Paul….everyone is saying it, you’ve heard it a million times. Mutemath was and still is BEYOND incredible. This band literally changed lives. This band contributed SO F’ing much to its fans and gave them a gift that is still today and forever, unmatched. We cannot begin to express the level of love and gratitude, emotion and peace, that Mutemath gave us. And yes…you are and will always be THE BEST BAND ANYONE WILL EVER SEE LIVE. In spite of that, I will admit that I have struggled to continue to listen because I’m mad. I’m angry and I’m hurt that this “thing”…this band…is gone, presumably forever. The other day while sitting at a red light, the intro for Stratosphere started and as soon as the song kicked in….tears. Overwhelming emotions. I had to pull up away from the car next to me so I could continue to have this personal moment and work through it. Moments like that have happened far too often throughout the MM catalogue because it’s only one of a million things that this band did exceptionally well. So….as I sat there, listening and thinking….it brought me back to the idea that, I refuse to give up hope that this was the end. My fingers are crossed tighter than anything that one day, there will be a realization that what Mutemath gave to me and to us is too great to simply say goodbye to. I will continue to hold out hope that “Play Dead” was more than just an album title. I want to believe that it was a statement as to the bands status, leaving hope that one day, Mutemath will quit playing dead and eventually stand back up and do what it was destined to. This band may not have achieved the mass appeal and commercial success that WE ALL KNOW it deserved….but it still possesses something even better- dedicated, loving, loyal, unwavering, DIE HARD FANS. Fans who will go ANYWHERE and support you any way we can. We are here and we will continue to wish, hope and dream…..we are here and we are many. All the best, to all of you. And I wish nothing but success for each endeavor and path that you guys are individually on. Thank you.
@@sdp-ui2lw I dunno. I was at first too but…He’s a dad. He’s a husband. Despite our love for them, they are the only people that he has a real commitment to. For us to demand anything above that is incredibly selfish. Also we don’t know the level of turmoil that may have existed between members. We can’t blame or point fingers because we simply don’t know. All we can do is hope that one day, it’s resolved and they go back to loving what it was they used to do together.
@@gat0r924 I agree completely with your sentiment about family. But then, why didn't he say anything? Why did he split right before touring the new album? Not just that, but Paul seems like one of the nicest guys ever. He didn't diss on Darren for leaving at all. I know we don't see everything behind the scenes. But wouldn't someone else corroborate with Darren if there was some secret evil side of Paul? Wouldn't Paul share his part in the breakdown other than "You're going to have to ask Darren"? When they almost broke up before Armistice, everyone acted far more transparent. If family was Darren's only reason, of course that would be acceptable. But I wish he could've just said that.
