  • Today, we revisit not only one of our favorite handguns but really one that has been appreciated around the entire world for over 80 years now; the FN HI Power. To be exact, we take a Canadian Inglis No. 1 MK I* pistol with original production holster/shoulder stock to the range. We wanted to see how this old girl handled herself, and how reliable she would be with modern ammunition. Also, we try out an extended mag that was given to us recently, why not?
Just having some fun, and also we look at a No. 2 MK I*, along with 2 different military issue canvis holsters.
We do talk a bit about the history, but for more, please go to the playlist and checkout our original video from last year, cheers.

Inglis made Hi Powers for the Chinese National Army during WW2. These pistol were fitted with the stock holster and adjustable rear sight. The Canadian Army Hi Powers had no stock and a fix rear sight.

Stocked pistols are making a comeback with the B&T USW, Endo adapter, Flux Defense, etc. Maybe it's because if you want something in the traditional SMG form factor, you're better off with a rifle-based PDW, and if you want something smaller/lighter that's more capable than a pistol, we're back to putting stocks on pistols. As for aftermarket mags, Mec-Gar never disappoints, and they make mags for all the popular Brownings, Sigs, CZs, and Berettas. A lot of their mags are higher capacity than the originals without increasing size or sacrificing reliability.

I competed at Desert Brutality over the weekend in “classic” division using a Valmet 62s and an Inglis. The Inglis served me well; no malfunctions. Some negatives: non-drop free magazine, tangent sight is small and slow, trigger was clunky. I did look cool though.

If you remove the mag disconnect safety, you can have drop-free mags with the Inglis. My No.2 had its safety removed, probably in the UK.

I have a Canadian Inglis No.1* Hi Power w/original SA LTD. 1945 stock. Very accurate pistol and the stock really does make it easier to shoot accurately at longer distances. I have not shot it more than 100 yards. Get lots of comments about it's legallity from those who don't know. I just )

20 rd mags were issued to a few units within HM Armed Forces. Predominantly units like 22nd SAS and 14 Int. Used almost exclusively in Northern Ireland. Also with the CRW wing in the black role.

I might have to find myself a pre 94 high power after my blue ray copy of gunsmith cats shows up. Nice high powers! Shoulder stock seem silly today but I know that china has Its reasons. Definitely super cool for collecting. Congratulations on hitting 20k!

Remember, Rally REALLY liked the TZ-75 original issue. Better steel she said.
Kenichi Sonoda loved guns and had quite a selection; actually had a 1968 GT 500 KR that he used as his model for Rally's car.

@Mishaco I purchased one of these wood stocks years ago from an ebay estate auction marked SA LTD 1945 on left side and
MADE IN CANADA right side under the metal hinge. Just because I liked it and I had a friend with a real one. I have a Browning Hi-Power 1972 vintage (owned since new) and an Indian Ordinance Hi-Power MK 1 A1 unknown year that I had thought about milling to accept this stock but was hesitant to do so. I was afraid of the modification making it become a SBR
oh well I still like it even if . Thank you good review

      Hello Albert,
Very cool that you found the stock on eBay! If you ever want to sell it, please let me know. I have one of these original Chinese contract guns, but the stock isn’t in the best shape.
I would strongly suggest against milling your existing pistol, as it would definitely make it an SBR. And if you own a milled non Inglis pistol and the stock it would show intent to make an SBR, which unfortunately is a Felony

I've got a holster exactly like this one. I had the pistol but sold it long ago unfortunately.

I almost bought one of those, minus the stock, back in the 90's. I just couldn't really spend that much cash. I couldn't afford that much for a collector's item.

I owned one once long ago. Main thing I didn't like about it was the great amount of play between the gun and stock. The old adage that a shoulder stock turns a good pistol into a really BLEEP carbine has a lot of truth to it

Is there a C&R exemption for this pistol ? Strictly speaking this configuration is a short barreled rifle, would need a 16" barrel to be legal. I have never seen a long barrel for an HP.

    • @reevesc87
      @reevesc87 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes these guns are specifically exempt in the nfa and listed by serial number.
