For amateurs like myself, I preferred the Trail cuz I'll more often accidentally tip into a slight anhyzer release when I want a little hyzer to flat and that touch more stability helps. If you accidentally release on too much hyzer, the Gorgon flipping up can be more forgiving.
I literally bought both of these discs on the same day about 2 weeks ago. I can’t really figure out the Gorgon yet, but the Trail is my new favorite disc and I immediately set personal distance records with it. I love the Trail
'Gor-gun' is the most common pronunciation (until this disc came out). 'Gor-gone' just sounds funky when one sees the spelling and wonder how the second 'O' is emphasized without an 'e' at the end of it. #HookedonPhonics
I have a 166g Star Gorgon and now a 165 and 173g Trail. Both of those discs are awesome and fly differently, I bag them both. I find the Gorgon a little easier to throw with a little less fade
There's something to be said for bagging the Gorgon mold in multiple plastics. The glow one is a little more stable than star, and the Gstar is flippier - it's actually rated -3 turn instead of -2 like the others.
Great review!! Im looking for a 2 Trails right now. Thanks.❤ With my Forehand needing to get lower weights as I get older, im looking for 169g or below. Im FH dominant. Im 46 and I have old shoulder injuries from construction and Max weights just dont treat my body good anymore.
It's nose angle. People think the trail is more stable (and it is) but the trail is going to show you a very similar flight if you can throw nose down. The gorgon is just unbelievably flippy if you put it nose down on any sniff of a speed north of 50 mph
Hey! What types of discs would you recommend for a minimal bag for someone that throws up to 320? I’m thinking 4-5 discs total. I’m always looking for the do it all with the least possible. Weird thing is my longest distance disc is the innova Katana. Seems too fast of a disc to work very well for someone like me. I did just get the trail and haven’t used it enough to know how it works for me. Any thoughts would be so appreciated, Thanks!!
Hey! Hard to narrow it down to 5… I think I’d go with Gorgon, Cicada, Detour, Envy, and Proxy. Those discs will give you a wide variety of shot shape and they’re all really easy to throw well (which is why I love them). The Gorgon will be really good for max distance too. I’ve been throwing the Gorgon a ton since I filmed this.
@@FlyingFajitaDiscGolf Hey one question, any thoughts on the different use cases for Envy and Proxy? They seem kind of similar, but I don't really know what I'm talking about :)
I use the Proxy for most of my approaches. Just really straight, which is great because you can throw it on a huge variety of lines. The Envy is a bit more niche for me- pretty overstable, so if I really need strong fade or need a flex line I throw the Envy rather than the Proxy. I go Envy or Proxy off the tee for a lot of my sub-250 ft shots.
Alot of ppl say that the trail has more fade then 1 and less glide then 5. I cant understand these claims. I find it to be a -2 turn 1 fade with 5 glide. I got 2 for refrence one stock and one special edition (171g, couldnt find heavier).
@@larzen8197 I've seen Trails that have more or less dome depending on the color at the store. Mine has a fair bit of dome and I'd say it's closer to 6 glide and could be a -2 turn. Maybe the flatter ones act more overstable.
You’ll always run into confusion if you take the flight numbers literally which most disc golfers seem to do. When I hear people saying flight numbers need to be more accurate I smack my forehead because it’s a ridiculous ask that they’ve never thought about. There are an infinite number of variables that will determine how these discs fly and half of those are factors that have not a thing to do with the disc. If you can’t look at flight numbers and have a decent idea of how it flies then you are overthinking or under informed on the equipment, some discs are gonna be what you are looking for and some just aren’t but hey at least they are cheap. I bowled for years and to have like 6 bowling balls was about a grand and that’s not including shoes and other equipment. My whole bag of premium discs cost a few hundred, buying a disc that doesn’t work for you is not a big deal because it’s cheap and could help you find what you need
@@ViJt-oq5nqfor those of us shopping online, what difference did you notice between the colors? I've seen one review saying the teal was more stable and the purple more flippy. Would you agree?
Haven’t thrown the gorgon probably won’t tbh heard the trail is amazing and sold out everywhere so I’ll pick it up and if it isn’t as amazing as I hear maybe I’ll come back to the gorg

That's a good point 👍
Love the gorgon. Finally ordered a trail. They have been scarce... I can't wait! Just the video I was looking for. Keep up the great work!
Yeah they've been selling out quick. Thanks!

What abt polygon? (I know nothing about phonetics just curious)
I need to brush up on my Greek mythology 😅

great review ! man i wish i could get mym hands on a trail
Thanks! Looks like there's been some restocks online but they've been selling out really quick. Hoping MVP starts churning out more 🤞
Really good video dude
Thanks for the kind words!

Enjoyable review ❤

For sure- that nose angle becomes a lot more important with higher speed discs
That’s why the gorgon paired with my best in halo beast is the perfect combo. Then I have a star orc as my overstable 10 speed. That thing is 👌🏻
That's a great lineup 👍

I'm only happy the trail is a bit more stable. It will beat in nicely!
Also.. get one a little lighter if you want the flip!

Trail is way more like Finish Line Era, but Gorgon is neat.
Yeah these two were more different than I expected
@@FlyingFajitaDiscGolf The Era and Supra for me are really undersung discs. Very straight with a little finish.
I threw the gorgon today and I am not a fan. It feels odd like a midrange driver. I’ll keep my ascend for those super flippy shots
Yeah the convex rim is similar to a wider Mako3 which gives it that midrange feel. Definitely takes some getting used to.
When I first got my Gorgon I felt the same way until I broke it in and got used to it. Now it’s my go to driver.
I subbed
Thanks! 🤝
