      I am a beginner the first one I made with a scrap came out 9x9 instead of 10 x 10. Then I tried 6x6. It came out 6 1/2 x 5 1/2

    Wonderful instructions for sewing the easiest pillow covers ever! I needed 30 inch pillows to make a couch for my front porch out of a twin bed ... and needed BIG pillows to act as a more solid "back" ... these instructions were exactly what I needed. My first pillow, for some reason, had kind of "empty points" at the corners (the insert's stuffing doesn't make it out to the corners very well), so on my second cover I rounded the corners of the cover, and that solved my problem!

    Thanks so much for posting this, I have three made today and a bunch more on the way for my 2 couches-I even reused the old pillow inside that were in decent shape as the inside on a few. 👍🏻 I've only sewn two things, rectangle runners for my end tables. Your tutorial was so easy to understand for a brand new sewing guy and truth be told I did a heck of a good job thanks to you. My two nieces for Christmas will get throw pillows with funky fabrics, I'm so excited for the possibilities. By happenstance I made a grocery bag from a nice print old throw pillow I replaced, it's the perfect size.❤️ Being able to wash these is key and the simplicity of making them with an excellent look is so appreciated., I subscribed.😎

    Hi Jann! I'm learning how to use a sewing machine for the first time after being a hand sewist for many years! It takes me a long time to learn new things, but I watched your video once through and was able to make the cushion cover this evening, I can't believe it!! I know my sewing tutor will be so proud of me I only started learning 2 weeks ago (on Fridays, so about 10 hours max on the sewing machine so far). I'm going to make 2 covers to send to my nephews in Australia. I made bunting for them at Christmas in the same fabric but it took forever because I did it by hand 😂 Now they'll have matching cushions as decor for their beds. I appreciate the pace you go at in this video it's really helpful, thank you!

    Love this tutorial. Question for you though. You indicated do a fabric cut on the length of the pillow at 18", the length of the form. I thought that you always add an inch to the form length to allow for a half inch seam allowance when sewing the two sides. Please explain your reasoning to cut the fabric to the exact size of the form. Thank you !

    • @JannNewtonSewOften
      @JannNewtonSewOften  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Loved this video - easy to follow. I made 2 - 14" pillows and then was able to figure out how to make a 20"x14" rectangle using the same procedure. Thanks, Jann!

    I have made several pillow covers using this method. Much easier than 3 pieces or putting a zipper. Love this.

    I've just discovered your channel. I loathe sewing zippers, and discovered the envelope type of pillow cover when i was gifted several covers with this style.
    Lightbulb moment.
    I've made six pillow covers with the envelope back and plan to make even more. It's not that i need piles of pillow covers, i just have lots and lots and lots, did I say lots, of fabric and find quick projects a way to sew down to a manageable amount of material.

    I made several pillow cover before but I always use to much fabric. I knew there was a way out there that was easier and less expensive. Thanks so much for this wonderful tutorial. I'll be making more pillow cover soon.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. I wanted to make new covers for my throw pillows but did not know how to achieve the envelope look. Now I can do it myself. So happy your video came up when I searched on TH-cam.

    Thank you so much. I will definitely follow your video to make three pillows for my grandchildren. It will be so great that they will be able to take the cover off and wash the fabric. I used to know how to put in zippers but it’s been a very long time and this will be much easier.
