Dear Trybals , what about the song BABY DID A BAD BAD THING? by Chris Izaak.
I am guessing you don't want any overtly sexy film clip, but there are live versions that are more raw and really show off his voice range.
Oh and then, WICKED GAME, by same singer.

    • @georgielancaster1356
      @georgielancaster1356 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Another interesting song would be MONDAY I GOT FRIDAY ON MY MIND, by THE EASYBEATS. filmed in 1967, in Australia.
So old black and white film. They can imagine their oldest family members in 1967.
As well, it is a sad story. The lead singer became an alcoholic and drug addict and ruined his life and wasted his talent.
And much more modern, an internationsl band, THE TRAVELLING WILBURY'S singing THE END OF THE LINE
Oh and THE ORINOCCO FLOW by the Irish singer Enya singing. Very different. Very original

It took me a moment to realize why Parvati's son seemed to be having such a hard time unwrapping his coloring book, but then it finally clicked: he's not unwrapping it, he's carefully putting it back into the disposable plastic wrapper in order to protect it, as if it's something very precious to him. Very sweet, and extremely humbling.

First: Mukhtiar, I am 43 years old with children of my own, but I have been in love with Cyndi since I was eight years old. I get it. And your painting does encapsulate her spirit.
Second, and more importantly: Parvati. There is no way that I will ever begin to understand being a woman in a Pakistani village. But I understand longing, and I recognize it when I see it. And I know virtue when I see it, too. You have both. You remind us how strong women can be, and you remind us how unfair it is to ask a woman to exert such strength. Around 2:49 when that kid comes into view - keep watching. Around 2:55 you'll see something that could make sunlight feel like an inefficient power source.
That kid's got it going on. That's a cool kid.
Edit to add: That other kid lit up quite a bit too when asked if he (I assume it's a boy, but if I'm wrong then that's on me and I'll stand corrected) wanted to sing along. Both are cool kids.
Also, that painting... it's actually good, the man's hands and mind did a good job translating into that style painting what his eyes saw.

I had to look closer to make out what made the boy smile so big at the point you are referencing... I think he can discern in the scene that Cyndi Lauper's character is sassing back to her mother, and he glances at his own mum to gauge her reaction, and grins even more! He is REALLY enjoying that sassy kid!. It's very cute!

I can see cyndi in his painting- at least the “feelings” of her. Well done. I hope you were able to translate the lyrics to the song as they are very important to the freedom and autonomy of women and women’s rights.
The “father” was portrayed by Captain Lou Albano, a friend of Cyndi’s at that time. He was famous in the world of professional wrestling 🤼‍♀️ . He wasn’t a real “captain”. That was just his nickname (or moniker).

This is an interesting song to put to another culture to analyze, because it's really about a particular time life in a US city, specifically NYC. Working class, young adult, probably not enough money to go to college ("we're not the fortunate ones,"), not making enough money to afford a place on her own (so still living at home, this is the main NYC aspect, because housing prices are just nuts there), but of course having to work at an entry-level or menial job just to have money to contribute to the house. That's why it's "when the working day is done," not after school or housework. It's a liminal time, where the woman has some adult responsibilities but isn't running her own household. And it's a time that's been a US phenomena for about a century now. When my grandmother was young in the Depression, she'd go into NYC to a sewing trade school, then dance at the Savoy at night before returning home to her family. She told me she couldn't do the Charleston like those little girls (she was a very tall woman), but she had her fun. In the 80's when this song was made, the dancing happened at different clubs or at house parties, but it was still a time of balancing the hard work of building a new life from the ground up with actively seeking joy.
And while the song is about freedom, in terms of just talking to people and being independent, that was part of being in NYC, or even just in the surrounding area. Children navigate city neighborhoods on their own, regardless of gender, so it's obviously part of any adult's life. The freedom isn't in freely navigating the world, because that's a necessity of economic class. It's doing so for enjoyment.

      P.S.
Despite the angst of the working class in the USA (which very righteously NEEDS to be addressed) imagine how much more stressful it must be for someone like Parvati, a woman from a "3rd World" country with "Old World" values with the encroachment of the ever-pervasive Western European culture, but with NONE of the Western European benefits that even 1980s Cyndi Lauper would have had available to her . . . .

To me this is really moving. I had the same feelings for Cyndi Lauper over 30 years ago. I admired her for seemingly doing whatever she wanted and so did many friends as we were from small towns and couldn't do what she did without getting in trouble, especially the girls. And now I see Parvati. She is a strong woman. If only she could break free temporarily and go to a concert and cheer, sing and dance, or some other activities she desires and "let it all out". Greetings from Germany.

Mukhtiar is not the only one obsessed with Cindy Lauper.😍🤩
He really captured her in his abstract portrait.
I love this channel so much--and in the past few hours, I've come to love all these people on here--in an agape sort of way. I know it would be difficult in real life to be friends because of the cultural differences between tribal Pakistan and the USA where female/male relationships are concerned. But this channel is so frickin awesome! You are really spreading the love.
"Girls Just Want to Have Fun" was a powerful anthem for U.S. women in mid 80's. Parvati's (I hope I have her name right) reactions are so touching in this video. She talks about boys in her town causing trouble for women and her standing up for herself. She talks about neighbors back-biting her for participating in this amazing project.
I want her to know how brave and strong she is and that boys cause trouble for women here too. Most women in USA don't have the opportunity to be as powerfully free as Cindy Lauper. She's out hero too.
I love her children's reaction to the videos. So joyous!
And the Pakistani men filmed here seem surprisingly accepting of Ms Lauper's video. They are not shaming her. It's lovely to see.
There's way too much to say. I'm blown away by this channel. Love it❤️❤️❤️
    Thank you everyone involved.

Hello, Trybals. I'm a musician, from Spain. I've been watching some of your videos and I'd like to tell you a couple of things.
It warms my heart to see people from everywhere opening up to other cultures. I am a bit like you when I listen to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. My favorite song is Sochta hoon keh woh kitne masoom thay (it's been a while though). It was thanks to an American musician, Jeff Buckley, that I discovered Qawalli. I suggest you have a look, at his version of Hallelujah at Bearville studios and his album Live at Sin-é, in which he performs a version of Ye jo halka halka suroor hai, live. But I digress
I came just to tell you that I feel very moved by your reactions. There's this innocence and awe that I find really tender, from all of you, and I wish you continue to make reactions, hopefully, I'll see you one day reacting to some of my favorites, although no more spam for the rest of this message.
To finish, I'd like to say, and I don't know very well how, as I'm afraid to cause problems, that I'm especially touched by Pavarti, I believe is the name of the woman in the video. I find it very interesting how she enjoys heavy metal, for all of her background. I think, for most of us in the west, Metal is a way to cathart heavy emotions, and not everybody gives in to the experience. Coming from a Pakistani mother of two, I'd say that is brave and open, to say the least, and I admire it. I wish I could find better words, forgive me.
Regarding this reaction, I'd rather just say that she's the start of it, probably for how womanhood contrast in your culture with American's. or western culture. She changes expression throughout the song, it looks like there's so much going on inside of her, like a storm. She engages so much in the listening, like in hypnosis or a trance. I like to see her smile to the video clip and to her sons in the end. There's so much that transpires from it. A really moving thing to see, really beautiful.
I apologise for my long message and for any possible affront or insolence from my part, I hope you can understand the cultural gap, I just wanted to share this with you hoping you'd take it well, cause that is how I meant it
    Best wishes, Trybals
PS: Please, react to Back In Black, by Ac/Dc. It will pay off, I assure you

I'm always amazed at how patiently they sit there intently watching those videos and being critical but NOT criticizing them. They have more open hearts than most people have and they are articulate and insightful. In this video all I could do was get up and dance but these people had a lot of "heavy" things to say about it. Women's rights, crushes and love, beautiful art, etc. I also like the fact that people are trying to contact Cyndi Lauper so she can check this video out and see the painting. Some females today who always complain, do they truly believe that they have a worse life than my mother and others of her generation, for example, who were born in the 1920s? Where are the celebrations for how far females and society has changed for the better? There are plenty of males who are treated as second class citizens too. We are constantly told that our masculinity is bad and toxic, even little boys in school these days are being chastised just for their male nature. It is disgusting. The sexism towards males in the West is now ever present.

Though I was Team Madonna back then and not as much into Cyndi Lauper's edgier punk style, I've long since grown up to realize that Cyndi only got better with age. She NEVER lost that cool down-to-earth vibe that made her so much fun to watch, while Madonna just got more pretentious with the decades. I think Cyndi also has a vastly superior singing voice with some serious range. She is not to be underestimated. So glad to see Parvati getting a taste of this kind of music. Now I wonder what she'd think of Cyndi's other work.

I love his painting! It's beautiful! Cyndi should purchase it from him.

Parvati is so pretty! And I love the soft clicking sounds that her arm rings make (sorry I don't know the proper term). Please tell her that a sisterfriend in Tennessee says hello!

The word you're looking for is bangles. It's a tradition for Pakistani tribal women to cover their arms with bangles once they're married.

@@MikkiManson13 Even my American brain should've thought "bangles" 🤦🏽‍♀️ Thanks for the info. I didn't know they were standard for married women. I thought it was said earlier that the bangles are fashionable. I know the arms must be covered, but didn't think the bangles were the required means.

As a viewer I want to share that I enjoy the Trybals team’s true reaction. If sad then sad. If confused then confused. If joyful then joyful. I would never want them to feel they can’t express their real selves to share.

I don't consider these reactions sir, I consider them as learning something out of whatever I present and when they review, it's always like they teach us something new especially Mohammad Riaz.

They should hear her sing "i drove all night" or "True colors'

I SO kept thinking the same! @Trybals please play True Colors for Mukhtar because he would certainly identify with that song as that is what he did in his painting...plus it's slower so it really demonstrates Cyndi Lauper's vocal ability which I think he would be happy to hear.

This whole channel just makes me so happy ☺️ Cyndi Lauper also has other great songs, Time after Time and “I want a mom to last forever” from Rugrats Go To Paris. My mom was a huge Cyndi Lauper fan so I grew up listening to her, still love her music to this day. I’m very happy to see other people enjoying her as well, keep up the awesome work guys! Love from US

My heart bleeds for this lady. The sadness in her eyes...

This is an incredible reaction.. You see from the woman’s/mother’s perspective, and the younger and more mature man’s perspective. The shy, but longing reaction from the woman with her children, the men seeing love, respect, and devotion to a woman can mean her ultimate freedom to do whatever she desires and love her for just whatever she is, in a way, seeing themselves through her. As if the boundaries between the genders is insignificant, we can all be loved, for whatever and whoever we are. We are allowed to see who we are through this song and video, and just what that means in societies so identified by gender. It is very moving.

I love the way Muhammad connects things back to his culture in every video. Different songs or stories or even ads. I love hearing how it translates for him
