    Great video! Very nicely edited and a very informative format, keep up the good work!
    I am looking to get a p108 and would be interested to know how easy it is to sharpen the blade (I personally prefer a softer, easier sharpening steel to the super steels!)?
    Thanks again for the review, from a happy new subscriber!

      Thank you for subbing. I'm glad you liked the video. 14c28n is pretty easy to sharpen. I use a KME system to sharpen mine. I post new youtube videos every weekend and post on Instagram under Everyday City Carry.

    Mine is smooth as silk and easy to open, a bit slippery like you said but not stiff to open.

    You should check out Steel Will's Intrigue knife, it only weighs 2.9oz & it has a 3.75" D2 blade. It's my most carried EDC knife. The mini version weighs in at 2.19oz if you prefer super light weight knives you might like it.

      Oh man. I didn't know they had a mini intrigue. I'll look into it. That sounds really cool.

      Average price for that one is just under $40!

    After using the 801, i will definitely pick this one up too

    • @EverydayCityCarry
      @EverydayCityCarry  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will say that I enjoyed the 801 more than the 108. But if you're looking for a beefier EDC at $40. The 108 is not a bad choice.

    ...The *best* views of this knife on YT, I think, Ray. This alone definitely justifies the 'late' review. Agreed about the weight factor -- just about the same as my P801SF, and for this reason I can't justify the good looking P801SF as part of my *regular* EDC rotation... so pretty much the same observation applies here. My Tangram Santa Fe comes in at 3.32 ounces with almost the same blade length and effective uses -- a big difference to me.

    • @EverydayCityCarry
      @EverydayCityCarry  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the Tangram santa Fe. Great knife.

    • @frederickj.7136
      @frederickj.7136 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Santa Fe is definitely a little "plain Jane" (not necessarily so much a bad thing) and generic looking, but the blade form has some original character. This also means it feels good psychologically as a true user's knife as opposed to a showpiece you may want to baby, which resonates well with me. I strongly prefer my lightweight FRN / FRCP Spyderco folders for EDC for similar reasons and consider these "form follows function", rather than in any way "cheapened".
      That said, I like the smaller 2.43 ounce Tangram Amarillo even better -- mine is my most satisfying, fun, and addictive flipper... which earns it a place in my regular rotation among all significantly more costly knives. There are not many really versatile, under 2.50 ounce folders anywhere near this well built, with an effectively upscale "budget" blade steel, at or near this price level. FYI, and for your viewers'. Thanks, Ray.
      P.S.- I may have to check out an Atmos if I spot a deal. But I'd guess the more conventional looking Amarillo would beat it out on each point of comparison mentioned, save for super low carry weight. Of course, just a wee bit over 2.4 ounces is non-burdensome in just about any situation.
      √ - Subscribed, BTW!

      What an even more incredible comment. Wow. Thank you for the insight. Sometimes I may think certain things and not know how to convey the message in my video. It takes a viewer to describe and word it much better than myself. You've done just that.
      I want that Amarillo. It sounds amazing. Amazon no longer ships any Tangram flippers to NYC however. Which is why I've held off on getting one.

    • @frederickj.7136
      @frederickj.7136 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I hope you get a crack at the kind of discounts available for several months from Tangram up until Dec. 31 (there was a single use coupon & coupon code in effect... and that in addition to some serious selective discounts on-site at Amazon if you were alert). I almost regret to tell you now... but I got my coyote brown Amarillo and black Santa Fe -- both together (w/ Prime) -- for about thirty five bucks. Just silly, really...
      Prices were up, the last I saw. But, you know, things change fast all the time at Amazon. Tangram steeply discounted, to blow out proportions, the brown Amarillo (only) for a few days... which is how I kind of automatically ended up with the coyote color scales. They're not bad and a change of pace. FYI.
      Thank you for the super approving comments. And best of luck with the channel. I may need to ask you for some advice on video production at an appropriate time!

    Nice video as usual....and I totally agree with you on the P-108...ive had that knife for a few months now and its definately not fidget friendly.....you are spot on about all the positives and negatives about this knife.....Btw, nice instagram page...just followed....and oh...some other reviewers say that the Ruike rep pronounces the name "Rake"....hope that helps.

    If gimping is a necessity on the flipper, carefully use a Dremel and a small diamond file to make your own.

    I have the 801 and it's similar and a great knife, Ruike's 14c28n is great stuff. It's also a bit slippery and I agree that a civivi backlash is probably a better choice overall. Civivi are going to be hard for anyone to beat at this price point.
    At least the 801 is a more gentlemanly looking knife. Wouldn't say the same about the 108 at least how it comes across on camera.

    • @EverydayCityCarry
      @EverydayCityCarry  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to say I enjoyed carrying the 801 more. And Civivi is just too good. Have you seen the civivi wyvern? Wow.

      I hadn't, wow that thing is beautiful. It's in D2 though which means I would have to take care of it too much where I live. I also spend half my time in an area with sub 3" knife laws like you, so maybe overall that's a good thing that it comes in a steel I'm not a fan of and I'm not spending as much on knives I can only carry part of the time :P

    • @frederickj.7136
      @frederickj.7136 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      D2 *could* surprise you on the matter of corrosion resistance, though I obviously can't speak to the *particulars* of your own circumstances. I only wanted to add that the effective properties of nominally D2 seem to vary quite a bit, manufacturer to manufacturer, or model to model in the case of Chinese made knives.
      So far, so good on my D2 TwoSun folders (3). I can relate, though, to concerns about at least the psychological effects of keeping an only "semi-stainless" blade in regular use in more favorable environments than I might infer apply to you from your comments, DontBotherNone.

      @@EverydayCityCarry I get my inventory in stock, and I gotta do "product testing" sometimes, for 10-20 minutes straight. All she hears is CLICK-CLICK-CLICK-CLICK to me, that sounds like music... to her, not so much. So next time I'm gonna just bump some Post Malone really loud while I do it.
