I’ve learned that short of having the interviewer call HR on the spot to hire you (happend early in my career) that any positive signs from the interviewer do not guarantee an offer. I’ve been called experienced, qualified, or a strong candidate during interviews. I never got the offer. If there’s more than two people deciding on you, there’s usually one skeptic. If they need to meet the ten person interviewed requirement, but already offered to an internal employee, you’ve wasted my time. If they realize you’re 50+ in person, but were fooled by your shortened resume experience, forget a chance.

Sometime they’ll even interview you knowing they already chose someone else

Here's the thing even if an interviewer kind of "sells you" that doesn't mean you will get the job, they might just hire someone more qualified or an internal hire or even cancel the position if they're complete failures at finding talent...

Yeah some companies pre-reject people and don't want to make an offer to someone they think will reject, whether that's based on misaligned salary or lack of interest, funny candidates put themselves in vulnerable spots but companies don't want to even seem vulnerable

Thanks for this. I had an interview this week on Wednesday and I have prepared for at least a week. I defended myself well but, I am a person who is not optimistic about jobs because I have been disappointed. But after the interview one of the panel members asked me of my availability, I said I was ready and he said let's say they offer you the position how long it will take you to be on board, I told a couple of weeks. then the Director of the organization told me : WE HOPE to wrap up the interview process today and our recommendations, and it will take 3 weeks from checking the references, degrees, and other stuff. I was asked if I had questions and was able to ask fundamental questions from research from the organization. The Director answered them and I thanked all of them. I am still waiting.

I had the exact same experience. They actually did not get back to me by email at all but I found out I was not selected as I had to go to the job posting site itself which showed the job tracker and the hiring process. I asked the talent acquisitioner for some feedback and a couple other questions and he replied by saying they closed the role and that the reasoning was classified. He also said that there will be another role uploaded, in which he will connect me with it based on the progress I have made in the hiring process of the first position, which was a math and reading assessment and a pre-recorded interview, which led me to be invited to a live interview with the hiring manager. Maybe check other sources and sites linked to the position you applied as there could have been a circumstance where they don't reach back to you by mail or in any other common direct way of communciation.

This vid had some really good advice. For me interviewing is a two way street ! Yes the company wants to see if I can do the job but I want to see if I really want to work for the company. A good first impression goes both ways. I went on an interview a few months ago and met with the hiring manager and the department head of a local college. The hiring manager was awesome but the department head was arrogant and clueless. Anyway after the interview, I realized I did not want to work for this person. The following morning I sent an email to both stating I no longer was interested in advancing through the process. The fit was not a good one. They both replied stating they were surprised and I was a great candidate, blah blah blah. Truth is they wanted a yes man and thats not me. One of the best decisions of my life! I since have been hired at another college. Pay and benefits significantly higher than the college that I rejected. Great boss and co workers. Moral of the story....be humble, be respectful but know your worth!!!

Jobs get renewed every 30 days on LinkedIn, when they are promoted, so if it was an old job I wouldn't worry about that

I think that's the same with indeed but I'm not too sure. Yeah, I never really worry about it. Also, my past company's hiring manager told me they forgot to take a job posting off a job site.

I did an interview where right at the beginning before I said anything besides “doin good how are you” they told me “yea, I was given a bunch of names of guys to call this week, so that’s kinda what I’m doing” which kinda crushed my hopes before the interview even started

not true at all. many companies pick a pool of candidates before starting any interviews. even if ur an incredible candidate, they have a duty to interview everyone that they selected.

I went on the 1st and 2nd interview… they did run a background check, a credit check, asked for 2 references and sent me to do the drug test! Thanksgiving happened in between.. I sent a follow up email and I’m still waiting to know what is what. Is this a bad sign of not being a candidate? Or a strong possibility?
