Turning Basketball Courts Into Works of Art

- When basketball courts end up with cracks, dips and divots, Dan Peterson and company step in. With the help of artists and community volunteers, Project Backboard resurfaces public courts and turns them into fly, large-scale pieces of art. The organization has brought new life and sleek aesthetics to over two dozen basketball courts around the world-including in Dan’s hometown of New Rochelle, New York. Working with local volunteers, Project Backboard brought artist Scott Albrecht's multi-colored vision to life. To see more of Scott's work, check out: www.scottalbrecht.com.

*Meanwhile my school's court looks like it's post-war*
_Bob McCoy same
Same here...
mine looks like it's post-apocalyptic
My looks like a court after a nuclear apocalypse
SMH...
I absolutely wanna see them paint an entire skate park, it would be awesome!!
Yaaaassss!!!! Yaaaaasss!!! That would be awesome!
Oh my God please come to Colorado holy crap. But for real, major respect for this man, this project is amazing. Much love
OLL! Ikr I think it is because of our soil or something, there are cracks just about everywhere, from Denver to my schools court, it is kind of annoying
He is my cousin and I live in CO too
My two favorite things together as one, Basketball 🏀 and Art 🎨
basketball is art
This guy deserves a medal
Huh no he don't
Why not
He deserves a 🏀
We have a 🏀 at home
⚾️
They look beautiful but as someone with a visual processing disorder I can't see the sections and lines intended for games like basketball and netball, hopefully in person it doesn't impact people too much, sports ahead community areas are already less accessible for people with sensory disabilities. I'm so glad to see people maintaining the communal spaces though, they've truly brought new life to the courts.
Yes it is great what he's doing but the problem is the people who play on the courts don't take care of them. In a few years those courts will look like shit again, with bent rims from wanta-be's trying to dunk the ball, missing nets cause no one can spend five dollars to replace them . Sorry it's the truth.
@@rpicard6741 its true, in our clubhouse they built a simple basketball court but in one year the courts it looks like shit again bec. sqautters like to play basketball almost everyday but they don't take care of the courts.
Awesome work! we need more art on our courts here on the Gold Coast!
That is great that they are turning the basketball courts into art.
Anyone else more interested in the background music. Great way to use Bach's cello suites
So now if you miss your shot
Just say the court was confusing and you didn't know where you were
These look so amazing
Xenox Gaming nah fam genii Lucio
Anyone else remembers when Haruhi Suzumiya drew strange messages on the ground using chalk?
Weird comment but okay
But she mostly draw weird ufoish letters and not art like this, didn't she?

What are the names of the songs in this video?
Cool I love basketball cool court patterns
i mclove it
I don't see CJ McCollum in the video?
I love the music. Anyone know what songs they are?
Vladimir Putin first one seems inspired by BWV 1048, the second one is from bach's first cello suite (i think), the last one it's almost certainly bach but i can't remember what it is, maybe it's from an orchestral suite (BWV 1066-1069)
RealHogweed Thanks man
Damn. How did they get the money to do this? Kudos to them!
That episode of recess
We sleeping on cjs editing tho
I could watch a 30 min episode on this.
Basketball courts are already works of art...
Said no one ever.
@Advait Pai You're damn right
Do you do tennis courts???
OrEo Cookie tennis courts aren't really apart of black, African American culture. Basketball courts are a sign of "stop the violence" kinda thing. Where people can be people and kids can be kids. Basketball courts are a staple in American (although not really white ) culture. Tennis... Ehhhhh not as much
Thats true
Where is CJ Mccollum??
Who in the world could play on that? Keep the art somewhere it doesn't interfere with the game.
This is random but I ran out of milk in my bottle cri
What does C.J McCollum have to do with this?
I think he edited it or helped edit it.

are they hired by the city? no. and unless you live in the city of new rochelle none of your tax dollars would go to this volunteer project.

I'm late.
Whos here before 1 dislike?
Nothing new. This was done in the seventies and again in the late 80s
Doesn't make it less rad!
It was? Where?
It would be a lot more useful if he just painted regular colors. These colors are extremely distracting.
Cool flex but ok
Must be annoying to play on with those confusing colors
It looks like they still keep the lines pretty clear though.
