Excellent video. Good few techniques in here expertly demonstrated as usual Davie. Really like this fly. Off to give it a bash. That should catch plenty brownies up at Antermony loch. Many thanks
Thanks Davie, My tying has become very lazy over the last season (in Australia) but you have inspired me to lift my game and spend some quality time on the bench. Keep up the good work.
Hi Leigh Owen, I'm glad the videos have inspired you to tye more and thank you for the kind words, and don't worry I'll keep working away... All the very best Davie
Hey Davie, missed this one this morning. I have to sleep in the day time and take care of the wife at night. Great fly, I don't remember you tying with a lot of flash. I don't either. I do have it but unless it it an attractor or recipe calls for it, I find I don't use it otherwise. All the best and thanks for sharing. Sean
Nice traditional fly Davie!! Was thinking of a beaded black pennel on point a Kate McLaren middle dropper and the soldier palmer on the top dropper for a wee bit of traditional fun in the lochs. Good plan?
Hi Chas Man, Tye some with a peacock herl, black seals fur or sub and a friend likes a fiery brown but everything else is the same...I'm glad you enjoyed the video... All the very best Davie
Hi Neil Scobie, I have tyed some flies using the wally winging method for friends but not for myself...I'm glad you liked the fly... All the very best Davie
I remember that fly well Davie , i fished with jim Crawford on Loch Leven 20 odd years ago and he was using that fly.. Did you and other lads not win a competition on Grafham water with that very fly if i remember right ? ATB Stevie
Hi Stevie, The Benson and Hedges was still going at that time, I had a look for the article I wrote for Trout and Salmon in which I tyed the traditional sparklers like the soldier palmer, dunkeld sparkler and others and it was in June 2000 so it's certainly more the 20 years ago..Hope all is well with you... All the very best Davie..
Hi jparryprodeal, I mostly buy from the Glasgow Angling Centre as they sell hooks in packs of a 1000 as I prefer to buy them like this rather than in 25s which wouldn't last me that long... All the very best Davie
Well davie I was looking on the internet for videos of the murrough fly both only found one and I was wondering if you could tie it or try tie it . All the best fiddle
Hi fiddle My tool, Over the years I've tyed a few different patterns for the Murrough so if you have a dressing that has worked for you then send it to me or even better a link to it... All the very best Davie
Hi Leo Preston, This fly is a slight variant of a traditional loch style wet fly and would be fished mostly on the top dropper and would be called a bob fly..If you tyed it on a long shanked hook than you could easily fish it as a streamer patterns and I'm sure it would work really well... All the very best Davie
Best non-fishing day ever! Waking up and finding 3 Davie videos. Call my kids/fishing buddies and it's better than a Tele Tubbie marathon.
for me, to see this man tying, is a near pleasure to Zen.
I particularly like this one. Great to have 3 videos to watch. Thanks Davie.
Классная мушка, благодарю, Дэви! Обожаю ваше творчество!👍🤝🇰🇿
As always Davie a masterclass and a wee twist on a well established original.

Great tying as usual Davie, I was wondering if you ever use the Wally winging method on any of your flys.
