I watched this video when it came out and I wanted to circle back to tell you I did this thanks to you! I play at strange hours but I was getting frustrated not having Rose of Destruction and Cold Fog. I'd tried soloing The Burn before but kept dying on the first boss to vuln stacks, Missile made me able to actually clear this, thank you for your tips! You do a good service here haha.
For any who are still struggling with this post-stat squish, it is still doable! You don't have much room for error, though. The most dangerous attack is by far frost breath and I found the best way to deal with it was to ensure I reapplied gobskin after each rime wreath cast and heal aggressively. I also found that it was more useful to spam pom cure to out-heal the DoT and then keep re-applying the gobskin to soak the damage from the frostbite. Exuviation's heal just wasn't enough to keep me alive through DoT damage I'd sustain prior to the heal, the boss auto attacks, and the damage I took as I moved out of the puddle. Good luck!
It'll help immensely if you use mimicry-tank. The effect of Gobskin is well over doubled if you're using that and it makes a world of difference. I know he showed off having mimicry but I don't believe he was using it in the vid.
I would likely take bad breath too for the blind for extra evasion and a damage reduction/ poison debuff that will always be applied when used. The damage debuff has saved me several times when fighting bosses since it does apply to bosses (the other parts of bad breath get resisted)
OMG thank you! I went in with two groups and spent an hour each, once as healer and once as tank and we couldn't beat last boss. Someone was always getting frozen and only 1-2 of us had raise each time. I saw this video and went in solo, and now I finally have 104 spells! Thank you thank you!
Yeah...its much easier getting fog and such with an actual tank but if the fights close on mist dragon just have people return and run like heck back to the arena. Most don't know or remember that being alive (even if not in the arena) and close enough lets you learn the spell regardless (I recall this quite clearly when getting tail screw back before exuviation was a spell to learn; 'glares at tail screw + dot' such a death sentence back then)
Thank you for the guide, seriously a tough fight - the #1 thing you said that saved me is using swiftcast Angel Snack the instant you get unfrozen -- then I also added Devour right after because it increases your HP by 20% + heals, then do Exuviation to heal/get rid of frostbite and run straight forward/behind the boss when they cast frost breath - and if the timing is right you'll still have 15-20% life afterwards then can heal up and you're safe. Thanks!
The draw-in effect on Hydro Pull simply does not affect many enemies in instances. For The Burn I don't think it actually works at all, on any pull. It would be very helpful on the last pull in particular but it just doesn't work as advertised. It works in some dungeons and not others, it works on some enemies and not others in the same dungeons, I haven't been able to nail down a great system for being able to predict when it will work or not. It's still a 15-yalm, 220 potency AOE which is nothing to sneeze at though. Also, it's worth noting that every spell in the game can be learned solo now apart from Mustard Bomb and Peripheral Synthesis (I couldn't get past the Level Checker phase, too high of a damage check while forcing you to take a lot of time in Diamondback and Damage Down debuffs). I was able to do Alte Roite and Phantom Train without too much trouble, Tsukuyomi was a bit tougher and Suzaku is the hardest, but intentionally wiping a few times after the 3-minute mark to build up the Echo buff helps a lot. As you say, I wouldn't recommend it for someone just trying to learn the spells, but if you enjoy soloing stuff I found it to be a lot of fun.
Yeah I think someone actually showed that you can solo every single spell, even Mustard Bomb.. it just took them 200-300 tries and involved some weirdness. It's definitely doable, but certainly not practical. It's fun for a challenge, though. I did a lot of them on my alt that way. :)
I love doing BLU solo because I really enjoy just the ability to plan my approach and take it slower. But I also love how collaborative Blue Mage is, so I try and not be too introverted about it :p
This is still doable, as I just did it. I used tank mimic, devour to heal and keep HP up, Rehydration as my main heal. (It's SLOW but it will heal you up, you kind of have to use it proactively and predictively.) Gobskin was a must and reapplying almost every other spell. Goblin punch was main filler damage, breath of magic was the DOT i reapplied every minute. Primal Spells were main ogcd damage. I brought exuviation to heal frostbite. I also brought Pom Cure and Angel's Snack. These aren't optimal for tank mimic, but they did help with some emergency healing when I didn't have time for rehydration. Diamondback is still the way to survive the Cold Fog mechanic. You can't make many mistakes, but once you know the fight (watch this video or just die a few times) it's easy to avoid many of them. Best of luck!
Picking up BLUE again with the moogle tomes event. I really dislike the Aurum grind (missle blasting bosses never gets old though). But I Love soloing (and grouping if people are in PF) and getting the spells. Thanks for the guide. Gonna try Cold Fog when I have gobskin.
Thank you so much for this video, I'll definitely try that myself cause I'm really scared of not having spells when I want to join the group and I feel bad for that. x)
Just found your channel thanks to my fresh BLU static. We're readying ourselves for Turn 13 prog tomorrow. We downed Twintania and Nael tonight. \o/ I soloed all my spells up until Alphascape 3.0. The trick is to play bad and clip the boss with Glass Dance or Supranakha. :P I have been sleeping on Missile, I tell you h'wut!
tips for the final boss if you don't have gobskin (somehow) you can use chelonian gate for the ice breath, for the Vaporize don't waste mana with diamondback if you don't have gobskin to avoid the voln stack, after you get unfrozen use angel's snack then chelonian gate for the first breath attack then after swift to diamondback thats how i did it since the dmg is a bit too high OuO;
Trying to do this in Gubal Hard to learn Magic Hammer and the trash mobs are doing tons of damage to me. I can Ram's Voice them to slow them down but even with Angel Snack and Pom Cure I can't heal fast enough. What am I doing wrong? I'm Level 70 with the full mirage set and wielding Incendiario. I am melded too with Crit/Det. And I am mimicking healer.
Are you remembering Mighty Guard? Even with a ton of enemies that should be fine; Basic Instinct makes Pom Cure functionally a Benediction so it's pretty safe overall..
Your recommendation have been helpful to me. I play as a F2P player, so my ability to form groups are somewhat limited. I only just started, but so far it was easier to me to just run the dungeon unsynched a couple of times instead of trying synched. For example, The Decaying Gourmand even at level 60 requires a Bristle+Off Guard+Moon Flute+Song of Torment combo to kill, and it only took me two kills to get its ability. Getting to Tonberry King at level 50 is easy, with every boss before it being susceptible to Missiles. Beating it with all those ads is a whole different story. I ended up going unsynched, took me more tries certainly, but run of the whole dungeon is only 7-8 minutes. Zu? Sure, you can just blast him with missiles if you only care about Song of Torment, but if you want to trigger Flying Frenzy, I could barely survive it at level 60. I did get Aetherial Mimicry and Pom Cure synched, though. Granted, the bosses themselves killed me, but I did survive long enough to kill the relevant ads. Synching also worked for Fire Angon.
Why do you bring Feather Rain over Eruption by the way? It looks like they end up doing the same damage in the end, but feather's just over time? Or am I getting something wrong here?
DOTs scale a bit with SpS, so Feather Rain is technically very slightly more damage. In practice it doesn't matter in a meaningful way, but that's the reason.
On those second mobs you would pull after you would ram/ultra vib the first mob why not ram/swift cast/ ultra vib or since ultra vib was on cool down would swift cast not work
Yeah Ultravibration was on cooldown. Normally I would just kill them using primal spells or self-destruct or something, but I intentionally took a very limited loadout.
As much as you want to think it's because of Endwalker, it certainly is not. It still works the same as before, you just need to mitigate appropriately.
@@BlueAcademy What I've done Gobskin > Diamondback > Ice jail break > re-apply Gobskin > pom cure (some run try angel snack) > Tank buster > Pom Cure > cast ice > I got ~13,000 dmg + Ice dot 2,000 die before I can dispell my self.
