I remember ,I made around 650 000 points. In order to keep ship running, just need to maintain fuel level enough to travel from one level to another. Even today I still cannot get through that damn annoying maze after the end!!!! You really make it look so easy. So addictive to play though, even though I cannot complete it. Lol
The KONAMI building!! I just started playing this game for the first time on the Switch, but I'm a huge fan of the old school stuff and this game was clearly the one that started the trend towards horizontal shooters , as opposed to vertical ones. I mostly prefer the vertical shooting games , but that doesn't mean I don't also dig the horizontal , and this one, being so primitive, just makes it better! It's like the Space Invaders of side scrolling space shooters! CLASSIC!!
I was really addicted to this game .was passing second level without firing. it was in a stylish box that ,writing orion on the both sides of the machine in a game center . 1. Scramble 2. Gyruss 3. Space pilot.
Scramble was in the conv store in my neighborhood. Have been looking for it on psii since 2000. I just found Zaxxon last week and I want Scramble. Yes, I've got most of the old Arcade games. Scramble is awesome! Who can tell me where I can get a copy for psii?
What controller are you using on the MAME? I remember this game being "very" important to have a good joystick - especially on the tunnels. I remember getting several hundred thousand on the arcade version, but never any kill screen - is there one?
Oh wow! My friend F and me spent too much of our Holiday Money on this game. We where 17 or 18, spending our summer hols in Cassis, south France. 1983 i think. We became addicted to the game for a few days (thus only eating bread and youghurt from the Supermarket). When we lay on the beach in the evening, falling asleep he would suddenly ask me: where are you? and i wuld say: just coming up to the first wall.....
Unlike the guy who made the other video I just watched, you seem to know the mechanics of the game. How to pop the bombs over the hills, and how to get low and strafe everything withe the bullets. The game counts your progress with those little flags down in the right hand corner. After you make it through a few times you'll start to notice how fast your fuel runs out. I once made it to 8. The fuel goes insanely fast, to the point where that's your entire mission. You need to keep from running out of fuel. Gotta hit every fuel tank if possible. When you run out of fuel the space ship dead-sticks down to death. If you're really good, you will have dropped a bomb just before the dead stick. That bomb miraculously hits a fuel tank and you've got a quick reprieve. But you better pull up real quick or you're still dead.
i played this when i was a kid....my dad had this on his PS and i flipped it 13 times before quitting..this shit was easy...same pattern.. =D fun though =D
the main problem that it didn't get much harder as it went on. I was ok at the game getting around 250,000 but for a serious player they could go on for a very long time. I think I completed about 10-11 full sheets
Was it released in the uk for PlayStation ? I have a Japanese disc that has this game on it, but not seen a uk pal version. The disc i have has a few other classic arcade games on it too.

True, scored around 850,000, which is about 24000 per level. The game was predictable ,other than the fireballs which could pin you to rocks, making it easier to play as you could remember the levels, although a dodgy joystick caused problems in the maze. Also racked up 1.7 million on Atari Gravitar, completed Atari I Robot, and completed The Jackal, Super Mario also...
Try to download and install "Romstation" to your computer. Then, use romstation to download the rom and play it with "mame". It's a bit difficult to complete installation of all these correctly but when it's done, you can play every arcade games you want !!!

One of the greatest arcade gamea of all time!!
Scramble was an amazing game. I used to play this game like crazy in the early 80s

Same, I kept bashing into the walls on those really narrow bits. It's great to finally see the ending !
I don't want to think of how many quarters I pumped into this game when I was a kid.

Just how good did this game sound!!! Fat analog synths non stop..... perfection!!!
I ran into this game at the Lutzen Resort in Lutzen, MN in 2008. Could not believe it when I saw it. The Lutzen Resort burned down 1-2 months ago.
Cool das mal wieder zu sehen.Erinnert mich auch wieder an Moon Patrol, und Gyros.👍

Scramble and Phoenix, those two games was my favorite. I could play for hours with one coin.
Scramble was impossible to play for hours with one coin. You had to hit every fuel tank in the higher rounds to not lose a live.

Where this all began. How this game inspired the creation of the Gradius series.
This game as a big deal back in the day. Everybody wanted to play it.
Listeing to the soundtrack takes me back. Can you smell the old cigarettes on the cabinet? I've got in my my nose right now.

The first game I played on the C64. Great memories.
This game was incredibly difficult.
General Zod No, Super Cobra was extremely difficult! That was like this game only it was a helicopter.
Probably took more of my money then any other game back then, I loved this game!
Those were the days...
Yes cool playing, this was my favorite game back in the 80. i allways hated the tunnels, but you are good :)

Ship is a gas guzzler in SPACE! no resistance.
this used to be my fav, never got past the last buildings with the high and low part. sad to see it only repeated after there.
I made it through this game 8 times on 1 quarter.
Took a lot of quarters to get good at this one
The only arcade game I ever "looped" on a single 10p coin :)
The only game I ever excelled at, always looked at those guys killing it on Defender wishing I could do that, had to just stick to Scramble.

Same with me. And here in Germany, the games were more expensive than in the U.S.

Glory days.
Did it repeat, or was it difficult with each passing?
It became more difficult with each lap, because the ship consumes more fuel.
Great Game.
Here in Brazil we had the Taito copie none COMMANDER. The same game only substitute de ship for one lokks like 1978 Battlestar Galactica Viper.
