Along with homemade gifts another tip I found to be helpful is to purchase gifts throughout the year. Whenever I'm out and see something that reminds me of someone I'll purchase it and collect everything in a Christmas tub and then I have a little stockpile of gifts to pick from. One year I made my husband 12 love letters along with a date night idea so he got to open a new gift every month and we could go on a fun date🥰 a lot of the dates were inexpensive too- movie night with homemade pizza or visiting a park for a walk. Happy holidays!
My husband and I don't like the pressure surrounding holidays and this Thanksgiving we just spent it alone- let me tell ya it was the BEST I've ever had. We cooked a bunch of food, drank wine, danced in the kitchen, talked and I loved every minute. Wishing everyone a happy holiday 💕
Free gift idea that doesn't have to be for Christmas: my husband's birthday was in November, and so I went through my Google Photos and put all my favorites of him in an album titled "Pictures I Love of You." Added captions and everything. It was especially sweet because our first baby was born in August, so I got to use the captions to tell him what an amazing husband and father he is. On Christmas he returned the favor. 🥰 One of the most romantic gifts I've both given and received, and it didn't cost a thing.
Maybe next year we have a Community Event making some sort of holiday gift for loved ones - everyone doesn’t need to do the same thing but it could be fun and festive!
I absolutely love your advice videos! This season can be so incredibly difficult and full of pressure, so I'm sending lots of love and empathy out there to anyone struggling with things at the moment ❤️
My baby girl smiled so big everytime she saw you on the TV while we were playing on the floor! She normally doesn't smile like that if she notices the TV.
Can you do part 2 on here too please? This was really helpful. I’m going to a therapy session today and we’re dedicating this session to handling all the triggers that come up with seeing my family and going to my hometown. It’s so easy for me to slip into a very dark bad place when I see them but I also am sad bc they’re getting older and idk what do do anymore. I had cut them off but I’m 32 now and now they’re having health problems and it makes me think about the future and what I want our relationships to look like when they’ve reached their final days. It hurts me to be with them but it hurts not to too. I appreciate this video and learned a lot. Thank you for your compassion and understanding.
I can completely relate to what you are going through! It's tough; I am working on the same topic with my therapist. I hope you can find a way to have a relationship with them while ensuring your mental health and boundaries are respectdb❤
Wow, this is exactly the situation I find myself in as well. Although it's not just the holidays, as this affects me all year long I feel. But the holidays are especially difficult when it comes to this just because of expectations and pressure. It's not easy being a 31 year old trying to heal herself while being in her most difficult period of life, alongside mending complicated relationships while being scared of time running out.
Hey lovely, I have a question please? My birthday is on boxing day and every year my birthday just feels like an extension of Christmas. Restaurants/shops/other fun activities are closed, the beach is packed on the public holiday and friends are away at their families for Christmas. I rarely look forward to my birthday for these reasons and I'd love this year to be different, any tips?
I just did some yoga and am now enjoying a very mild nespresso coffee while relaxing. The yule/christmas holiday is no longer the same for me, not since I became pregnant this year. My mindset has changed, things that wasn't as important is important know because of our little one. The winter holidays has the last few years for me been.. different, chaotic and with less joy. A lot of the times it feels like the deep joy, giving, helping and sharing the love around us has been sucked out and exchanged with "give and take" and material things. I'm missing that.. spark!
I have never felt the Christmas curmudgeon. However my seasons are late fall and early spring. When its ugliest outside. If depression or anxiety doesn't attack you for the holidays it will find another time to get ya.
Thank you.❤ This is my first holiday season without my soul-dog of 14 years, and I'll be leaving our home and everything else I know to move overseas in two months. Everything has been hard, but you made some good points that feel helpful.❤
I feel like since leaving my parents house the holidays have slowly lost their spark. My husband works in the medical field and has worked most Christmas’ we’ve been together. I LOVE Christmas but have such a hard time feeling Christmasy at home. We try to go make experiences when we can to celebrate like going to light shows etc
The hardest part of Christmas for me is that my parents work on Christmas. And they will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. All I want for Christmas is quality time but it’s near impossible for my family, who owns a small business that traditionally doesn’t close for Christmas.
I think the financial stress of christmas is what really gets me as an educational assistant that lives paycheck to paycheck

Yes, hi. Hello. I heard mention of a book club? 🤔
I have just been working a lot. So I feel like I haven't been able to enjoy it.

I’m drinking coffee. Hope all is well. My piece of advice is to slow down and enjoy the moments.
Disappear. Improve. Return. Shock everyone.
👍👍😊😊😍😍🙌🙌
Oh what is the crystal in the background? I have the same one, a smaller version and I don't know what it is..

I really didn't want to do gifts this year. My mother in law wants a tea kettle so we are doing that so she can heat up her coffee. Stuff like that
Can u do a coffee talk on how to really love urslef
