Hopefully, by the end of this video you'll understand why this simple box on wheels outsells competitors from huge multi-national corporations, and you might even learn how to pronounce "Hongguang"!

Hi Daniel! I thought I must be the only foreigner in China to drive a Wuling bread van! One day I was driving some Chinese colleagues around, and got a great laugh from a toll booth attendant, who said she had never seen a white guy drive a mianbao che, let alone carrying Chinese passengers!
I bought the Wuling van for my brewpub (FUBAR), and even though the pub is closed, I have kept the van. At times I am tempted to "upgrade" to a nicer vehicle, but this is just so practical for carrying my dog and crap around. Funny thing is, the Shenzhen license plate is worth more than the car!
Now that I"m moving back to Huizhou full time, and rarely need go to Shenzhen, I may finally be motivated to trade for a more refined car.... but it couldn't possibly have more character.

One of the wuling models here is Confero, same as older Honggguang, and people are usually reluctant to buy because of the weird design. I drive a Foton chinese pickup truck
it's a chinese clone of an Isuzu
it drives exactly like a 90s Isuzu pickup, but has features of newer models
Fuel Economy, mehhh. it has a 2.8 turbo diesel so 10-15km / liter is what it usually consumes that's with an A/C on.
    Power? it's a 2.8 turbo diesel probably around 100hp?
it's just adequate to cruise you around 100-120kph all day. if you go faster than that the engine is absolutely screaming.
Reliability, yes! based on my experience on it, I never had catastrophic engine failures at all on my 10 years of ownership
just the A/C compressor going bad, and some wheel bearings that I replaced a year ago
Tip: Regularly Check everything on the powerplant side of things, any leaks, rectify as soon as possible. cracked or aged hoses replace then as soon as possible
same with rubber boots and bushings, taking care of those would save you from expensive repairs which chinese cars are known for.
if you would replace them though, it's better to replace them with Original Isuzu parts, which would further improve reliability and longevity

I'd buy this as is for the European market. Basic transportation is underrated when it comes really cheap.

these are not for basic transportation. they make cars fully prepared that you are goona drive that car with several goats in it.
this is for small business owners one car fits all kinda need.

@@zhangdayu2206 That is exactly what is needed for the rest of the world as well. My current car is a Citroën Nemo small van, it's the most practical car I've ever had. I reckon at least four goats could fit.

Depends where you want to drive. If you want access to the Shanghai city center and to drive on the elevated roads at all times of the day, then you’re going to spend well over 100,000 RMB for the privilege.

This car is actually in the Chinese market, it is a very cheap and multi-use and tool car.
than as a personal daily car, their personal car market SUV is the best seller, sedan follows.
Yes, this kind of car is their VAN or PICKUP, tool car.
So you may ask, why not buy a pickup truck. This is caused by the evil CCP rules. CCP distinguishes between personal vehicles and commercial vehicles. PICKUP or VAN belong to commercial vehicles. If you want to use commercial vehicles, you must follow the commercial rules. The rules of the car use the car, so there will be a lot of problems. Simply put, it is very limited in the personal use scene. Many people need a combination of both rather than a single system. So this kind of personal use A product that uses a vehicle identity but has commercial vehicle functions.
So is there no pickup truck in China? No, they do, and they are very popular, but those rules persecute it and limit his sales. Otherwise, I think the sales of pickup trucks will be the best-selling products in the Chinese market like this small VAN.
