A short biography of the sculptor Camille Claudel that highlights the tumultuous affair she had with August Rodin and Claude Debussy, her tragic life story and most of all her genius.
Thank you for this very insightful narration about Camille's life and work. It is so very sad that her mother and brother had her admitted to an asylum.
Schizophrenia was a common misdiagnosis in older generations because they had a one size fits all diagnosis at the time. Everyone even if depressed, bipolar, or having anxiety, was "schizophrenic." She was probably admitted against her will, even if she agreed momentarily, she wouldn't want to be there her whole life. People have bouts of mental instability such as depression and get over it. How sad and what an awful family to use her outspoken nature against her. Sadly this still happens today, not as much or as easily, but it does.
I think you are confused about who he married and when he died. Camille never married Rodin. She was his mistress for awhile. Rodin married his longtime companion Rose Beuret in 1917, a couple weeks before her death. She died 2 weeks after the marriage and he died in November. The marriage was considered to be for the purpose of protecting his estate.
Finally a video without music, special effects and commercials 👍👏💚 What a relief ❣️ Thank You!🧡💆💛
❤️Tragic biography as she was an inspiration in her day, her sculptures are astounding.

I know, isn't it tragic?
How stupid. She had a lot of heart ache. Her own mother did not visit her own flesh and blood once. Horrible family she had.
She was depressed bc she could pursue an art career. Camille's passion was art. Without her passion she felt lifeless.
