    Too bad EK doesn't ship to direct customers first before distributors... I ordered one of these in February and was given an Estimated delivery date of March 21st. On the 20th I received an e-mail from them stating they were out of stock (even after receiving e-mails from them saying they were in stock and shipping) and they aren't expected to be back in stock until April 26th with an estimated May 3rd delivery date. But hey, what do they care, they already have my money.

    To help mitigate potential stability/degreadation widely reported on flagship Raptor lake SKUs, I have changed a lot of my BIOS settings based on what I have watched and read. For my 13900k and 14900k I have done the following: MCE off, PL1 and PL2 limit to 225, limit P-core boost to 5.5 GHz and E-core boost to 4.3GHz, and use balanced power profile in Windows (although I do disable core parking to keep system highly responsive). Oh and just XMP on the RAM. I didn’t change LLC value. I have set voltage offset at a modest -0.015v and set the Core limit to 300 Amps. I have disabled the C6&C7 C states and EIST. Lastly I have locked AVX at 0 offset. I have tested on P95, CB R23 and CB R15. All great and in a mid 20 degree room, no workload exceeds 80c on package or cores. Very happy and benchmarks are very close to where they were before taming these beasts.

    Another great video, but I think I'd have a different conclusion: While the results for direct die cooling are great, all this shows is Intel's IHS and/or their and by extension the motherboard makers' BIOS settings are extremely messed up. Intel shouldn't be providing CPUs like this and BIOS settings shouldn't be pushing so much voltage to make the CPU temps so high. While there a myriad of factors, the plain and simple of it is these Intel CPUs run too hot. The average consumer shouldn't have to go to such great lengths (or void warranty) for cooling.

    KitGuru needs to watch JayzTwoCents video named "Motherboard Default settings could be COOKING your CPU!", to deselect that 4095W BIOS setting as shown at 8:22. There has to be a 253w or 288w setting for the Water Cooler. That 4095w setting is driving your CPU to 100C.
    I had to disable MultiCore Enhancement on my ASUS MB to disable the 4095w setting. It was driving my 12700K to 100C/throttling on the CB23 Multi-Core test. Gaming and 3Dmark benchmarks were exactly as expected for a 12700K/4090, but was not able to complete the 4095w MultiCore Enhancement BIOS setting in BIOS without 100C/throttling. Once deselected in BIOS as Jayz shows in his video, Gaming and 3Dmark results are the same but now I can complete the CB23 Multicore test with a 23400 result and a max temp of 86C.

    • @KitGuruTech
      @KitGuruTech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With the beta BIOS it does the opposite of what you are suggesting. It undervolts the CPU too much that it becomes unstable.
      If you use an older BIOS with the MSI Z790 ACE Max it pushes way too much VCORE voltage to the CPU and cooks it as you suggest.
      That's why I would always manually tune voltages until I find stability, but not everyone would and end up with either high temperature and throttling or instability.

    100c 400w 1.36v core vid (probably 1.25 real vCore after droop i HOPE) lol gg degrading so hard so sad to watch cpus get sent like that
    i would love to buy this direct die AIO, i've only ever done delid 4790k with an ihs still, never bothered with direct die due to potential of breaking the die on a custom loop and shit, but it looks like the aio's contact frame covers all the smds (I wonder if its better than grizzly or thermalright contact frame, or if the two might be interchangeable)... the ONLY downside is that they follow the same design as the CR360 Lux instead of the Dark, meaning its got this stupid big shroud on the hose side, that is blocked by my case, unless I take a plier to it and gnaw it off like I did the cr360 lux.

    14900KS is very fast, but uses tons of watts and needs expensive liquid cooling.
    Ryzen 7950x offers similar performance, with easier cooling and much lower power consumption.

      There are use cases for it. I am currently running direct die on my 13700K with a MORA 1080 and ordered this AIO because now that I have an air cooled GPU it will cool similarly to the custom loop, but mainly because it will take up a LOT less space.

  • @cieuxlux9617

    These chips are just.. not worth it, in so many different ways. My 13700k is a bottom of the barrel bin and does 5.5 GHz @ 1.37 load. The silicon in this video is doing 5.8 @ 1.36. 300 MHz is certainly significant, but only for overclockers.
