  • Hello!
This is our 2 day 1 night trek up Mount Fuji via the Yoshida Trail, the most popular of the 4 trails. We stayed a night at the highest hut on Mount Fuji, Goraikoukan at 3,450 msl before attempting the summit climb to view the sunrise. Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest peak at 3,776 metres above sea level. A pilgrimage site for centuries, it’s considered one of Japan’s 3 sacred mountains.

You guys did great. Looks easy but not. Did you use an a tour guide or you book the hut yourself?

Hi we booked the hut ourself, a guide is not required for mt fuji so we just went on our own 😊

Thanks for sharing! About to do this climb in 2 weeks' time - unfortunately we were too late and couldn't book the higher huts, so will be staying at 7th Station Tomoekan (shown in your video) which probably means we will be waking up even earlier than you (12 midnight to 1AM) to start our summit ascend! Your video was very helpful -- thanks for sharing!
Question: any good tips on where to take the best photos at the summit? Thanks again!

All the best for your climb! It’s pretty crowded at the top, so I would recommend going earlier to find a good spot or walking in a bit further up the slope where there are less people.

Where do you book your accommodation from ?

Hi, the easiest hut to book on this trail is Taishikan, since they have a 3rd party site in Eng: www.fujimountainguides.com/mountain-hut-reservations.html
However, we couldn’t get the dates we wanted from Taishikan so we had to check the individual hut websites to book directly. We eventually booked ours directly from Goraikoukan website: www.goraikoukan.jp/

What an experience! How long in advance did you book the hut?

We booked our huts the sec the online booking opens! This differs from hut to hut but it’s usually in the Apr-May period. This climbing season is particularly popular, so we only managed to get a hut on our 4th try, they typically get fully booked within the first few minutes 😬.

Thank you! We took the first bus from Shinjuku and reached the 5th station at 9.20am. But we only started hiking at around 11.30am so as to take time to acclimatise.
