It’s a bit arrogant but I love armchair-analyzing Crokinole. Check out the exchange starting at 8:50. Peter suggests Cody take the more difficult shot through their own to take away the backboard for Conrad. Cody instead takes the easier takeout, which imo is doubly correct; he’s playing within his limits, not letting anyone (partner or opponent) throw him, AND his hit-and-stick blocks the aforementioned backboard shot. Love to see a player stand up for themselves. Then. After Conrad catches a bad peg, Peter gives his opponent a backboard that he uses to sink the 20! Like hey Dad, lemme play my game and you work on yours😂 11:30 - I really like this shot. Technically it’s great, just enough weight to touch the button without the off. Strategically it’s bold, forcing outside play and ensuring your partner has a shot instead of potentially playing to the far side of the board. 15:10 - hindsight is 20-20, but that approach was too dangerous. I get that, the way black’s sitting on that peg, going from the right risks a bounce-back while the left approach is a clearer takeout. It’s not an impossible shot but it’s too risky here. 15:40 - it’s almost like Cody told me “eat s**t Internet Guy” great shot 18:20 - did Snyder mean to do this? Was he aiming for a bump-up 20 / takeout? If so that is so ballsy, I love it! 23:20 - I thought this hit-and-stick was glued to that post, but Cody had a clean line to it. Millimeters matter. 23:43 - yup, that’s better.
A few thoughts here: it's common to see players discuss a shot before either of them shoots, especially in a critical match. Peter making suggestions shouldn't be seen as a bad thing, as it's always good to make sure your partner is making the right call :) especially with a backboard set up for the legend Conrad, it's critical to make sure he's not left with any opportunity (which I think was still doable up the middle, but alas he caught a post). 18:20 I believe that was intentional, yes :) the kinds of shots these players make is incredible.
Admittedly not our best camera positioning 😅 I was rushing to get the camera going since I’d already missed some of the match, which is why it’s tilted and close

This should be at Scotiabank Arena!
I was thinking outdoors at Echo Beach, but that would require moving the tourney to the summer (which is clearly the biggest obstacle in that dream 😆)
lol camera angle... yup that's a thing
