I have listened to you guys ever since I came across you on Napster. You are are one of my alltime favorites. Keep it up! I wish Evan could bottle that talent up and sell it.
They are brilliant! Do not miss a chance to see them perform in person. Paul Mehling is quite the affable and witty entertainer as well as being "The Godfather" of gypsy swing in the USA. Love these guys!
Great stuff from a UK fan of this genre of jazz. I saw the great Stephane Grappelli on violin, founder of the Quintette of the Hot Club of France with Django Reinhardt, in live concert numerous times over here before he passed away. The Hot Club of San Francisco pay a superb tribute to Stephane and Django.
Paul, your solo in Black & White keeps me from sleeping at night. The harmonics resolving into the C is ingenious. You're slowly morphing into my favorite guitarist, keep it up.
I just saw you guys last night, and you all blew me away. You're a real inspiration for my style of playing, and your idea for Silent Surrealism was fantastic. I met Paul last night, and instead of being an absolute jerk like all other performers, you, and the rest of the band were incredible kind. I'm so glad I picked up all of your albums, and had them autographed. Isabelle, you have a great voice, and Baker, you were amazing with the trumpet AND bass. Please keep playing guys!
Beautiful tone and playing all around. I was at DFNW in 2004, but haven't made it back since, to my regret. Glad you shared a little bit of it with us!
I LOVE THIS TUNE!!! Still the tightest swing jazz group on the West Coast. Never miss a chance to see Paul's group live -- not only great musicianship, but highly entertaining. Check him out at the Djangofest shows that Nick Lehr produces on the West Coast. TERRIFIC!
Was there ever a more tonic music than this? I can never think of the (rather tawdry) Paris quarter of Belleville without hearing Django in the background.
That was a treat, thank you! There needs to be more appreciation for The Hot Club of San Francisco and more videos as well. I think it might be an impossibility for me to see you guys in Selinsgrove, PA in September, but you should come to Philadelphia instead anyway! If you do, I will collapse in tears of profound joy. Honestly, I believe I would faint, it would be too much hearing Claire de Lune live. People would consider me a lunatic. =]
Hi Paul, I find you to be a very creative player which is a skill that is much lacked by many gipsy players, even some of the top ones. I love the way you threw in some Sweet Georgia Brown on Black & White. Evan price is probably the one of the finest fiddle players in the world nowadays. To me on top of Florin Nicolescu & Martin Weiss. Regards from downunder.
Long gone days since HCSF and LJH visited SoCal for any performances... especially since OCJF closed several summers back. PLEASE, Paul.... (have to drive around in my car now just to hear the CDs ... Tchavolo Swing earworm... don't want it to leave!). --NE Esq. PS: thanks for your emails... still working on moving up to your area.
Thanks so much. Tell your friends, post it on FACEBOOK and don't forget- we have a HOLIDAY CD coming out at the end of the year...Something for everyone! Hope to see you soon and thanks so much! ~~p
these guys visited my high school couple of years ago. they played with a black and white movie as a background and it was really something!

The HCSF continues to astound me. One of the best Gypsy Quintets extant today.
