it really bothers me how pretty much no one acknowledges that you can be uncomfortable with your body by being too skinny. people have asked me if I was anorexic and that i'm "all skin and bones" and it's hurtful. it's not just about being overweight people.
people don't acknowledge it because being skinny isn't something to be ashamed about. so if you get hurt, you have a mental problem and if youre too skinny, eat a burger and stop crying, you whine more than a 4 year old who didn't get his favorite toy, its pathetic.

And sorry but as much as I would like to ignore people's comments, having absolutely no one think I have an even remotely pleasant body affects me a lot. It is absolutely something I feel ashamed about, and just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean this feeling doesn't exist. By the way, this is the only way I can even talk about not liking my body: anonymously. If I even mention it to someone they get mad like you and act like I'm a baby crying over nothing. Can you just not be a jerk and accept that I am struggling with self esteem a lot, and having you tell me to "stop crying" makes me want to cry more. I am hurting and I have no one who will listen, not even family. What do you want from me?
The struggle is real. It's so hard for me to gain weight even if I eat a lot and then almost everyone I know including the ones I just met are telling me that I'm too skinny and that I would look better if I put some weight! I really hate it when people say that. It makes me feel so depressed and it affects my self esteem and confidence badly. It's not like I'm starving myself ffs! I'm really angry.

I mean who doesn't want that little extra curve and booty. lol But eating 5-6 times a day is just kinda a little too much for me especially that I'm also trying to cut down my meat, oil and sugar intake. I do eat a lot but not exactly everyday. Haha I will still try though. :)

I still eat meat but I try to avoid red meat as much as possible. Anyways, you are wrong about vegans and vegetarians. Not all of them are skinny. Just Google vegan body builders.

It's kind of sad that not that many people 'care' about girls being uncomfortable in their own body because they're too skinny. For example, telling someone : 'You're so skinny/You look like a stick' isn't that big of a deal for most people. Even though there are thousands of skinny girls who aren't comfortable In their own skin. I'm 24 and still underweight. It really does gets easier because when you grow up, you will be turning down the same guys who used to pick on you and the girls who were rude to you will probably get fat. I've lived it. People think being skinny makes you confident, but I hate my body. I feel so frail and childlike. I'm 16, 5'6, and 103 lb. I used to be 110 until jaw surgery which made me lose even more weight. People think it's because I don't eat a lot, but the reason I don't eat a lot at meals is because my appetite has become so small I hardly have to eat anything before I start feeling sick. I love my waist, but I hate how bony the rest of my body is. I would love to be filled out and more feminine-looking, but people still mistake me for a 12 year old.

It took me about 3 months to put on about 5-6 kilos and to get some curves going on. The point is that you don't need to gain fat. Try to build your muscles. Even though the process is slower, it is healthier. You can both stay healthy and look good. Be aware of the food you are eating, you need proteins and vitamins. I'm flicking skinny and TALL too, so that makes my appearance really bad. I'm flat chested, no ass, and awkwardly tall. It really hurts when ppl say "you're like a skeleton", "go eat more", "no body" and "anorexic"because calling someone too thin is the same as calling someone fat. I have high metabolism so there's nothing I can do?? I eat like so much, because food is my life, and I don't even wear shorts, skirts or dresses in the summer even when it is burning hot outside.. I basically wear jeans and leggings throughout the entire year..
yass I know what your talking about!! But I wear jean shorts in the summer but I absolutely hate the sports kind because they're so baggy!!! I also steer away from leggings (sadly) in public because of the whole no butt issue. If it is, it's a very pretty name! :D Anyways, I read your comments above and I kinda get what you're going through, because I get called out for being too skinny as well and it really bothers me sometimes! Its not that I don't eat, but I do get full quite quickly :/ I think what we skinny people should do is to have 5-6 meals a day (smaller portions) and eat food rich in good healthy carbs like potato, brown rice, pasta, and other good stuff like avocado, almonds, walnuts (just include more nuts in your diet) (she mentioned this in the video). Do some exercise (less cardio more strength training). If we do all the things mentioned in this video and I'm sure we will get results - but like she said, it takes time, but as long as we follow the guidelines we will get there! I believe we can!!! ^_^ As for people calling you a skeleton, don't listen to them. I know its hard not to sometimes, but do realize that you are an amazing human being with great potential and have a lot to give to the universe. How you look does not define who you are! :))) This goes for anyone else out there who is struggling with life. I wish you have a positive and smooth journey with your weight gaining. Alright so I've been skinny my entire life. I'm 14 years old, when I was like 8-12 it was really bad. I weighed like 50-60 pounds but now I'm about 95. I hate being this skinny because my chest is so flat. I'm 12 and I'm skinny, everyone at my school always tells me to eat more especially my family and friends. I've been eating allot but not much, its because I get full real easily. Its like when you get that feeling that your already full and want to vomit when your forced to eat more. My BFF calls me flat chested also (I'm not literally flat chested, its just small). I'm 5'0 and I weight at 95 to 90 lbs. I have recently been losing a ton of weight as well due to acid reflux, high metabolism, and little/poor diet and appetite. I hate when people ask me if I've lost weight or they'll comment, it's like saying "Have you gained weight? You need to stop eating so much!" it really takes a shot to the heart. I feel you :(. One time we were changing in a changing room for P.E and I wore a bandeau underneath my shirt. And one girl was like "you're so flat chested and you're wearing a bra...haha man-like" inside I felt like taking out a knife and stab her, but outside I just laughed it out.
Don't feel bad about it you'll gain a little wait soon anyway because your just 13 right now :) and when bigger people tease you about being thin, just remember when they're 30, they're gonna have stomach rolls and huge hips. I'm really skinny (98 lbs) and tall (5'7", making me look even skinnier) although I eat 5-6 meals and lots of snacks per day. I also drink smoothies, my health supplement.. I'm 20 years old but girls who are younger than me have bigger boobs.. I have never experienced to be fat, or average.. I have always been a walking skeleton. Well, I'm totally flat-chested and it makes me feel so insecure. And my thigh gap.. Uugh.. my cat can pass through my thigh gap. Wearing pants, shorts, and above the knee skirts make me a head-turner in an embarrassing way because I hear people whisper "oh she's too thin", "is she sick?", "is she a girl or a gay?", "might be anorexic".. And I really hate it when people tell me to eat a lot because I do eat a lot.. even a lot more than they do. And I'm not sick, especially not anorexic. Some strangers thought that I might be a gay because my "adam's apple" stands out in my long, skinny neck. Nobody can even lay their head on my shoulder because they say it's sharp.. That makes me really sad and insulted.. I also struggle from going to the c.r. several times per day. Flat boobs, flat ass, sharp shoulders, elbows and knees, wide thigh gaps.. I wanna kiss all these goodbye.. So thank you for this. I've been actually doing almost everything here except for drinking milk and strength training. I really hope these will work! Dear ladies, don't be afraid to lift heavy in the gym. It will help you gain weight along with more calories. Although it may be more expensive, try protein drinks if you tend to get full fast. They have lots of protein and calories as well as are easy to drink because it's just one drink.

over weight people may find it hard to understand, but its a reality. i struggled with gaining weight when i was younger. i still at 44 have issues with weight. i would like to gain about 25 quality pounds. nice video. but remember the more food your body has to process, the greater the wear and tear on your body.... dont over work your digestive system if you dont want a worn out body internally and dont want to age. low calorie dense nutrition is the way to go. sleep 8 hours. workout but allow your body time to repair and cut of the junk food

I was very skinny when I was your age and I was always self conscious. I am 24 and still only 100lbs and I receive the same comments, but my body has filled in now. It gets easier. And now all of the people who made fun of me in school are overweight and I am the one laughing and turning down the same boys that used to pick on me. Although I am still trying to gain weight for my health, i am much more confident in my skin and bones.

I'm 5'5 and 106lbs. I used to be 101lbs a month ago so I gained 5lbs in a month. I have been doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred almost every night because exercising helps me gain appetite. Been drinking soy protein after exercising too. I am definitely eating more fruits and veges and snacking more in between. Hopefully I keep on gaining.

It may seem weird for many people but gaining weight is double harder that to loss weight. I am 18 yrs old and I weight 39kg. I have tried to gain weight but it has been an impossible journey. I went through a lot of stress and anxiety. Then I decided to go to the doctor. They said that I have a high metabolism rate and that I should try to eat more. But that never helped! So I just gave up on looking normal.

I have another question, you say keep your cardio to warmups and cooldowns, I didn't do cardio at all honestly, and I always feel sleepy after doing even simple yoga poses, are those two related to each other somehow? it also feels a little better if I don't eat before my workout, I am drinking water as much as I can handle, I really don't know why I feel sleepy after I'm done, thaaanks in advance.
how do I get out of this?! long story short I am anorexic and my friends know I have diet pills and they now have me dealing them out to them and idk if u guys have ever bought diet pills but they're at least $10 a bottle and don't have a job so I have 0 income. and they said they would tell on my if I ever stopped being their connection and I don't know how i'm going to die first! anorexia or my parents killing me if they ever find out I have and am giving away diet pills!
I had that problem. I solved it by drinking 2l of water per day. I ususally drink from plastic bottle (0.5L) and drink it all up. Do it 4 times in a day and you will be fine
It's difficult to reach balance when you're trying to gain weight :/ I used to eat as much as I could, but I didn't gain much and I've lost my flat belly, the only thing that made me feel confident T_T So now I'm focusing more on strenght exercises, the process is sooooo slow Love from Buenos Aires

when I was skinny I had trouble eating enough food to gain weight, I began making protein shakes with 8 raw eggs and drinking a gallon of milk per day. It helped me get the protein and calories I needed. And Joanna is awesome.

I've noticed a lot of people in the comments are very young.... Listen to me kids/ young teens I'm very skinny sense forever! I've been made fun of, bullied and everything. When I was little I came home crying because a kid was bullying me my mom wanted to help me gain weight... Hello, I'm back after 9 months! lol I just wanna say thank you so much for your very helpful and amazing tips on gaining weight. They helped me big time in reaching my goal. It does suck when they say those negative things and most dont even know that when they do it upsets us and makes us unhappy at that moment about our bodies. I'm 22 years old and my weight has always been between 100-117. at 21 I gained a good bit of weight but it was unhealthy weight. too much junk food and a lot of home made mom food. after that I hit a stage where I lost all of that and now I'm back to 109 I feel like I should be a little more chunky. but the other voice in my head tells me. to just stay this way and that maybe with the time my body will change. but that still doesnt make me feel better. Stop eating wheat. It's blocking your body from absorbing nutrients. Once you do, you may be surprised by the weight u can gain. Give in a go. Gluten free.

Fast metabolism, good genetics and crohn's keeps me about 100 lbs at 5' 2". I'm about 10 lbs underweight. Sick 3 times-2 crohn's flare ups- 72 lbs & 90 lbs and then 6 years with a swallowing disorder, waiting for surgery 84 lbs. Every time I gain weight it plateaus round 100 lbs. I'm healthy at 43. Eat well, with a sweet tooth for snacks (though yogurt and granola bars (no marshmallows or chocolate) appear more). i would cook with coconut or red palm oil (organic). or even real butter with organic 100 percent grass fed cows. same for milk, whole milk from USDA organic 100% GRASS FED COWS.

Honestly I started smoking weed back when I was in high school so I could start eating more. I've been smoking since, it helps me eat and I've only gained 10lb but I stopped getting rude comments. Exercise helps too, if you do exercises to gain muscle. I know it can be hard to eat sometimes. Just try to force yourself to eat even if you can't. I used to eat bread and swallow it down with water to make my stomach stop hurting from hunger. Cornbread, honey buns, any little Debbie snack, ramen, brownie/cake has really made me gain weight as of recent.

The struggle is real. It's so hard for me to gain weight even if I eat a lot and then almost everyone I know including the ones I just met are telling me that I'm too skinny and that I would look better if I put some weight! People think being skinny makes you confident, but I hate my body. I feel so frail and childlike. I'm 16, 5'6, and 103 lb. I used to be 110 until jaw surgery which made me lose even more weight. People think it's because I don't eat a lot, but the reason I don't eat a lot at meals is because my appetite has become so small I hardly have to eat anything before I start feeling sick. I love my waist, but I hate how bony the rest of my body is. I would love to be filled out and more feminine-looking, but people still mistake me for a 12 year old.

It took me about 3 months to put on about 5-6 kilos and to get some curves going on. The point is that you don't need to gain fat. Try to build your muscles. Even though the process is slower, it is healthier. You can both stay healthy and look good. Be aware of the food you are eating, you need proteins and vitamins. I'm flicking skinny and TALL too, so that makes my appearance really bad. I'm flat chested, no ass, and awkwardly tall. It really hurts when ppl say "you're like a skeleton", "go eat more", "no body" and "anorexic"because calling someone too thin is the same as calling someone fat. I have high metabolism so there's nothing I can do?? I eat like so much, because food is my life, and I don't even wear shorts, skirts or dresses in the summer even when it is burning hot outside.. I basically wear jeans and leggings throughout the entire year..

If it is, it's a very pretty name! :D Anyways, I read your comments above and I kinda get what you're going through, because I get called out for being too skinny as well and it really bothers me sometimes! Its not that I don't eat, but I do get full quite quickly :/ I think what we skinny people should do is to have 5-6 meals a day (smaller portions) and eat food rich in good healthy carbs like potato, brown rice, pasta, and other good stuff like avocado, almonds, walnuts (just include more nuts in your diet) (she mentioned this in the video). Do some exercise (less cardio more strength training). If we do all the things mentioned in this video and I'm sure we will get results - but like she said, it takes time, but as long as we follow the guidelines we will get there! I believe we can!!! ^_^
As for people calling you a skeleton, don't listen to them. I know its hard not to sometimes, but do realize that you are an amazing human being with great potential and have a lot to give to the universe. How you look does not define who you are! :))) This goes for anyone else out there who is struggling with life.

How you treat yourself is how people will treat you. if you act as though you love your body everyone else will just accept you the way you are. i know its hard because iv'e been through the same but trust me sweety it will get better if you start to accept it. everybody is build differently and if they can be accepted for the way that they were built then we should be accepted for the way that we are built.

I'm 12 and I'm skinny, everyone at my school always tells me to eat more especially my family and friends. I've been eating allot but not much, its because I get full real easily. Its like when you get that feeling that your already full and want to vomit when your forced to eat more. My BFF calls me flat chested also (I'm not literally flat chested, its just small). I'm 5'0 and I weight at 95 to 90 lbs. I have recently been losing a ton of weight as well due to acid reflux, high metabolism, and little/poor diet and appetite. I hate when people ask me if I've lost weight or they'll comment, it's like saying "Have you gained weight? You need to stop eating so much!" it really takes a shot to the heart.

Don't feel bad about it you'll gain a little wait soon anyway because your just 13 right now :) and when bigger people tease you about being thin, just remember when they're 30, they're gonna have stomach rolls and huge hips. You'll have a great bod n they're gonna be jealous ;) that's how I deal with it lol. I'm really skinny (98 lbs) and tall (5'7", making me look even skinnier) although I eat 5-6 meals and lots of snacks per day. I also drink smoothies, my health supplement.. I'm 20 years old but girls who are younger than me have bigger boobs.. I have never experienced to be fat, or average.. I have always been a walking skeleton. Well, I'm totally flat-chested and it makes me feel so insecure. And my thigh gap.. Uugh.. my cat can pass through my thigh gap. Wearing pants, shorts, and above the knee skirts make me a head-turner in an embarrassing way because I hear people whisper "oh she's too thin", "is she sick?", "is she a girl or a gay?", "might be anorexic".. And I really hate it when people tell me to eat a lot because I do eat a lot.. even a lot more than they do. And I'm not sick, especially not anorexic. Some strangers thought that I might be a gay because my "adam's apple" stands out in my long, skinny neck. Nobody can even lay their head on my shoulder because they say it's sharp.. That makes me really sad and insulted.. I also struggle from going to the c.r. several times per day. Flat boobs, flat ass, sharp shoulders, elbows and knees, wide thigh gaps.. I wanna kiss all these goodbye.. So thank you for this. I've been actually doing almost everything here except for drinking milk and strength training. I really hope these will work! Dear ladies, don't be afraid to lift heavy in the gym. It will help you gain weight along with more calories. Although it may be more expensive, try protein drinks if you tend to get full fast. They have lots of protein and calories as well as are easy to drink because it's just one drink.

over weight people may find it hard to understand, but its a reality. i struggled with gaining weight when i was younger. i still at 44 have issues with weight. i would like to gain about 25 quality pounds. nice video. but remember the more food your body has to process, the greater the wear and tear on your body.... dont over work your digestive system if you dont want a worn out body internally and dont want to age. low calorie dense nutrition is the way to go. sleep 8 hours. workout but allow your body time to repair and cut of the junk food

I was very skinny when I was your age and I was always self conscious. I am 24 and still only 100lbs and I receive the same comments, but my body has filled in now. It gets easier. And now all of the people who made fun of me in school are overweight and I am the one laughing and turning down the same boys that used to pick on me. Although I am still trying to gain weight for my health, i am much more confident in my skin and bones.

I'm 5'5 and 106lbs. I used to be 101lbs a month ago so I gained 5lbs in a month. I have been doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred almost every night because exercising helps me gain appetite. Been drinking soy protein after exercising too. I am definitely eating more fruits and veges and snacking more in between. Hopefully I keep on gaining.

It may seem weird for many people but gaining weight is double harder that to loss weight. I am 18 yrs old and I weight 39kg. I have tried to gain weight but it has been an impossible journey. I went through a lot of stress and anxiety. Then I decided to go to the doctor. They said that I have a high metabolism rate and that I should try to eat more. But that never helped! So I just gave up on looking normal.

I had that problem. I solved it by drinking 2l of water per day.
I ususally drink from plastic bottle (0.5L) and drink it all up. Do it 4 times in a day and you will be fine
I used to swallow a lot of air while drinking fluids but now I don't most of the time, drinking lots fluids help just make sure you don't swallow air

It's difficult to reach balance when you're trying to gain weight :/ I used to eat as much as I could, but I didn't gain much and I've lost my flat belly, the only thing that made me feel confident T_T So now I'm focusing more on strenght exercises, the process is sooooo slow

when I was skinny I had trouble eating enough food to gain weight, I began making protein shakes with 8 raw eggs and drinking a gallon of milk per day. It helped me get the protein and calories I needed. And Joanna is awesome.

I'm 22 years old and my weight has always been between 100-117. at 21 I gained a good bit of weight but it was unhealthy weight. too much junk food and a lot of home made mom food. after that I hit a stage where I lost all of that and now I'm back to 109 I feel like I should be a little more chunky. but the other voice in my head tells me. to just stay this way and that maybe with the time my body will change. but that still doesnt make me feel better. Fast metabolism, good genetics and crohn's keeps me about 100 lbs at 5' 2". I'm about 10 lbs underweight. Sick 3 times-2 crohn's flare ups- 72 lbs & 90 lbs and then 6 years with a swallowing disorder, waiting for surgery 84 lbs. Every time I gain weight it plateaus round 100 lbs. I'm healthy at 43. Eat well, with a sweet tooth for snacks (though yogurt and granola bars (no marshmallows or chocolate) appear more). I've started low strength training and your tips will get me to increase the weight. Thanks.

I was already really slim when I went through a really bad breakup a few months ago and I lost ten pounds (which doesn't seem like much, but for someone who's underweight, that was a lot). oh my god so glad that there are more people like me , infact i am not evn that skinny , i have good upper body and lower body is medium !! but all my relatives and friends continuously keep telling me to eat , sometimes people behave so illiterate man , its all about metabolism , i tried the butter approach and i put on amazing weight but as soon as i stopped i lost around 5 kgs !!:O but i really do think i am not skinny in any way , i am just thin !!buti have thin arms !! its the society that makes it worse and we all only want acceptance and to be treated decently but i have heard real caustic stuff like "why are you abnormal ?" "skeleton" "toothpick" and what not :/ Thin shaming is bad and extremely hurtful !! :( my own parents say things like " have you seen how you look?" i had thisproblem ever since i was small , and people used to laugh at my face with my dad telling me " we feel ashamed becz of u " :(

i would cook with coconut or red palm oil (organic). or even real butter with organic 100 percent grass fed cows. same for milk, whole milk from USDA organic 100% GRASS FED COWS.
My family isn't very supportive they just tell me to eat more and when my aunties friends came to visit they did nothing but tease me about my weight and show off their fucking daughter

Honestly I started smoking weed back when I was in high school so I could start eating more. I've been smoking since, it helps me eat and I've only gained 10lb but I stopped getting rude comments. Exercise helps too, if you do exercises to gain muscle. I know it can be hard to eat sometimes. Just try to force yourself to eat even if you can't. I used to eat bread and swallow it down with water to make my stomach stop hurting from hunger. Cornbread, honey buns, any little Debbie snack, ramen, brownie/cake has really made me gain weight as of recent.
Hey, I'm gonna be 12 in 2 months, I am 5"0 and I weigh 53 pounds (24 kg) I am extremly skinny, and I hate it. I have thin chicken legs and teeny tiny wrists. I am healthy tho, I have P.E in school, and I love eating. Especially chicken and brockley. I need to gain at least 3 pounds by summer.
