    In my student days there were never even half this many people in Piazza Navona. In the first part of the morning and also after 8 in the evening there might be less than 30 people in the entire piazza. Yes, hard to believe. A completely different experience from the one shown in your video. Mid-day, because our studios were close by we sometimes walked over to Tre Scalini to buy a Snickers bar. The perfect pepper-upper for American kids.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I made this video pre-Covid so now it's a different story. But yes, October has always been a much busier time to be in Rome than most people realized. Love that you went to Tre Scalini to buy a Snickers Bar and not a tartfuo!!! :D

    • @rr7firefly

      @@Romewise Yes, as students with limited budgets we usually went for the lower priced item that was also a reminder of our younger days (so American!). October usually is beautiful in Rome. I believe it would also be beautiful in the cities south of Rome such as Positano and Sorrento. As for cities further north such as Garda and Venice, I'm not sure about the weather. it might be a bit cooler than Rome. October in general is not a very rainy month, although of course nobody can predict the weather! Have a great trip!

Yea I honestly figured it might be less crowded but clearly not lol. Still better than the summer I would think. Great video! Just subscribed to your channel. What is the best way to make a reservation for a restaurant in Rome when you are traveling from outside Italy? How far in advance should you (they accept) book? TY!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for subscribing! To reserve a restaurant in Italy, you can try first online. Many restaurants now have an online booking system, or at least a Facebook page where you can book or send a message.
      If you want to book someplace that doesn't have that option, ask your hotel to book for you. If you won't be staying at a hotel where someone can help you, you can try e-mailing but your best bet will be to call. And in MOST cases, you can call even 1-2 days prior.
      So unless you want to eat at Rome's 3*** Michelin restaurant, La Pergola, or another restaurant that is on every food blogger's list and therefore hard to get into, you can wait until you are here to book.

      If you are coming in October, yes, you should be able to avoid crowds by visiting places before 8AM. In summer, we have seen crowds at the Trevi fountain even at 3AM, but this is not likely to be the case in October.
