    For all the people considering to buy MSI laptop, I should tell you one major thing which will help you a lot in terms of time and your hard earned money.
    I owned 3 MSI laptops, first was GTX 960m, 2nd was GTX 1060 and 3rd was GTX 1070. I spent a lot of money on these models and learned my lesson and finally shifted to a PC as it was possible for me. I know it's not always possible to go for PC that is why I am mentioning one major point about MSI laptops(don't know about other company's gaming laptops so can't say anything)
    The thing is MSI laptop has great hardware but very bad thermal management due to factory applied bad thermal paste. When you buy a new one, it will work great till 5-6 months then start to give you problems like high temps and thermal throttling. Since they have 1-2 year of warranty, you cannot open it also to apply thermal paste or will have to make a great hassle to take it to service center and re-application of paste. And I am saying this because I have seen many videos on TH-cam, people having the same problem and re-applying thermal paste making their laptop run again like new.
    I learned my lesson after 3 purchase. Hope this information will help you all.

      ive had MSI laptops for about 6 years now.. i have no problem opening it up and replacing the paste. its not that hard. also you do need to use a cooling pad if youre gaming as for any laptop, my temps are around 70C max

    • @WhatThisVideo-WTv
      @WhatThisVideo-WTv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tommy2346 first not everyone can do easily do that. Second it will void warranty.
      Usually this thermal paste issue start occuring after first 3 months. So nobody want to open theirs to void warranty even if they know how to do it.

    It looks like 2080 MAX-Q doesn't have very strong performance as Nvidia said, compared with mobile GTX 1070(no MAX-Q, very close to 1080 MAX-Q, just weaker about 5-8%), the FireStrike score is only about 15%higher, but the price is increasing to a terrible new top. 20 series are really like a starter of ray tracing cards. I have the GS73 with the GTX1060 and as nice as this laptop is, I still think I'll wait another generation or two before upgrading as I can't justify the performance differential relative the price at this point. I'm still able to get near 60FP on max settings with most titles at 1080P and I've got the 4K panel for video editting anyway, so don't really need much more in terms of frame rates. I also feel that a generation or two on the build quality will be sufficiently improved to the point that it alone will justify the upgrade. My GS73 is nice, but its definitely no where near the build quality of a say MacBook pro, but I reckon a generation or two on MSIs build quality will likely be where Apple's is today.

    the reason why theres more power efficiency and its in a thinner laptop is because they're selling you a refresh of whatever pascal gpu they had but from watching Austin Evan's video it seems like they don't even give you the full potential of the desktop gpu you loose like a good 20%, 30% of performance over your desktop counterpart which I get it it may be worth to some but that's pretty insane since were talking about basically pascal based gpu's that came out 2 years ago. But they have this new thing called ray tracing that makes it look like your buying new technology.
