I always have such a hard time picking a #1 book for the year. I think if I had to choose this year, it would be As Long As the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh. I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't read it yet.
Some of my 2024 favs: A tree grows in Brooklyn, The girl who painted, Fried green tomatoes, The nightingale, Chocolat (tetralogy), The guernsey literary soc…, 84 Charing Cross Road, And every morning the way home gets longer and longer
Happy New year! I have a lot of these on my TBR. I feel like I’m going to have a hard time picking out a top 10. One of my favorites for sure is “The Covenant of Water” by Abraham Verghese.
Hey Lindsey, I loved When the World Fell Silent. One thing though it was WWI. And you’re right, the writing was brilliant! It is my #1 read for 2024! I too had never heard of this. One thing I loved about it was the connection between Boston and Halifax with the Christmas tree. I googled Boston Christmas and found a pic of this years tree and it moved me😊❤
First time viewing your channel and absolutely LOVE all the books you've shared with us! I haven't read any of them myself but am certainly walking away with some good ideas (and can't wait till the next time I visit the bookstore). 🤗
You know when you discover a new author who is so good that you have to read all their books, one after the other. That happened both this year, as well as last year. This year I discovered Benedict Jacka, and I read all 12 books of his Alex Verus series. Then I read the 2 books of his new series. I LOVE all his books! Last year I discovered Tricia Levenseller, & read all her books. Also read her new books that came out this year. I LOVE all her books! She has several short series, and one stand-alone book. Other favorite book this year was The Life Impossible by Matt Haig. BTW- I loved Remarkably Bright Creatures, which I read in 2023.
Hi Lindsey Happy New Year I loved The Women - I could not put this one down. I would have to say that this is my favorite book of 2024. A lot of good books that you talk about. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🙏🔰☕️📚📖❤️
I have one book I’m carrying over into the new year also. It’s impossible for me to pick favorites too, but a few of the ones in contention for that would be Never Let Me Go, New York, Bright Young Women, The Goldfinch and non fiction An Illuminated Life, Edith Wharton by Hermione Lee, The Five, City of Falling Angels and Travels with Charley. I could list more but I’ll stop here😊. Happy new year, Lindsey🥳🎉❤️
Once again you have added some books to my tbr.😂 Top books for me are The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros, The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah for Fiction and Shakespeare, The Man Who Pays the Rent by Judi Dench for Non Fiction. Highly recommend audio for the Dench book. She is actually really funny. Happy New Year!📚
I read 73 books this year. It was hard to pick my top 10 reads, some of which I got from your recommendations- thank you! My top 10, in no order, mostly historical fiction because that is my favorite genre: All the broken places The berry pickers The frozen river The women Coal River Only the beautiful The briar club The happiest man on earth The things we cannot say The sweetness of forgetting Happy reading 📚 😊!
My favorite book is The Underground Librarian by Jennifer Ryan. I loved how a female librarian would takes book from library. And pass it to the people in the underground while London being bombed. It's a historical fiction. Not only that it has a good community. Have you read a book that has a good community. That makes you want to be a part of. Also i don't know if you done books with a good community on Booklist Thursday.
Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres, too. I suggest a book that was my favorite in 2023, set in the Civil War era. The women in this book are strong and will do everything to save their husbands. The book is called The Tread Collectors by Shaunna J. Edwards and Alyson Richman. The main characters are two minorities in the US, and their history is intertwined in many ways throughout US history.
I've only read two on your list: The Women and The Frozen River. I loved the Women, and yes, Kristin Hannah does the emotions strong and real. I'm still working on my list of favorites and hope to have my video out this weekend.
Remarkably Bright Creatures is marvelous. Jodi Picoult is my all time favorite. Everyone of her books is 6 out of 5 stars LOL Kristin Hannah is another fave of mine.
When the World Fell Apart is another 1917. A lot of aid workers from Boston went to help and Nova Scotia gifts Boston a Christmas Tree every year in thanks. I'm putting that book on my TBR
I get most of my Historical Fiction recs from you. I read Diamond Eye recently and loved it. If you haven’t read Uncle Tom’s Cabin, I highly recommend it.
Not bad ive read 5 of the 10 books and they are all my favorites too. Just put the lobotomist wife on my Kindle. I need to get into Abby Jimenez this year and my goal is to Read Fourth wing
Thank you for your top 10! Can you recommend which of these would stimulate the best book club discussion? I read Frozen River and The Woman … both great. Other favourites of mine this year are The Covenant of Water by Verghese and The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline.
