  • I spent a couple days shooting at the top outdoor basketball courts in Vancouver to see which one was the best! I rated each court like a dunk contest out of 50! Check out the breakdown below and find all of these hoops on the CourtsoftheWorld map here: www.courtsoftheworld.com/cour...
    0:00 - Concord Community Park 34
    1:28 - Granville Island Court 35
    2:54 - Kitsilano Beach Courts 43
    4:37 - Trimble Park Court 33
    5:47 - Mount Pleasant Park 38
    7:18 - Coopers Park Court 33
    8:38 - David Lam Park Court 41
    9:45 - Queen Elizabeth Park 34
    10:51 - KingCrest Park Court 38
    12:18 - Cedar Cottage Park 34
    14:19 - Steve Nash Family Court 42

This could totally be a series! Best beach volleyball courts, best tennis courts, best skateparks, best soccer fields, best par 3 courses, etc! :)

Great coverage of sporting infrastructure that is free to use. Exercise during COVID lockdown is vital for keeping the spirit alive, whether it be shooting the hoops or simply doing a neighbourhood stroll to the local park. During our winter down here in Melbourne, I had a regular set of circuits to do, including a great Sunday one to the local multi-purpose park for doggy socialisation. While the dogs went nuts in a dog lead free area, all their human friends got together to catch up with the local gossip. Great to see you collaborate with Mike on this one.

Back in 1979 or 1980 I saw Wilt Chamberlain playing at Kits. It was the best back then as it is now.

@@JoelSchat It was pretty wild. A couple friends and I had gone to Kits to see if we could play with the "big boys" but there was no way we were good enough to play so we were just watching when this little car (a Honda Civic hatchback if I remember correctly) pulled up and we watched this incredibly tall guy haul himself out of the passenger seat and it was Wilt the Stilt. We couldn't believe our eyes. He played for a while and then got back in the car and took off.

Surprised you didn't in depth feature the courts at Empire Fields, those are always my go to in case the Nash Family Court is unavailable as its just a few minutes walk away on the other side of Hastings Park. And while not lit themselves, there is enough ambient light from the fields spilling over to play late into the evening, huge plus!

    • @JoelSchat
      @JoelSchat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Good to know about the ambient light at Hastings park. So to get this right, in a 2 block radius there is the Steve Nash Family Court, Empire Fields (Plateau Courts) and the Hastings community park courts across the street? Wow that's a lot of hoops!

The Steve Nash rims are too low, so they shouldn’t have gotten a 10. The Granville Island rims are also bent. It makes it easier to shoot. But the nets also are never taken down, so it’s always half court there.
